This picture reminds me of the journey of the year that was. Perhaps this was the
first time that the students harnessed the courage to take a boat and row it into the
open lake. The waters were formidable and the task was challenging. Yet, the
students took up the challenge and apprehensively dipped the oar and pushed the
boat into the open. The first few strokes were unsure, uncoordinated and tiring.
However, with each stroke grew confidence. Suddenly, the strokes were not that
difficult at all. The journey, though still challenging, was a whole lot more fun. There
were first tentative smiles which soon gave way to laughter. It was the first steps
towards freedom. And as they rowed towards the depth, the vista was simply
mesmerising.

The year that was
Another year has passed, and it is time to publish the yearbook once again. How will we remember this year
in the distant future? The events, moments, and emotions all weave an intricate tapestry of the year that was.
The A Level students would like to remember the previous year in a kaleidoscope represented by this photolog.
Let's start with a memorable fun activity- A Level
Trip to Chitwan and Pokhara. The destinations
were familiar, but the trip was extraordinary. It
was more so because of the company as friends
teased, nagged and discussed with each other
and gave a whole new dimension to the
experience. In addition, the group went seeking
for rarely travelled places in the nooks and corners
of Pokhara, which added to make this trip a truly
remarkable and a memorable one.
Many of the students were
assigned responsibilities to lead
different clubs. This resulted in
organisation of numerous
activities and carrying out various
social and environmental
undertakings.
Milestone-2012
The A Level Inter-college meet brought a galore of medals and
certificates to the participants. The events ranged from basketball,
extempore, presentation, to be-boying! Interestingly, MIS turned
out to be the strongest team (literally) as evident from the
outcome of the tug-of-war event.
It was a proud moment for the MIS A Level and
CBSE students as they competed in The Battle
of Brains with prominent BBA colleges of Nepal.
Our students exhibited their mettle, as they stood
their ground, fighting competitively in events like
case study, advertisement design, no haste with
waste, and team building. We showed the College
students that we are a force to reckon with as
we secured second position in team building
event and third position in no haste with waste
event.
These are but glimpses into the year that was. Apart from these events, there were social awareness
and social service events like Anti-bullying Campaign, Library Establishment in a community school,
talk shows, movie screening, sports tournaments, gaming competitions, research and presentations,
and many more which dotted the past year.
Let me take you back to the picture that I talked about in the beginning. The achievement that the
students have gained this year indicates that indeed the challenges have been met. The students
are now more focused and coordinated in their targeted objectives. From the looks of it, they seem
to have enjoyed the whole experience and have embraced every challenge with positive outlook.
They have shouldered responsibilities and are more independent in their endeavours. They have
reached the depths. Now the question is "How is the vista?"

ANNAPURNA HOUSE REPORT
Success prevails not only because of the leaders but equally participating followers. Unity
lies in believing in the team and staying true to the team’s values. With this guideline we,
the appointees, initiated our journey with our aim to excel.
We started off with a surge of excitement as we secured the 1st position in the Nepali
Recitation. We bagged the 3rd position in the English recitation. Displaying their creative
talents in the Art Competition, Shreya Bajracharya of VIII C and Siddharth Raj Shrestha of
X D both achieved 3rd position in the Junior and Middle group. With a dazzling performance
in the Song Competition, Utkarsh Jha from X A was applauded with the 1st position.
Priyash Parchhai, VII D and Roshan Chhetri, XII E were able to secure 4th and 3rd places.
Even with the combined efforts of the Group Song and instrumental, we were able to
stand only 4th position. While we managed to get 3rd position in the dance competition,
Prathana Dangol, XI F helped secure 2nd position in the Senior Group.
The Teamwork of the Senior Boys was appreciable as they won the 1st position with Satyam
Chettri (XII B) and Mohammad Shahid (XII B) receiving “Man of the Match” title in the 1st
and 2nd matches respectively. The Junior Boys Cricket team was not able to perform well
and yet this did not leave us disheartened. In the basketball for Mid Boys and Mid Girls we
stood 3rd and 2nd respectively. Similar results prevailed in the Senior Boys and Girls
Basketball matches as they achieved the honour of 2nd places.
All of us have worked hard to bring such flying colours and learnt a lot too. We are truly
indebted to all the teachers who have helped us. We would like to extend our gratitude
to our house master Mr. P. Shah and coordinators who have helped us and given us the
opportunity to deliver the best in us. We highly appreciate their efforts in motivating us
to perform to our highest standards and I also extend my best wishes to all the future
appointees.

