Let’s get this
PARTY started!
I’m Disco, a cool
dude ready to
spin some tunes
and bring some
fun into your
home! Right
now I’m enrolled
in the Pawsitive
Partners Prison
Program with
Monty’s Home
and, besides
getting in the groove on good manners, I’m
also learning all kinds of tricks! They tell me
I’m a Beagle/Lab mix, just 4-years-young,
and I’m the perfect fit for almost anywhere.
I had a rough start with heartworms but I’ve
been treated and am ready to rock! You
can read all about the other groovy dogs in
Monty’s Home on page 6 or cut right to the
chase and visit www.montyshome.org to fill
out an adoption application for me! You can
also call 910-297-1338. And don’t forget to
attend the 2016 Pet Expo! It’ll be lots of fun
and helps support dogs like me with Monty’s
Home. See the ad on page 24, please.
A huge thank you goes to that ole time
rocker, Dick Parrott, for my fab photo
shoot! He’s the top dog in my book!

My name is Joy and I’m
a sweet and special girl.
I was rescued from the
streets 2-months ago and
have been adjusting to life in
a foster home where I have
food, shelter, and love on a
regular basis. I’m a little
hesitant trying new things
until they become familiar to
me. I love to run and play
and can be very amusing to
watch. I’ve got the softest
fur and shed very little. I’m
good with other dogs and
excellent with puppies. I’ve
made strides in my development from outside life to the
indoors, and I am sure I’ll
continue to blossom once
adopted. I’m certainly a joy
to have around and would make a great addition to your
home. Please call Columbus Humane Society at
910-234-1681 if you are interested in adopting me.
I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange
in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!

Hi there, my
name is Kit and
I'm 1½-years-old. I
need to find a new
home because my
mom is going into a
facility and she
doesn't want to give
me to the pound.
I'm an indoor-only,
litterbox-trained,
neutered Love Bug
who gets along with
other cats. I'm also
very respectful. I
know when my
mom is sleeping so
I just lie beside her
but when she's
awake, I love petting her nose with
my paw. I'm probably better with
adults. Please help me find a forever home. If you would
like to know more about me or how to give me the happily
ever after that I deserve, my mom's phone number is
910-264-1209. Please call her and don't send a text.

URGENT, URGENT!
My Time Is
Running Out!
My Daddy died and
his family couldn’t
keep me, so now I’m
waiting for a kind and
loving person to take
me home! If it hurts
your heart to think of
a senior girl like me
living outside in a
kennel at the shelter
this winter, I hope
you’ll hurry over! My
name is Baby Girl
(A019455) and I’m a
Lab/Shepherd mix,
about 7 to 10-yearsold. I love people and
I love to go for walks.
I’m awesome on the leash and would be great company for
you as we amble about the neighborhood. I’m also housetrained, friendly to both dogs and cats, and I have a laidback personality. No one has even heard me bark! I enjoy
attention from humans and am quite bewildered at being in a
shelter instead of a warm, cozy home. Won’t you drive over
and meet me? But please hurry! Dogs are brought to the
shelter every day and there’s just not enough room for
us all. For more information, call 910-259-1484 or email
jhorton@pendercountync.gov. I’ll be so happy to see you.
I am sponsored in honor of Kathleen M. Langone.

What Makes Our
Dogs Special
Monty’s Home dogs
are pulled from a local
shelter after a battery
of temperament testing.
They spend the next
eight weeks in the
Pawsitive Partners
Prison Program, living in
the prison and trained
by our inmate trainers
under the supervision
of our volunteers. On
graduation, these dogs
have been crate trained,
taught to walk on a
leash, along with a variety of basic commands.
In addition, our dogs
are spayed/neutered
and up-to-date on all
shots and heartworm
prevention. Our adoption fee includes their
crate, all equipment and
food, along with an
informational and
training DVD and the
invaluable support
system of Monty’s
Home.

NHC RABBIT RESCUE
OF WILMINGTON
ALL 4 CATS
My name is Miracle. I was
pulled off Craigslist for free.
When I came into rescue, I
had some medical issues
due to neglect. I also had
some behavior issues because I didn't feel good. I
have since overcome my
behavior issues for the most
part; however, you will have to remove me from my cage
when you clean it because I don't like humans moving my
stuff around. Otherwise, I am very sweet and somewhat
laid-back. I like my toys and I enjoy tossing them around.
I have come a long way since I first arrived. Please give
me a second chance. If you are interested in adopting me,
email NHCRabbitRescue@gmail.com, call 910-686-9171
or visit us at www.nhcrabbitrescue.com.
SOUTHERN REPTILE SAVIORS RESCUE
My name is Cassanova and I
am a male green Iguana. I am
around 3-years-old and I am
becoming a very sweet boy.
My name is Cassanova because I do love the ladies! It
would be best for me not to
have other iguanas in the
house. I love to free roam in
my own bedroom and I'm pretty
good at escaping a cage. To
learn more about me, please
call Nicole at 910-470-6299.
You can check out our rescue on Facebook at Southern
Reptile Saviors Rescue Inc.
ANIMAL AVENGERS
My name is Frankie and I’m
a young mom who is nursing
a litter of puppies. I am approximately 30 pounds and
sweet as can be. My puppies
and I will be ready for forever
homes soon. Our upcoming
adoption events are
February 6 & 20 from 11am
to 2pm at Unleashed of Wilmington and February 27
from 11am to 2pm at Woof
Gang Bakery and Grooming.
Applications can be
submitted via our website at
animalavengersnc.org. You
may also call 910-777-7186
or send an email to
animalavengersnc@gmail.com for more information.

