Ueda, along with artists Naruki Kukita, Maria Tanikawa, Risako Hachioshi, Brian Ormond, Brian Boerner, took inspiration from Ideal Glass Gallery's on August 16th commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Elvis' passing to create a portrait of Jelvis, an actor named Willard Morgan known as Jewish Elvis. Yuko said, " It was a first but, as I got to know the people who organized the event, musicians involved, and cooperated with other artists, it became more exciting." Yuko was yearning to do a collaborative outdoor work with other artists and saw this as a great opportunity. While not a permanent work, it was a chalk and washable paint piece in front of the event space. At night, the sidewalk was illuminated. The piece definitely caught the interest of the passers by. "It was fun to share our work process and Elvis' story with little bit of the community." said Yuko. ■ filmmaker..and showcased theatre performers such as James Cagney and Ethel Barrymore.
