Kobey’s to Host Guinness Book of
World Records Sock Challenge!
Come on down - and bring your socks!
Ecocise Bamboo Clothes will launch its eco-friendly high performance line of bamboo socks with a Guinness Book of World Record
Challenge at Kobeys Swap Meet on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from
7 AM - 3 PM.
Ecocise Bamboo Clothes will attempt to break the record of the
largest sock drive in 8 hours at one location by collecting 2460 pairs
of socks. New or gently used socks will be collected.
The company hopes breaking the record will help win it a spot
on the the popular Shark Tank TV show on ABC. Ecocise Bamboo
Clothes is a valued partner of the National MS Society and its 3-Day
Challenge Walk and Bike MS events. Ecosise gives 10% of all sales
to the National MS Society.
As the biggest and best outdoor market in San Diego with nearly
20,000 shoppers every weekend, Kobey’s was chosen as the perfect
location for this record breaking event.
“My family and the Kobey Corporation are excited to be partnered
with Ecocise Bamboo Clothes to achieve and break the Guinness
Book World Record for The Most Socks Collected in an 8 Hour Period,” remarked Anthony Pretto, Kobey’s Operations Manager.
He not only loves Ecocise Bamboo socks, but confidently declares,
“I think we can collect 5000 pairs!”
Kobey's shoppers and sellers please participate by donating new or
gently used infant, youth, or adult size “paris” of socks in the marked
collection boxes as they enter the Kobey’s Swap Meet gates.
All pairs of socks collected during the event will be donated to
charity for the homeless and to women’s shelters around San Diego
County.
Kobey's Employee of the Month
(Ruben is pictured on the right.)
Ruben Lozano is Kobey's Swap Meet's employee of the month for October. He has worked for
Kobeys for little over one year.
Ruben is a member of Kobey's set-up crew which starts work every weekend at 2 a.m. In the
morning, the crew sets up the swap's temporary fencing and preps the grounds for our customers.
During the day, Ruben maintains the property by sweeping and cleaning the grounds around the
Valley View Casino Center. Born and raised here in San Diego, Ruben attended Clairemont High School, and currently lives
in Bay Park. Prior to working at Kobey's, he worked as a Home Care Provider. Ruben loves Chargers Football and being part of a team. We are proud he is on ours!

FINDING YOUR WAY AROUND - Use the Kobey’s Shopper to help find what you’re
looking for or check at the seller’s trailer at the main gate.
BE an informed shopper - You’ll recognize bargains if you know what things cost.
BRING CASH - Many new merchandise vendors will take checks or credit cards, but
most sellers are cash & carry. (Kobey’s has ATMs on site.)
SHOP RUMMAGE SALES EARLY - You may be the one who gets to that hidden treasure
first.
WHEN TO HAGGLE OR NOT - Most garage sellers will probably come down a little on
price, but new merchandise sellers may stick with the posted price. You can ask.
PLAN AHEAD IF YOU’RE BUYING A LARGER ITEM - Most Kobey’s sellers don’t deliver,
though some may have a warehouse closeby. Ask before purchasing.
WEAR THE RIGHT CLOTHES - Comfortable clothing, a hat, sunscreen and walking
shoes are a must when shopping Kobey’s rows of bargains.
CHECK ELECTRICAL ITEMS BEFORE LEAVING - There are outlets you may use to check
electrical items near Kobey’s trailers at the main entrance.
REFUNDS - Vendors are required to post their return policy. If you have trouble with
