Velocette
Manx Museum, Douglas
For the duration of the TT.
The 350cc Velocette motorcycle, ridden to victory by Stanley
Woods In the 1939 Junior TT, is now on display at Manx
Museum in Douglas. The Irish motorcycle racer Woods was
one of the biggest stars of the TT in the interwar years as he
was the first rider to reach 10 TT wins. Woods’ win at the
politically charged 1939 TT was hugely significant, as it was
the only one for British machinery that year and with his win
he showed that British machinery could still triumph.