My name is Lil Man, but I am
actually a BIG boy! I am a
very sweet, declawed cat who
loves having neck rubs. I am
a huge love bug who will purr
all day if you give me affection. I get stressed easily so I
am looking for a calm home
where I can love on my people. I am neutered, I’m up to
date on my vaccines and I’m
also microchipped. Please
call 301-943-4029 to visit with
me. To learn more about our
upcoming events, check us
out on Facebook at www.faceboook.com/all4catsrescue.
PENDER ENDANGERED ANIMAL RESCUE
I’m Da Kidd, an English
Bull Dog mix looking for a
furever home. I am about
5-years-young and very
sweet. I was picked up on
the side of the road and
now I’m safe and looking
for a furever home. I am
a great addition to someone’s household and I
love people. I have a
deep bark and I love to
take walks. Give me a
chance and come see me
soon! For more information, please call P.E.A.R. at 910-675-0867 or email
dogadoption1@gmail.com.
PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM
Hi! My name is Clogger
and I am a 5-year-old male
Walker Hound. I’m part of
the ‘Dance Group’ at Pender
Correctional. For the next
eight weeks my inmate trainers, under the supervision of
Monty’s Home volunteers, will
teach me all my basic commands, along with a few neat
tricks. I am already neutered
and up to date on my shots.
When I graduate in March, I
will be the ideal new member
for some lucky family. If you
think you’re the one, call
910-297-1338, email adopt@montyshome.org, or apply
online at www.montyshome.org. You can also like

