QDART is a collection of software tools and resources designed to aid original equipment
manufacturers with subscriber unit hardware development and production issues. The QDART
collection includes several tools: QUALCOMM Manufacturing Support Library (QMSL™),
QUALCOMM Radio Control Tool (QRCT™), QUALCOMM Sequence Profiling Resource
(QSPR™), and a collection of subsystem test libraries and extensible test tree files (XTTs).
The QDART collection is shown in Figure 2-1.

2.1.1 QMSL
QMSL is a Microsoft Windows operating system-based Dynamic Link Library (DLL). It
provides an ANSI C-style interface to the PC client to communicate with the mobile for the
Factory Test Mode (FTM) API transaction.
Released - Internal Use Only
The QMSL library operates in two modes:
„
QPST – In this mode, QMSL requires QPST to be installed. QMSL will use QPST as a
transport layer for mobile communication. QMSL acts as a client of QPSTServer.exe.
„
Standalone – In this mode, QMSL does not require QPST to be installed. QMSL uses its own
transport layer for mobile communications. In this case, QMSL will own the COM port
resources. No other applications, including QPST, can access the COM port or virtual COM
port resources.
2.1.2 QRCT
QRCT is a Windows toolkit designed to control a QUALCOMM ASIC-based mobile device,
such as a Subscriber Unit Reference (SURF™) design or Form Factor Accurate (FFA) in the
AMSS FTM mode.
The QRCT application requires DMSS or AMSS software with FTM built into it. The FTM mode
can be enabled through the QRCT GUI.
2.1.3 QSPR
QSPR is a PC tool that demonstrates QCT-designed automation sequences, particularly RF
calibration and nonsignaling system tests, as executed on common test equipment.
QSPR is a GUI that displays the test sequence contained in an XTT. The test sequences provided
cover typical RF calibration or nonsignaling test scenarios. The test steps that make up the
sequence are contained in subsystem DLLs.
Once the execution starts, the time profiling information can be viewed via the GUI subsystem
DLLs that perform the communication to the test equipment via GPIB and to the mobile via
QMSL calls.

3.3.2.2 Station calibration file
The CalDB_NET.xml file is an XML file that stores station path loss information. This
information is used by each subsystem test to account for cable loss.
8
This file is located in the [QDART installation folder]\Databases directory. You can use any text
editor to edit the file. The file organizes path loss information by configuration (CalConfig). Each
configuration, defined by a name, organizes station calibration data by path (CalPath). Each path
is identified by a number and stores pairings of frequency (in MHz) and loss in positive value (in
dB). You can create finer path loss information by adding additional pairs of frequency and loss.
9
Table 3-4 describes each path configuration.

5
6
5.2 QMSL
QUESTION 1
ANSWER
Who should be using QMSL library?
QMSL is generally used by test engineers to develop factory automated test software based on the
FTM API. It provides a PC-side wrapper to the API.
7
QUESTION 2
ANSWER
Which files do I need to compile and link my program using QMSL?
Header files are QLib.h, QLib_Defines.h and QLib_SoftwareDownloadDefines.h.
Link libraries are QMSL_MSVC6R.lib and QMSL_MSVC7.lib.
8
QUESTION 3
ANSWER
I want to use QMSL on my factory line, but I do not want to install QDART. What files are required
to use QMSL only?
QMSL_MSVC6R.dll if linked with QMSL_MSVC6R.lib
QMSL_MSVC7R.dll if linked with QMSL_MSVC7R.lib
QPST if using QMSL in QPST mode

QUESTION 4
ANSWER
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I get the source code for QMSL?
No. QMSL is not open source. However, you can observe the low-level diagnostic data sent to the
mobile by enabling QMSL logging.
1
QUESTION 5
ANSWER
Can QMSL library be integrated in other programming environments such as Visual Basic, Java®,
or Perl?
The QMSL library has only been tested in the C runtime environment; it has not been tested in other
environments.
2
3
5.3 QRCT
Released - Internal Use Only
QUESTION
ANSWER
Who should be using QRCT?
QRCT can be used by hardware engineers, technicians, and factory test software developers.
Hardware engineers and technicians can troubleshoot hardware failure or optimize performance.
Factory test software developers can use QRCT to manually calibrate the mobile and run FTM
APIs.
4
5
5.4 QSPR
QUESTION 1
ANSWER
Who should be using QSPR?
Factory test software developers can use QSPR as a reference model to develop optimized
manufacturing test solutions.
6
QUESTION 2
ANSWER
Can I modify XTTs?
No. QCT will only support the XTTs packaged with QDART.
7
8
5.5 Subsys RF calibration
QUESTION
ANSWER
Are NV items written to the mobile after RF Calibration?
NV items are not written to the mobile after RF Calibration. A QCN file, identified by serial number
and test time, is created in the Logs\<Test Tree Name>\QCN folder. The user can view and upload
the QCN file to the mobile later.
