The idea was originated in Ohio by Donna Sue Groves who wanted to honor her mother, an avid quilter. A “Clothesline of Quilts” has since spread through counties in 28 states including Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio,Tennessee, and now New Jersey. As of the beginning of 2011 there were over 3,000 quilts on display including a trail in British Columbia and Ontario.