CAPE FEAR RESCUE RANGERS
ONSLOW COUNTY
PARTNERS FOR
ANIMAL WELFARE
Hi, my name is Java. I’m
a solid black, short-haired
kitten who is about 3½months-old. I love to play,
love to pounce, and enjoy
looking out of the window
at the world outside
(especially birds and squirrels - they’re fascinating). My
foster mom says that I’m really loveable and fun, and when
I’m ready for a nap, I love to snuggle. I’m your typical kitten - playful, sweet, funny, and of course, irresistible! I get
along with other animals and children. They can carry me
around and snuggle with me. I really don’t mind that at all.
I actually love being snuggled. If you have room in your
home and heart, please call 484-883-3552 or email
ocpaw@yahoo.com.
COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT (C.A.R.E.)
Tired of those
cloudy skies?
Bring bright skies
to your day, always, with me!
I’m Skye. My
bright eyes and
quiet disposition
will provide comfort and companionship on the
rainiest of afternoons. I’m about
6-years-old, fully vaccinated, spayed, healthy and ready to
warm your heart. Please call my friends at 910-256-2624
or email care@aahpcr.com for more information or to
submit an application for my adoption.
COASTAL CANINE RESCUE
My name is Bogart and I’m
2 to 3-years-old, weigh 60
pounds, vaccinated, tested for
heartworms, and neutered. I am
house-trained and crate-trained. I
like to go for walks and do pretty
well on a leash. I know basic
commands like sit and shake. I
am a submissive guy who does
not like cats, chickens or male
dogs who are my size but I do like playing with my foster
sibling (a Boston Terrier). I would do well in a home with
no other dogs or maybe a smaller female dog. I love people and playing with my human foster children. I would like
to have a home with a fenced yard so I can run and play
with my new furever family. To meet me, please email
coastalcaninerescue@ec.rr.com or call 910-470-5554.
My name is Tiki and
I am a lovely senior
Bengal lady. I'm approximately 9 to 10years-old. I'm front
declawed and spayed
so I would be perfect
for your home. A
quieter home would
be ideal for me. My
dad lost his job so
now I'm looking for
my own forever home. If you think you'd like to adopt me,
please contact Cape Fear Rescue Rangers by emailing
cfrangers@yahoo.com or calling 910-259-3502 (be sure to
leave a detailed message with your contact information).
CAROLINA ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY
Hi, my name is Teddy. I
am a medium-haired, black,
neutered male (born September 2014). My mom
and I were left behind when
our family moved away. I
love attention and am very
social. I enjoy cuddling with
my foster mom. I am a little
wobbly because I have
cerebellar hypoplasia. I am
able to do all normal cat
things. I get along well with
other cats and don't mind
my foster mom's dog. I
would love a forever home with lots of love. If you are
interested or have questions, please email
debbiebaldwin@hotmail.com or call 910-330-1376.
Visit our website at www.capsrescue.com.
OPERATION TOPCAT
My name is Liam and I’m a large Siamese Lynx Point boy who is 5-yearsold. I’ve tested negative for FIV and
Feline Leukemia and I’ve been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
I’m a snuggly lovebug. I love attention
and I get along well with most other
cats. I’m a special cat because I have
real food allergies and must eat only
from a certain list of approved foods
(but the list is fairly extensive). Right
now I’m doing well on Royal Canin hypoallergenic dry food
and Friskies canned Pate’ in several flavors. It is very important that I stay on these foods. Otherwise, I will have
skin and allergy issues. My loving nature will more than
make up for my food needs! Do you have the perfect place
in your heart for me? If you would like to meet me, please
call 910-619-7028 or email otopcatnc@aol.com.
February 2016 www.facebook.com/PawPrintsMagazine 9
Hi, my
name is
Katie and
I am 5½years-old.
My foster
mom says
I am a
TRUE
Jack
Russell,
which
means I
run (really
fast), chase squirrels and bunnies (and sometimes catch
them), need a yard with a fence and a home with no small
children. I love my squeaky ball to the point I don't want
any other dog in the house to have it. I am fine with most
dogs, but I need to meet you. I cannot be adopted to a
home with a female Jack Russell, or an alpha male pup. I
really adore my human and am super smart. I sleep tucked
under the covers by my human (she says I sleep like the
dead, but I swear I am protecting her). I am a small spitfire
who is loyal and happy. I am house-trained, crate-trained,
up to date on vaccines, and spayed. If you lead an active
lifestyle and have experience with Jacks, I am your girl!
To adopt me, call Russell Rescue Inc. - Carolinas at
910-821-3504 and leave a message or email
mcbburton@alumni.unc.edu. You can also visit us
online at www.russellrescue.com.
I am sponsored in memory of Oscar and Madison Pour,
two very special, life changing Jack Russell Terriers.
Adopt-An-ANGEL
Please call 910-392-0557 to adopt us!
◄My name is Happy. My
foster mom said that I have
been the most wonderful guest
in her home. If you're looking
for the ultimate best friend and
all-around GREAT family dog,
your search can end right now.
I am house-trained, cratetrained, quiet and so appreciative of all the love humans
can't help but shower me with.
I have my own room in her
house to rest and recuperate
from heartworm treatment. I
spend hours alone with no
complaints or acting out. Just
leave my crate door open and I
do not disturb anything. I only chew on my toys. There has
been no accidents whatsoever in the house, and if I were
allowed, I believe I would play nicely with the other dogs
since I have shown no aggression or anxiety at the sight of
them. I am super affectionate and loving, love to snuggle up
tightly or simply lay my head in your lap to soak up the love.
I am approximately 5-years-old. I would be perfect for anyone looking for a great family dog, or a wonderful companion
and best friend for a single person.
►I am Sebastian
(on the left) and
this cutie pie next
to me is Lucy. We
are two bonded,
white Maltese
lovebugs. We
sleep together,
play together and
became homeless
together. Now
we want to be
adopted together.
We are about 2 to 3-years-old and house-trained. Since we
are small, we need frequent potty breaks. When we came
into a local shelter, we were in rough shape. We were covered in fleas, scabs and had lots of missing fur. Lucy was
much worse. After several months of veterinary care and
foster care, we are blossoming into the beautiful dogs we
were meant to be. We have to eat separately because it
was discovered that Lucy has a food allergy that was causing much of her problems. Now, she eats prescription vegetarian food mixed with water - kinda like cereal. Whoever
adopts us must be able to afford it and promise to continue
it. I can eat anything. We don’t need a home with kids because I suffer from little man syndrome. I weigh about 5 to
6 pounds so you can understand why. Lucy wants to be
held all the time. She is quite demanding and will bark incessantly at you until you pick her up. So, it would be great
if someone were home a lot and liked a little 6 pound lap
dog. Would anyone out there want two little dogs to love?
►My name is
Whitleigh and I am an
adorable Beagle who
experienced some
trauma to one of my
eyes. I have made an
appointment with the
vet to have it removed.
When you meet me, I
will only have one
eye. This disability will
not slow me down one
bit, but it will help
alleviate a lot of pain. I
am really sweet, gentle
and do great with other
animals. I am housetrained, too. Please
support all the good
work that Adopt-AnANGEL does by donating at www.adoptanangel.net. They
treat a lot of dogs for heartworms and remove eyes and
repair broken legs when they can.
◄My name is Holly! I
am about 3-years-old and
I am a little Beagle about
20 pounds or so. I am
shy, but I do warm up
quickly. When I was
turned in to Pender Animal Control, I had one
injured puppy with me.
The group has no idea if
there were others or what
happened. I did test
positive for heartworms
and will begin treatment soon. I am a doll. I do seem to
have some sadness in my eyes, but I also have moments of
play where I will drop to the play position and run around
frantically like a puppy myself.
►My name is Gracie
and I am a 6-monthold Russian Blue.
That’s a rare find in
an animal shelter. I
am super friendly and
love to be petted. I
am a nice lap cat,
too. I like to follow
you around like a dog
and I am pretty vocal. I would do great
with other animals
and even kids. I was
originally found at a car dealership by the mechanics - but
now you can find me at Pet Supermarket on Oleander Drive.

