It is setback from the street and marked by a gate house of identical materials and a circle driveway. Other houses of similar age are visible from the site, - --.... _- IOVI .. __ ._- RI This Tudor-style house is one of Farmington's grandest due to its size ana application of design. Its multi-gabled roof highlights its bays arranged in no particular pattern. The main entry is recessed and is flanked by small arched windows. A venetianlike window lies directly above it. An exterior chimney, balcony, and tripartite window are all visible from the east elevation. Three large brick chimneys extend from the middle of the roof. z o ~ e, iX u The gate house features a sloping gable roof, adjoined and garage. Six-over-one sash are displayed throughout chimney. '" w a by a one-story addition the house. Note the brick ILDER In 1907 George G. Williams purchased the "corn lot" on Cedar Street (now Mountain Spring Road) from the Smith family (FLR 77:144). Little is recorded about Williams except that he married Jeanette C. Hunt, daughter of Ebenezer K. and Mary (Crosby) Hunt. Both George and Jeanette died by 1944 leaving this house, probably built in the pring of .1908, and its land· to their two daughters: Mary Crosby Dimmick Byers and Jeanette Hunt Dimmick Deacon (FLR 98:37). Since that time it has changed hands many times. w u z ~ Although little is known about its first owner, the George G. Williams House is architecturally significant due to its state of preservation and representation of the Tudor style.
