~Jodi Marquardsen
Hello Everyone,
Boy are the days flying by,
things are in full swing as
usual. We have just finished
up the Spring Gymkhana
Series and what a fantastic
turnout we have had! Hollis
has done a great job in
running the series. Thank
you to him and all the
volunteers that come out and
help make things run
smoothly. Also congrats to
all our participants & to all
of our series winners!
We worked diligently
getting ready for the San
Joaquin County Fair. We ran
the craft beer booth and the
wine booth during the fair &
that was definitely a learning
experience. We did have a
lot of fun & want to thank all
of you that took the time out
of your schedules to
volunteer & come work the
booth. We also put on a 2
day Turn N’ Burn barrel
race, June 15th & 16th, with
$1000 money added each
day. We had quite a few
hoops to jump threw & we
thank everyone that got out
there & helped us make it
happen! We look forward to
a bigger, permanent area for
future races. After the barrel
race Saturday afternoon, we
held our 1st Mutton Bustin’
in the new arena. What a
kick that was! It was a blast
watching the little busters
show us their stuff; it was
fun for all ages! We had such
great feedback & look
forward to being able to do
another one again. It took a
lot of people and
coordination, but we had an
awesome turnout for our 1st
one, what an
accomplishment! Thank you
to all!!
We had to cancel our
Memorial Day camping trip
due to conflicting schedules
but were able to get in a day
ride and BBQ at Round
Valley. The weather was
beautiful and the company
couldn’t have been better.
Only one little snafu, Mary
tried to wrestle with a big
oak tree and lost, all she got
for her efforts was 2 cracked
ribs!
We were supposed to have
a cattle sorting on June 16th,
but have to postpone due to
everyone working the fair.
Next one is scheduled for
Saturday August 3rd, sign up
@ 5pm, sort @ 6pm.
I have been hearing some
complaints about the juniors
in the clubhouse and at the
podium in particular. There
has been a lot of half
finished drinks, hamburgers,
and garbage of all kinds that
get left there. Parents, can
you please talk to your
juniors (and adults if they are
doing it) about picking up
after themselves. Some are
of a mind to not let the
juniors be in the clubhouse
unattended, but I think if we
can just have the
conversation with them we
can fix this.
Thanks to all and remember
– You can’t weigh the facts
if you’ve got the scales
loaded with your opinions.
Jodi

Due to graduations and the
rescue horse make-over we
cancelled our Memorial
week-end camping trip. In
lieu of camping we planned
a day trip to Round Valley.
We had a great time. It was
really windy at the top, nice
at the bottom. The sprinkle
we had passed quickly. Now
back to graduations… Our
thunderous congratulations
to Joseph Rond and Patrick
DeFrain on their high school
graduations. Congrats to
those Graduates I do not
know personally. The horse
rescue make-over is quite a
program. We had the honor
to have 3 of the 8 contestants
be Valley Ranger members.
Mindy Konradi, Megan
Hughes, & Nikki Kuklo.
Mindy took first place for
the $5,000 check and Megan
took the saddle. Nikki had
some really nice training
compliments form the
program director. Everyone
went home happy. Things
are heating up. Come on out
and enjoy the fun.
Happy Trails BEN