Services or stop by the shelter located at 244 Georgetown
Road in Jacksonville. For more info or to adopt me, call

Allow me to introduce
myself! I am Ruby
(A083384) and I bet I
am the cutest thing you
have seen today! I am
a female, 4-month-old
Plott Hound mix puppy
and my shelter friends
believe I will be about
40 pounds when I am
all grown up. I have
puppy energy so I need
a family who will be
active with me until I
get all tuckered out and
ready for a nice long
nap! If you think I
might be the one for
your family come and
see me! My adoption fee includes a physical examination,
heartworm test, a rabies vaccination and spay surgery.
Wow, what a deal! For driving directions or more information, please call Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services at 910-754-8204. I’ll be waiting!
I am sponsored in honor of all the cats who are
waiting for homes at the shelter.
I am sponsored by Adam's Folly Pet Boarding,
Bolivia, NC. Thank you!
My name is Caleb
and I’ve been to
every adoption fair
since this past
summer. Originally
I was a bottle fed
orphan which
makes me so
friendly! But with
hundreds of kittens
to compete with and
being black, I was
overlooked. Now I
am 9-months-old, I love other cats, kids,
but dogs do frighten me. Please call
Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557 to
adopt me or stop by Petco every weekend
from 11am to 5pm. I’ll be waiting for you.

Please call 910-792-9014 to adopt us!
◄Well, hello there! I'm
Sandy. I'm a white and gray
Tabby female cat, approximately 1-year-old. Before
being rescued, I was a stray
mama cat and was not used
to being indoors. But with a
lot of love, good food, and
playtime, I soon became a
healthy, beautiful girl. I'm
very vocal and I enjoy
playing with adult cats.
I also love to look outside
and watch all the birds.
Won’t you come meet me?
►Hi, I'm a very
pretty kitty who
goes by the name
of Valentina! I am
a dilute Tortoiseshell female who
is between 3 and
5-years-old. I was
rescued from the
Columbus County
Animal Shelter.
I am sweet and
friendly, spayed,
and vaccinated. I get along well with others and would
make an excellent addition to a home that already has a
kitty around the same age or older. I am still quite playful,
so I could get along well with a younger cat, too. Please
come visit me soon to see if we might be a good match.
▲Hi, I'm Pixie! I'm a black and white girl, approximately
1 to 2-years-old. I'm shy towards strangers, but if you give
me a little time to earn your trust, I'll come out of my shell
and be a super-loving and playful kitty. I get along well with
cats, kittens, and well-behaved dogs, both big and small.
Come meet me at the Petsmart C.A.T. adoption center!
Wilmington, NC
We’re at Petsmart 7 days a week.
◄I'm Vinny! I'm a
6-month-old gray
Tabby boy. I'm
handsome, sweet,
and friendly. I was
a bit shy when I
first got to the
adoption center,
but it didn't take
me long to open
up once I got
familiar with this
place. I enjoy the
company of other cats, too! My foster mom is Debbie and
you can call her if you have any questions: 910-547-0107.
To meet me, I'm at the Petsmart C.A.T. adoption center.

►Hi, I'm Cecilia!
I'm a 1-year-old Calico/
Tortoiseshell female with
beautiful, unique markings. I
am a sweet girl who loves to
be petted. I can be a bit shy
at first, but it won't take me
long to warm up once
I get to know you. I was
brought to the adoption center with my babies, and two
have already been adopted.
Everyone loves kittens, and I
surely had some cute ones, but please don't overlook
a sweet and beautiful kitty like me!
◄Hi, I'm Phin!
I'm a 6-month-old
black male kitten.
I purr when the
wind blows and am
so curious that I've
hopped into the
fridge once or
twice. I have been
fostered in a home
with cats and large
dogs, so getting
along with others is not an issue. My foster mom has had a
hard time letting me go, but I know there are plenty of awesome people out there who can give me a good forever
home. Are you one of those people? I'll be waiting for you!

Don't let my
name, Stinky,
fool you. I sure
am sweet and
not stinky at all!
I love attention
and will give you
plenty of affection. I am a
4-year-old girl,
healthy, vaccinated, spayed
and ready for a
fabulous home.
I came to
C.A.R.E. because I was
found with my
collar caught around my neck and shoulder. It had been
that way for a while and resulted in a terrible wound that
took many months to fully heal. Now I am plump, happy and
ready to go! For adoption information, call 910-256-2624
or email care@aahpcr.com.
I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who
supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).
I’m a Weimaraner
named Bruce! I have
all the typical characteristics of a Weimaraner and with extra love
to give. I came to
C.A.R.E. with a broken
leg, severe mange and
heartworms but guess
what? I’m all better.
Now I’m just anxiously
waiting for a fun family
that will take me to the
beach, the park and
give me a large, cozy
bed to call my own. I
get along well with
other dogs and love to
go to group dog play.
If you are looking for a
running companion or
a skipper to your captain, I’m the guy for you! For adoption
information, call 910-256-2624 or email care@aahpcr.com.

