[I have] never worn heels before and I was shocked to see that they had them in my size. So [I] figured if they would go through all the trouble to find them in my size, I might as well use them. Plus protests are fun.” Joey Gray just one of the brave guys that walked in heels to show support. Many students grabbed signs also provided by Yakima Comprehensive Mental Health as they walked around the campus; waving them proudly in the air. Ever wish you could learn more about your favorite subject? Many YVCC classes can now be taken with an honors option. Honors students sign contracts with their instructors that outline the agreed upon extra work. Students who successfully complete their contracts and pass the class with at least a B+ get an “H” on their transcript, indicating that they completed additional honors work. Any student with an interest and a strong academic record may consider taking a course for honors. This is particularly important for students going into highly competitive professions. If you think you might be interested, contact the Honors Program coordinator Heidi Shaw at hshaw@yvcc.edu or talk to your instructor. Having trouble with the YVCC Financial Aid Portal? I believe they are useless abominations of fashion; [ladies] why do you bother putting yourself through that painfully disgusting thing?” Gray asked. Gray also admitted that although his red heels were good looking he would have liked another color of shoe, “I thought [the march] was pretty fun, I was jealous of Noah Hall; his heels were gold and looked far more fashionable and almost cool for a man to wear.” Others, such as Cody Dewitt, didn’t mind as much, “High heels are easy to wear and walk in. I thought it would be harder to walk wearing them than it was. And I hope you liked the pink pumps!” “The march was awesome. Very school spirited and I was amazed at how many guys wore heels,” Said Jamie Davis, ASYVCC, Student Government Vice President. Overall the event had a wonderful turnout and ended up on local news stations. With all the spirit and the amazing turn out for the event and the spirited people chanting for the cause.