DHAULAGIRI HOUSE REPORT
Another great year for Dhaulagiri house has gone by but this was not just an ordinary one. We
were declared as “The Cock House 2012-13”. We did our best and this was all because of each
and every member of the team, the staff and the students. Each member deserves to be thanked
for their hard work and support.
The house activities started with Inter House Recitation where our team Abshar Baniya of VII A,
Akshaya Duwadi of VIII C and Ruby Sthapit of IX B bagged the third position. Then came the
song competition where Jaskriti Kaur from XII D made us proud by bagging the 2nd position,
Tsrina Rai from VIII A and Samden Lepcha from IX A bagged the 3rd. Although we came 3rd in
the overall result, this did not dishearten us and we tried hard. We stood first in the Arts
Competition!! In dance competition we stood second and third in English Play. It was not a good
start but we did not give up.
The sports season started off exceptionally well. In Table Tennis Sumeej Tuladhar of XII E won
the first position. The young table tennis players Abshar Baniya and Prakrity Dahl of VI and VII
respectively grabbed the first position. All thanks to our Sports Captain Samip Thapa who was
always enthusiastic about each event, we stood second in junior cricket and grabbed first position
in senior cricket. Then we maintained our position in Badminton and Basketball (mid boys) and
we stood second in football as well. Our team excelled in athletics and soon grabbed the first
position! Furthermore, the excellent performances of the members of the house helped us soar
high.
A house is never complete without its base, roof and pillars. We feel that our Captain Vishakha
Dharewa and Vice Captain Joy Gupta are the base, Celeste Shakya is the pillar and Samip Thapa
the roof. We would like to extend our gratitude to our House Master Mr. S.K Chaubey for
supporting us. Thanks to all the teachers because of whom we have achieved the first position
and we held the prestigious cock house shield together. Best wishes to the future appointees
and hope they achieve greater feats and keep our house colour 'red' flying.

GAURISHANKAR HOUSE REPORT
‘Rank does not confer privilege, it increases responsibility.’
With this motto in minds, we started our journey as the appointees of MIS. Our journey was filled with excitement,
hard work, dedication and sincerity. Our efforts borne us fruits as we gained 2nd position overall “The only joy in
the world is to begin”
So, acknowledging the spirit of discovery behind each new beginning, the co-curricular calendar began with Nepali
recitation and Barun Nepal of IX A made us all proud by winning the 1st prize. The participants of English Recitation
depicted their rhetorical talent and Aryan Subba VIII D and Saiba Rana of IX A, secured the 1st position with Stuti
Chand VIII, claiming the 2nd position. In the Song competition, the mellifluous renditions of the timeless melodies
left no doubt about the skill and proficiency of our participants. In the group song our house emerged as the
winning team. In the solo categories Sudesha Bista VIII C and Saad Qazi of IX B brought laurels by grabbing the 1st
and 2nd position respectively. The victorious result would not have been possible without the guidance and support
of Mrs.Sangita Rana ma’am, Bruno sir and Milesh sir.
The participants of our house danced their intricate steps to perfection and set the stage on fire by securing the
overall 1st position in the dance competition. In the solo dance Shilu Manandhar XII A claimed the 1st position in
senior category. All thanks to the dance teacher Mrs Sunita Pandey maam. The young budding artist of our house
showed their aesthetic knowledge in the Art competition and secured the 3rd positition. But we covered up in
English play where, depicting outstanding dramatic prowess, Saad, Saiba, Bhoomika, Ashir, Ushnish performed ‘The

life to the characters.
The sports captain with his emerging victorious sports team took part in all the sports event, excelled, keeping the
team spirit alive with Saad Qazi, Ayush Jaiswal bagging prizes in many events.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our teachers, especially our house mistress Mrs. Roopa Chawla,
for supporting and guiding us just like a compass in our journey as the appointees of MIS. A big thank you to all
the keen, talented and enthusiastic participants without whom our house would not be where it is right now.
“As the sun rises in the morning, it promises itself that before it sets, it will rise to the highest peak." Similarly our
house will reach the peak and our student members will make our House excel with flying colours in the future
and always be a source of pride for our school. Our best wishes to the 2013-14 appointees and we hope that our
future house bearers will maintain the dignity of the green flag and let the colour green forever glide across the
earth!!!