►Like a beautiful
flower, Camellia, I am
a bright, beautiful Calico kitty. I can still be
called a kitten because
I’m only 11-months-old.
They say I have a paw
print on my hip so I look
like the only feline
member of Paw Patrol.
I don’t know what that is but evidently, it’s a kid’s cartoon.
So enough with that foolishness, just come see the
prettiest flower in the building.
◄Like the wacky
Noodle your kids play
with, I am just as
much fun - probably
more. I’ll keep those
kids out of your hair,
playing with them all
day long and then
we’ll all go to sleep on
the bed! I am a
9-month-old mostly
white, with a few buff
patches, male kitten. I
am just under a year
old so plenty of time for those kids and me to play together.
►If you adopt me, I
Promise to love you ‘til
death do us part! That’s
as good a deal as you can
get. I am a 9-month-old
boy and I’m mostly white
with a few buff patches. I
have beautiful, dark,
rust-colored eyes. I love
to sleep in a bag so you’ll
never have to waste
money on cat beds for me.
Just bring home a couple of bags every week and I’m set!
◄Since I’m named after VicePresident Agnew, I must be
very special. And indeed I
am! I am a beautiful 9-monthold, dark orange-marbled
Tabby. They say I am a little
shy, but really I am just reserved like all politicians have
to be. I do play well with others, another requirement for a
good leader. So if you need
to class your act up, I would
be the perfect choice.
►Rochelle,
Rochelle, just
like the Seinfeld episode.
I am the most
unusual looking pastel
Calico. My
face is a perfect checkerboard. I am
two quarters
orange and
two quarters
gray. It took
me a while to
get used to this shelter thing, but man-o-man, now I am the
sweetest cat. Sometimes I amaze myself I am so sweet. I
am only 10-months-old so I am also still a kitten in cat age!
◄Where’s
Laverne? Will
you be my
Laverne? My
name is Shirley,
as you might
have guessed. I
am tired of everyone asking where
Laverne is. I
don’t know. She
left me in this
shelter obviously.
I am a 2-year-old
black and white
female with the
biggest googly
eyes. I don’t really like other cats, but I just love people
and would love to spend the rest of my life surrounded by
humans. Can you help me with that request please?
►I had to get away
from Lamar, so I ran
to this shelter. Can
you guess who I
am? If you guessed
Khloe, you would be
correct. I am a
10-month-old white
kitty just trying to get
out of a bad relationship. I love people
way too much and
that is why I am in
this pickle. Please
come rescue me and
I promise you won’t
be disappointed. I will never give up on our relationship.

URGENT,
URGENT!
My Time Is
Running Out!
Labrador Retrievers are America’s
most popular
breed, so why on
earth am I running
out of time at a
shelter? My name
is Fletcher
(A019461) and I’m
a 2-year-old Yellow
Lab boy who was
found as a stray. I
have a sweet, laidback nature and
am ready to be
your most devoted
and loyal companion. I enjoy going for walks around the shelter with the
workers here, but I’d much rather be walking around the
neighborhood or on the beach with you! I’m friendly to
other dogs and I enjoy meeting new people. Won’t you
please come visit? We might be a perfect match! But
hurry - dogs arrive at the shelter every day and there is not
enough room for us all. The shelter is open 8am to 5pm
Monday through Friday, Noon to 4pm on Saturday and 1pm
to 4pm on Sundays. For more info, call 910-259-1484 or

◄I’m a darling boy named
Andrew and I’m ready to
steal your heart away! I
came to the shelter with my
sister, Adina, pictured beside me. Our owner travelled a lot and couldn’t take
us with her, so we are
searching for new families.
I’m an orange and white
Tabby, just 7-months-old.
I’m already neutered and
am used to living indoors.
I enjoy playing with toys
and I get along with other
cats. Let me be your boy!
◄My name is Adina

girl, just 7-months-old.
I arrived at the shelter

▲Hello there! My name is Bella and I’m a beautiful,
ebony-haired girl with a sweet and loving disposition. I’m
just 1½-years-old, spayed, vaccinated, litterbox-trained
and used to living indoors-only. I lost my home due to a
family illness. I hope to be part of a family again soon!
◄Looking for a
well-mannered and
friendly family dog?
Look no further! My
name is Torque
and I’m a 2½-yearold Black Lab who
is ready to be your
new best friend! I’m
house-trained and
crate-trained, I
know how to sit and
stay, and I’m used

living inside with my
family. I’d prefer to

I’m in great health.

◄I’m a beautiful Calico
girl named Nellie! My
story begins when I
wandered up, lost and
alone, to a kind man’s
house with my kitten.
He took care of us until
we could come to the
shelter. My kitten has
found a family, and I’m
looking for one, too!
I’m in great health
(spayed, up to date on
shots and litterboxtrained) and I’m just
1½-years-old. I like
attention from humans
and I enjoy being
picked up and held. I’d prefer to be the only cat in the
household, please. Hurry over and let’s have a meeting.

Hi there! I’m Lucy Lou
and I’m hoping you’ll
read all about me. I’m
an adorable girl who
was found in the
woods by a very nice
man. A light chain was
around my neck and it
had gotten caught in
some branches, rendering me unable to
move. Wasn’t I lucky
he found me! At the
vet’s office they
searched for a microchip but I didn’t have
one. This must mean
that I am destined for
you! Won’t you please
come meet me? I am so gentle and loving and I enjoy
meeting everyone. You can see from my photo that I sit
on command like a champ. I get along great with other
dogs, but I’m a little too interested in cats, so a cat-free
home would be best. I’m 2-years-old, spayed and vaccinated, and I have been diagnosed with heartworms. Not
to worry, Pender Humane Society is treating me at no cost
to my new family. You can even foster me now during the
treatment and adopt me once it’s complete. It’s their
‘Foster-to-Adopt’ program. Please call Pender Humane
Society at 910-259-7022 if you are interested. They’ll be
happy to tell you more!

