HFS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION Where Caring Counts HFS Credit or Debit - Which do you Choose? When you’re at the store checkout line using your HFS Debit MasterCard® and are asked “debit or credit?” which form of payment do you choose? Do you know what the differences are? Here are the facts: • Both options withdraw the money you’ve authorized from your HFS Share Draft account. Plus, beginning on October 17, 2014, MasterCard® will expand its zero liability coverage to both signature and PIN authorized transactions when fraud is reported to help protect you, should you become a victim of Identity Theft.* • Opting to use “Debit” requires you to authorize your transaction by using your PIN. The funds will be immediately taken out of your account to pay the vendor. Remember, do not write down your PIN number or share it with others. • Selecting “Credit” means that you will authorize your purchase with your signature. Although the money will come out of your checking, it may take several days to post to your account and for the money to be withdrawn. Credit purchases, or those authorized with your signature qualify you for ScoreCard Rewards Points. Redeem your points for merchandise, hotel reservations, car rentals, and more. Attention all Travel Enthusiasts! This could be your ticket to Vegas! Enter for a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas plus a $500 MasterCard® Prepaid Card or other great prizes. Simply use your HFS FCU Debit MasterCard® for your everyday purchases and with each qualifying signature transaction made in the month of October you will be automatically entered to win. For additional information and the Official Rules, visit www.hfsfcu.org and click on the Ticket to Vegas banner. *For more information regarding Zero Liability Coverage for your HFS Debit MasterCard®, please review our Electronic Fund Transfers Agreement and Disclosure located on the web at www.hfsfcu.org.
