is worth supporting because we help make
Norfolk a safer place to live, work and shop!
Norfolk Crime Line (NCL) was started in 1981 at the request of
then Norfolk Police Chief Charles Grant and a handful of
concerned citizens, with support from the Hampton Roads
Chamber of Commerce. Since then, NCL has gone on to
distinguish itself as a nationally recognized, award-winning
deterrent to crime.
NCL offers cash rewards up to $1,000 to citizens who call a
toll-free number, 1-888-LOCK-U-UP, to furnish information
leading to the arrest of criminals in our communities. Complete
anonymity is assured. Callers are never required to testify or
appear in court.
NCL is a 501[c][3] private nonprofit organization that receives
no government funds. It relies entirely on contributions from
the local business community, civic and neighborhood groups,
and private citizens. All NCL activities, including the cash
rewards for callers, are paid for by these donations. No tax
dollars are used.
NCL’s board of directors is comprised of a wide spectrum of
private citizens who care about their community, offering time
and work without drawing any remuneration.
By supporting our 21st Annual Golf Classic, you are helping
to make Norfolk a safer place to live, work and shop – and on
the Statistics page you will see what the NCL has been able to
accomplish since 1981.