►I’m pretty sure you can
guess how I got the name
Mr. Whiskers (A332007).
Just look at ‘um! I’m an
adult male cat who is an
expert biscuit maker.
That’s probably because I
make them all the time. I
was picked up as a stray
and brought here to the
shelter to find a forever
family. I like to talk and I’m
very charming. I will even
roll over for attention. I’m
hoping you’ll whisk me
away and give me the happily ever after that I’m dreaming of. Oh yeah, it would be
really groovy if you’d shower me with love and cat toys.
◄Because of a horrible
apartment complex (that
shall remain unnamed), my
family had to surrender me
to the shelter. Apparently,
they have a ‘no pet policy’
and have no concept that
fur kids are forever. My
name is Joey (A322511)
and I enjoy being rubbed
and I crave feeling loved.
So as you can imagine, I’m
finding homelessness in a
shelter to be far less than
desirable. I’m a 3-yearold, neutered boy who is
very loving and social. I’m
also curious and playful and ready to make a life long commitment to my new family. I really hope it’s you.
OPEN SATURDAYS!
◄Short and sweet, that’s me!
I’m Samantha (A333450), a
10-year-old Bassett Hound
mix. I’m the funniest mix because I have a Bassett-sized
body and a head that reminds
everyone of a Labrador. I’m
homeless through no fault of
my own. My former family
brought me to the shelter
because the landlord said I
wasn’t welcome to live there.
So now I’m looking for a true
forever family who will love and
spoil me for the rest of my life.
I am house-trained, good with
kids, cats and birds and I know
how to sit, stay and come when called. I also know the
meaning of treats, cheese and eat. I’m an inside dog who will
love going for adventures outdoors with you. I love to ride in
the car, I’m good on a leash, and I love to chase balls.
►My name is Foxy Lady
(A332131) and I’m a very
pretty girl who is just
2-years-old. I’m what
folks call an American
Fox Hound mix. I’m as
sweet as can be and a
typical Hound as I love to
investigate and check out
everything. I was found
as a stray and would give
anything to be your new
best friend. I’ve already
been spayed and vaccinated so I’m ready to go
home with you today.
Can’t wait to meet you.
►You can just look at my
face and tell that I’m just as
sweet as can be. Just ask
anyone at the shelter and
they’ll tell you the same
thing. I’m a Terrier and
Labrador mixed girl who is
6-months-old. I’m just as
loveable and playful as any
pup should be and I will be
a fabulous addition to any
loving family. My former
family was not able to properly care for me so I’m here
at the shelter looking for my
special someone. I’m
house-trained, crate-trained, good with kids and know how
to sit on command. Please contact the shelter today and
ask about me, Mopar (A333229).
◄I’m a fun and playful girl
named Sweetie (A332082).
I’m a 2-year-old Plott Hound
mix who was found as a
stray. I love going for walks
and I’m easy to handle on a
leash. I’m super friendly and
they say I’ve never met a
stranger. I enjoy checking
out everything around me
and would love to be part of
your family. Everyone here
is certain that I will make a
terrific, happy-go-lucky forever friend! Please contact
the shelter today and let’s get
this love affair started.

My name is
Jean Grey and if
you can't tell by my
picture, I'm quite the
character. I have
been with Merit Pit
Bull Foundation
(MPBF) for a long
time. I was what
they referred to as “a
hot mess" but both of
my foster moms have
helped me find myself and become the
special girl they knew
I could be. I have
daily medications
that help me understand that things
aren't so scary. I love to play with my wubba and I will
drop it and fetch it for Momma Rae and her friends. I get
to go on walks with other MPBF doggies. My favorite part
of the walks is when I get to splash around in the water.
I'm a big girl, but I don't pull on my leash - I just like to
wander around at a slow pace and I'll help you up those
big hills, don't you worry! I'd really love to find that special
family who understands me and I would love to have a
furry sibling or be an only child - I'm not too picky! Momma
Rae says she will help you understand me, just give her a
shout at info@mpbf.org, visit www.mpbf.org or call Merit

Hi, my name is Marvin and I am a 10-year-old male
Dachshund. I don’t know what I did wrong that made my
former owners dump me at Pender County Animal Services. Thankfully a kind lady spotted me and contacted
Furever Friends Animal Rescue (FFAR). I am in need of
dental work (which FFAR will be sure I receive). I can be a
little shy at first but I’m finding out that humans can be very
nice. I need a new family who will not toss me aside but
will understand that I am a living being with feelings who
deserves respect and a loving home. Please consider
adopting me, I promise to love you right back. Please call
Furever Friends Animal Rescue at 910-617-3760 for more
information on how to adopt me.
I am sponsored in appreciation of everyone who has
rescued a homeless animal.
My name is Storm, on the left, and my brother is
Thunder, pictured on the right. We are two 5 to
6-month-old kittens who got passed over this fall when
there were hundreds of tiny kittens to compete with.
People who come to look for kittens now tell us that we
are “too old.” That’s really unfortunate because they are
missing out on two wonderful brothers. Our foster mom
would like us to go together so she has paid the second
adoption fee. We don’t have to, but we would really love
it if we could stay together forever. We play, romp, sleep
and groom one another. We do really well with other
animals, too. Come meet us at Petco every weekend! If
you would like to know more, call Adopt-An-ANGEL at
910-392-0557.
We are sponsored in honor of all the wonderful
foster mommies and daddies who care for
homeless animals.
Hi, my name
is Pepper and
Pender Humane
Society has been
my home for over
2-years now. I am
mostly blind but I
can see shadows.
Don't let that stop
you from coming
out to meet me.
I was found in a
ditch in Hampstead and was
heartworm positive but now I am
heartworm free. I
absolutely love
people and I function like any other
dog. I see shadows and I can walk around just fine. I tilt
my head in order to see better and sense what’s around
me. (To see me play fetch, please watch my video at
www.Facebook.com/PenderCountyHumaneSociety). I
do well with other dogs, too (girls especially), as long as
we are introduced slowly. In fact, I would probably benefit from another dog in the home to act as my ‘seeing
eye dog’. I am young, between 4 and 5-years-old, and
I weigh 40 pounds. Please contact Pender Humane
Society if you are interested in adopting me or have any
questions about making me part of your family. Their
number is 910-259-7022. I deserve that happy ending!

