Flip Flop Card Instructions
Flip Flop Card Instructions Basic Flip Flop Card Assembly 1. Before initial use, snap off both rectangle slot dies and set aside. Run larger main die through die cutting machine with cardstock. Place double-sided tape (Scor-Tape or red-lined tape works well) or other strong dry adhesive onto piece as shown. Pull off tape liners, and fold side flaps inward on score lines, starting with the right side flap and then folding in the left side flap. When folded in, these side flaps will reinforce the flip flop mechanism. Pre-fold on all remaining score lines of flip flop mechanism. 2. Following instructions on the Positioning Template included with the die, place the rectangle slot dies onto the appropriate spots of 4” x 5 1/4” cardstock, based on the flip flop panel size you want. Run through die cutting machine. For this tutorial example, we used the LARGE die positions and white cardstock. From the back of the white cardstock piece, insert flip flop mechanism into the upper and lower slits as shown. The upper side flaps of the flip flop mechanism will need to be folded inward when inserting through the top slit. The rounded end of the flip flop mechanism will be inserted through the bottom slit. Open the upper flaps of the flip flop mechanism back up again, above the top slit on the white cardstock. This is the card front: It should like this when viewed from the back: Here is a side view, looking at the top edge of the card: Inky Antics Rubber Stamps 3110 Payne Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114 Phone: (800) 945-3980 Web: www.inkyantics.com 4. On the card front, fold the top piece of the mechanism downward: It will look like this on the back: This is the side view, from the left side edge of the card: Inky Antics Rubber Stamps 3110 Payne Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114 Phone: (800) 945-3980 Web: www.inkyantics.com 5. Here are the “open” and “closed” views of the mechanism in the card front, before attaching the flip flop panel: Open Closed Pull the rounded tab downward to open the flip flop panel, and push it back upward to close the panel. 6. To attach the flip flop panel to the card front, cut and score the appropriate size cardstock piece as listed on the Positioning Template. For this tutorial, we followed the LARGE instructions and scored/folded a 6” x 4 1/4” blue cardstock panel in half to make the flip flop panel: Inky Antics Rubber Stamps 3110 Payne Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114 Phone: (800) 945-3980 Web: www.inkyantics.com 7. Place double-sided tape or dry adhesive onto flip flop panel as shown below. When placing the top edge of the blue panel beneath the top flap of the green mechanism, make sure to center the blue panel horizontally onto the white card. In other words, keep the same amount of white space on the left and right sides of the blue panel: 8. Pull off tape liners, and fold up the blue panel. When the card is closed, the top flap of the green mechanism will be covered and only the rounded pull will show at the bottom: Inky Antics Rubber Stamps 3110 Payne Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114 Phone: (800) 945-3980 Web: www.inkyantics.com 9. On the back of the white card, place double-sided tape or dry adhesive onto flip flop panel as shown below. Do not place adhesive along the top edge of the white card; this part needs to remain unglued so allow room for the flip flop mechanism to work properly. 10. To finish the card, layer the white card onto a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” piece of base cardstock (which is kraft colored in this example): For a video tutorial of these basic assembly instructions, please visit: http://youtu.be/gyP9cjS-B-8 Inky Antics Rubber Stamps 3110 Payne Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114 Phone: (800) 945-3980 Web: www.inkyantics.com From The Whole Flock Stamp Set & Die: 11291MC Birthday Chicks Clear Set IAD-012 Flip Flop Die Cardstock: White 5-5128 Apple Crush 7-7119 Caribbean Breeze 9-960 Kraft Other Supplies: Black Dye Ink Pad Colored Pencils Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits & Blending Stumps Ribbon Slot Punch Green & Blue Checked Ribbon 1. Inky Antics Rubber Stamps 3110 Payne Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114 Phone: (800) 945-3980 Web: www.inkyantics.com 8. After completing step #6 (i.e., scoring the flip panel in half) of the Basic Flip Flop Card Assembly instructions, attach the top edge of the Kraft panel beneath the top flap of the white mechanism, making sure to center the Kraft panel horizontally onto the white card. In other words, keep the same amount of white space on the left and right sides of the white panel. Then lay the pull-out message strip onto the center of the Kraft half-panel, indicated by the arrow below. Make pencil marks on the right edge showing where the pull-out message strip will be placed. Then put double-sided tape or dry adhesive around remaining edges as shown, being careful not to get any in between the pencil marks. Arrow shows where to place the pull-out message strip before marking right edge with pencil. 9. Attach a 3/4" x 3 3/4” barrier strip (shown below in yellow, but can be any color) to lower part of white mechanism flap on the reverse side of the flap. This piece will keep the pull-out message strip from getting stuck inside the card. Arrow shows where to place the adhesive on the reverse side on white mechanism, to attach the yellow barrier strip.
