VISIONS
OF THE DIVINE
Featuring drawings by Robert Beer, visionary paintings by John F B Miles,
and contemporary masterpieces by the finest Buddhist and Hindu artists
of the Kathmandu Valley.
October Gallery is delighted to present a unique exhibition of contemporary masterpieces
of Buddhist and Hindu art, which features the work of some of the most skilful miniature
and visionary painters of our time. This show is a sequel to October Gallery’s successful
Radiant Transmission exhibition of 2003, and is drawn from the collection of the British artist
Robert Beer (born 1947). Beer has studied and practised Tibetan art for more than forty years, and
is the author and illustrator of The Encyclopedia of Tibetan Symbols and Motifs. Over the past fifteen
years he has been working with the most talented artists of the Kathmandu Valley, supporting and
nurturing their skills to assemble a unique and extensive collection of contemporary Tibetan and
Newar art. These artists venerate and depict the tantric gods and goddesses of a vast pantheon
with an equal balance of humility and divine inspiration, and may work painstakingly for more
than a year on a single composition. The exhibition will also include Tibetan Buddhist drawings by
Robert Beer and visionary paintings by Beer’s mentor John F B Miles (1944-1997).
Prices are inclusive of VAT and inclusive of frames where appropriate. Giclee prints are unframed.
Prices are correct at the time of publication but are subject to change without notice.
