He attended the VCA School of Film & Television where he is currently the first year lecturer. Andrew has written and directed award-winning short films, theatre and television, which have been screened and staged, in several countries. His short film Wednesday has been broadcast on cable television in the US and his short play Uncomfortable Silences won Short & Sweet, the world’s largest short play competition. The Independent is his debut feature film. John Studley’s career began as an in-house editor at one of Australia’s largest advertising agencies. He then moved to a small production company, continuing to edit commercials and music clips. John soon moved into directing where he shot television commercials for some of Australia’s biggest clients. His 15 years experience in the industry have provided the company with a solid working knowledge across all departments. In 2001, he graduated from the VCA School of Film & Television. He has produced numerous short films including the Tropfest finalist Wild Thing, as well as various music videos including the Australian Blues Project for ABC television. Russian counter-intelligence intercepts a radio transmission that indicates the Germans’ intention to destroy the production line of a new type of weaponry in the Ural region. Commander of the Special Unit, Captain Greenhoff, arrives in the Ural region, but he is not the person shown in his ID. Not many people know the technical name of this weaponry, but it is known all around the world as the rocket launcher Katusha. His current project, a three-part intelligent thrilleradventure, has the working title CC. They have very little in common and would never normally have cause to speak, let alone share their innermost fears and desires. They soon discover that they do have something in common: being male. As trust grows between them they gradually begin to share as they learn to listen to each other. It takes tragedy for the men to finally understand that they must take responsibility for their own lives and those of their loved ones. He directed the TV series of Wilfred, which won AFI awards for Best Comedy and Best Actor. Most recently Tony has completed Rats and Cats, which is due for release in mid-2008. From its inauguration in a small cafe, Sony Tropfest is now considered the world’s largest short film festival. Lynda House is one of Australia’s most successful and respected producers. Her credits include Proof, Muriel’s Wedding, The Missing and the documentary Pozieres. Lynda also produced Invincible, starring Billy Zane, and the telemovie Secret Bridesmaids’ Business, which screened at festivals around the world. In 2002/03, Lynda produced Gregor Jordan’s Ned Kelly. As project director of Sony Tropfest, Serena Paull supervises annual sponsorship management and procurement, event delivery and management, as well as the production of festival trailers, TVCs and cinema ads. In 2005, Serena became project director of, and was integral in establishing, the Tropfest Feature Program. Overseeing the selection process, it was a natural progression to coproducer of September. 94 min (2.35:1 35mm) Andy has the perfect life – beautiful wife, great job. One catch: his illicit affair with Rachel, a sexually aggressive colleague who likes to role-play. When Andy wakes up bruised, groggy and shackled to a bed, Rachel reveals her new game. For every lie Andy tells, the iron spikes above his head will drop a little. With his wife watching via remote LCD, Rachel starts her questions. PRODUCER Carolyn Johnson moved from merchant banking into film production in 1993. She is an Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) graduate, who has produced six awardwinning short films. Carolyn has worked as a producer, production manager and script editor in documentary and drama, and teaches courses in producing and production management. He works his way across a small industrial harbour city, pushing and pulling his beloved buggy and broom, zigzagging from one zebra crossing to another. Inspired by the ephemeral things he finds on ordinary streets – lost love letters and modest moments – and liable to spontaneous poetry, this princely pedestrian rambles on. Unnoticed by most passers-by, he strolls through the sleepy CBD, wanders between ordinary suburban bungalows, dances in the cemetery, and takes the highway through the swamp out of town … until, three days later, at sunset, his odyssey ends by a river. Toby collaborated with Neil Mansfield on a catalogue of no-budget music videos shot on 16mm several years ago, and they have renewed their working relationship for Streetsweeper.