KANCHANJUNGA HOUSE REPORT
“Life’s battles don’t go to the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later the man, who wins, is the man who thinks he can.”
It’s been a year of mixed feelings. A year in which we smelled the sweet victories of success and
repaired the bitter memories of unfulfilled ambition. It was a year which saw the yellows toil long
hours in pursuit of the ultimate prize and eventually came very close. We worked hard as a unit and
were able to do very well in some of the activities.
We managed to secure the overall 2nd position in both the Nepali Recitation and the English
Recitation Competition with Ashwini Pudasini (VII D) winning the 1st position in the junior group
in both the English and the Nepali Recitation Competitions. In the Song Competition, Pranav Pachhai
of XII B gave a spectacular performance, bagging the 1st position in the senior group. Thanks to
efforts of our participants, we secured 2nd position in the group song. In the Art competition, Prateek
Thakur bagged the 1st position in the Senior Group, with flying colours. Our hard work paid off as
we won the English play competition with Shakespeare’s “The Taming of The Shrew.” Thanks to Mrs.
A. Fitzpatrick and the team.
With the advent of the basketball season we were determined to put in more effort. We stood first
in both the Senior Boys and the Senior Girls Basketball Tournament. Although the senior boys did
not fare well in cricket and football, it did not leave us broken. Our girls put up a splendid performance
and secured the 1st position in the Senior Girls Football Tournament.
In the athletics some of our team members did excel. Aisha Shrestha of Class XII A was awarded the
‘Best Sportsperson of the Year’. The overall result was not impressive but it did not really matter
because of the internal euphoria of having competed in the spirit of true sportsmanship. Kanchanjunga
has achieved so much only because of the unity and teamwork shown by the house members and
appointees. We would like to thank our house mistress Mrs. Anupa Fitzpatrick ma’am for steering
us through in every possible way and teaching us the meaning of teamwork and loyalty. I wish the
future appointees the best and hope that under their leadership Kanchanjunga house goes from
strength to strength.

Educational Trip
2011-2012
Trip for students of class IX, X and XI was held on the 4th May, 15th June
2012 and 20th December 2011 respectively. Classes IX and X had a two
days one night trip, while class XI had a four days three nights trip.
Class XI started their trip to Ghandruk on 20th December 2011 at 6 a.m.
First they were taken to Phewatal where they spent the night at a hotel.
Next day they started their trek to Ghandruk which was more than 8
hours walk. It was dark by the time they reached their destination so
everybody slept after dinner. The following day they were taken to
Gandruk upperhill to the sunrise, mountains and museum. Then they
went to Pokhara on foot. They stayed at a hotel that night and finally
returned back to Kathmandu.
Class IX left school at around 5 p.m. on 4th May, after a cautionary tip
by our Respected Principal, to Nagarkot and reached at sunset after a
four hours journey. There they had bonfire, danced and sang, had supper
and finally retired to their rooms to get a good night sleep. The next day
they could not go for trekking due to rainfall so they went to see the
sunrise by bus and finally returned back to school.
Class X went to Kakani for their camping on 15th June. They reached at
5 p.m. and were overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. They had
bonfire, dance and dinner. After dinner the students and the teachers
danced to the beat of the music. The next morning, they went to Thai
Memorial park built in the memory of the victims of Thai Airways to pay
their respect and condolences and then finally headed back home.
The teachers were not far behind. They also went for trekking to Lakuri
Bhanjyang and Tengboche! Such trips enhance the horizon of the
students, teaches them life skills, values and team spirit. We are grateful
to the teachers who have supported and accompanied us. Lastly, we
look forward to more such educational and refreshing sessions!