◄My friends call me
Tiger (29450706) and
I’ve been at the shelter
since the end of August. That is far too
long for a pup to have
to wait for a happily
ever after. As you can
imagine, I get quite
excited when a potential family visits me and
I tend to bark a bit in my
kennel when someone is near. The shelter employees think
that causes people to overlook me. I don’t have any barking
issues outside of the kennel. It can be so difficult on us long
term residents here, despite the love and care we’re given. A
shelter is just not the same as a warm, cozy, loving home.
Once given some time to adjust to life outside the shelter, I
will be a terrific companion. I just need someone to give me a
chance. I’m a 3-year-old Pitbull mix who is neutered.
►I thought I’d already found my
happily ever after
when I was
adopted in 2014.
Unfortunately, I had
nowhere else to go
when my owner
recently passed
away. So I’m back
and looking for
someone to heal
my wounded heart.
My name is Otis (30543385) and I’m a wonderful, 7-yearold boy who loves a good scratch on the head. I was an
outdoor dog in my previous home, but I would really love to
live out my golden years napping inside on a soft cozy
bed. I’m a neutered, Lab and Shepherd mix who is ready
to be your best friend. If you are looking to share your
heart and home with a senior pet in need, I’m your boy.
►Hi, my name is Meeka
(30440342)! Are you looking for a
running partner? A friend to take
to the beach? Are you an on-thego kind of human in need of a sidekick? If you are looking for a funloving, spirited girl, then I am your
pup! I love to run, I love the outdoors and I am no couch potato. I
am looking for a home with a yard
to run in and a family who will include me on all their adventures. A kennel is no place for a girl like me - take me home
with you today! I’m a 10-month-old, female Hound mix. Adoption fees at our shelter include core vaccinations, 1-year Rabies tag, spay/neuter, microchip and 30 days of free pet insurance. A pretty good deal and a new family member all in one!
►I’m a very sweet boy
named Simon (29731600)!
I’m also a 3-year-old, special
needs American Bulldog
mix. I am deaf, but I don't
ever let that hold me back
from living life to the fullest.
I’m in a foster home right
now and thriving, but I’m
really hoping that my forever
family comes for me soon.
My new family will need to
be patient and understanding, as having a deaf dog
can be a bit of a challenge,
but I will give back so much
love and happiness in return. I’m great with other dogs,
love to play and snuggle on the couch, and adore to run so a big backyard is definitely on my wish list. Please give
the gift of love to a special needs pup and choose me.
Adoptions increased 29.4 % in 2015!
◄My name is Annie
(30532604). Don't let my
serious picture fool you I am a happy, energetic,
beautiful little lady who
is looking for a family to
spend my life with. At only
6-months-old, I am still very
much a puppy and have lots
of wiggly, puppy energy.
Aussies are a working breed
and tend to get bored if not challenged, so a big yard to run in
and an active family willing to keep me moving will be best for
me. I am a very smart girl and have learned how to sit and,
with just a little work, I will learn all of my proper puppy manners in no time. If you are looking for a clever, fun-loving and
affectionate pup, I am just the girl you are looking for!
244 Georgetown Rd., Jacksonville, NC
►I’m a very
handsome,
1-year-old
kitty named
Sterling
(30560083)!
I’m still very
much a curious, active
and playful
kitten. I have
a good
amount of affection and "catitude" that will make me an
ideal companion for children as well as anyone wishing to

Howdy! My name
is Ramses and I'm
around 1-year-old.
My foster mom
says I have a tiny
frame for a Pit Bull,
but I make up for it
with my gigantic
personality! I currently have three
foster siblings and
three human kids
and it gives me the
chance to play a
lot. I never have
accidents in the
house or in my
crate. I know how
to sit and stay and
will wait for someone to call me. I get really excited about
treats, so I haven't mastered leave it yet, but I will because
I'm smart! I love to cuddle and snuggle on the couch or lay
in the sun with a toy. My favorite summer activity is playing
in the baby pool in the backyard. I like to try to catch water
coming right out of the hose or lay in the water in the pool.
I'll even run full force into the pool and slide onto my back!
It's funny and I love to hear my foster mom laugh. If you'd
like a handsome fella, who loves to play, join your family please check out my album on Merit Pit Bull Foundation’s
Facebook page. I'm waiting for you! Call 1-336-618-PITT
or visit us online at www.mpbf.org for more information.

Virgo, a girl
Aries, a boy
Our love could be written in the
stars! We are Virgo, Gemini and
Aries, three adorable kittens who
are ready to purr and cuddle with
new families. Our mother wandered up to someone’s porch and
gave birth to us there. Now we are
warm and cozy at the shelter, hopping and skipping around the room,
Gemini, a girl
chasing toys and melting hearts.
We are just 10-weeks-old and very
people-friendly. We each love to be held and kissed.
Won’t you hop in the car and come meet us? We’ll put a
smile on your face and hopefully you’ll fill out an adoption
application before leaving. If you have any questions, call
Pender Humane Society at 910-259-7022.
Sponsored in memory of Milo,
the big black dog who stole our hearts!

◄Hi, I'm Jersey girl! I'm
known as one of the "cow"
puppies because our litter of
ten is white with black markings. My parents are 50
pound Pointer mixes. I was
born at Paws Place in November and am having lots
of fun. Currently I enjoy
running and playing with my
siblings so another dog or
children in the house might
be great. It would be so nice
to enjoy a warm, fun-loving
home to call my own.
Please come by the kennel any day to meet me!
▲Hi, I'm Bosley! I was found as a stray in Boiling
Spring Lakes at the beginning of 2015. I'm a young boy
of just 2-years and I weigh about 40 pounds. I get along
with everyone, people and dogs! I have a great nose
and would love to be adopted by someone with a yard
where I can sniff and play. Will you come meet me?
◄Hi, I'm Casper! I'm
about 25 pounds and
4-years-old. They say I
might be a Corgi/Jack
Russell Terrier mix. I
had a tough home life
before coming to Paws
Place and I am slowly
learning that people offer
kindness and affection.
I'm friends with a large
play group of dogs and
would love to join a home
with another dog who I could learn from. I have learned to
trust some of the volunteers at Paws Place, but it has taken
time. I'm becoming braver and enjoying our Meet & Greet
events. If you have a patient, loving home, consider me!
(Call for a pre-adoption application and adoption fee info.)
◄Kisses, kisses,
kisses! Hi, I'm
Scarlet. I'm a
friendly, active
puppy who was
likely born in midSeptember. I like
to wrestle and
run. I get along
with other dogs
and love to tug
on rope toys with
people. I know
how to sit and
walk nicely on
a harness and
leash. They say I'm quite a catch! I'm also spayed and
up to date on vaccines. Let’s meet soon, okay?
◄Hello, it's
me, Walker.
I'm such a
gentle, sweet
older fella.
I am about
9-years-old
and 65
pounds.
I'm at
Paws Place
through no
fault of my
own. You see, I was adopted from Paws Place years ago
and unfortunately my human passed away. I would love to
join another family. In my spare time I enjoy walks and being
brushed. Sometimes I even keep up with the active dogs in
play group. I play hard, then rest hard. Will you come by the
kennel to walk me and see if we're a good match?
◄Goodness, I'm exited
about life! They call me
Sally. I'm a 6-month-old
Shepherd mix girl who
weighs in at about 35
pounds. I love people
and playing with my toys.
I am a chatter box and
like to "talk" to the volunteers. If you have lots of
energy and are looking
for a new family member,
stop by Paws Place to
meet me. I haven't mastered the leash and harness yet as it seems to
be a long toy. I do love
learning, though.
Will you be my teacher? I’ll give you love in return.

Hi! I am Missy
and I am a ball
of fire! Well,
that's what my
foster siblings
say, anyway! I
came to the
rescue in a
plane ride and
have been living the dream
ever since. I
didn't have
much structure
in my past life,
but I am so
happy, easygoing and loving that I want to learn - and I think I have
done a great job! I wasn't house-trained, but now am 95%
there! I love to snuggle, give kisses, and have fun! I make
my foster mom laugh! I am spayed and up to date on all
vaccines. I love to play and would do great in a home with
playful pups and kids. Let my foster mom know that you
want to snuggle with me! To adopt me, please call Russell

My name is Kato and I am a beautiful, black and white
mantle Great Dane and Lab mix. I have the good looks
and sweet personality of a Great Dane but I get my pint
size from another breed – talk about the perfect combination! Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love (GDFRL) found me
abandoned at the end of a country road and were so
sweet to take me in and help me find my forever home.
My vet says that I am about 6-months-old. I enjoy car
rides, kiddie pools, chasing balls, tug of war, and just playing with my foster brothers and sisters (human or furry).
I’m even working on my Frisbee skills! I am crate-trained
and potty-trained. I know “sit” and “down” and am working
on my “leave it.” I am also working on coming to my foster
mom and dad when called, eating with the rest of the
pack, and mastering hugs and snuggles! I would love to
go to a home with folks who will continue to work with me

I’m a 2-year-old girl and
it’s believed that I’m a

If you have an active

great for me! I am only
about 35 pounds so I’m

I have the sweetest brown eyes. How about hopping in

Our mom is Autumn, pictured above us, and she is
small. Our dad might be a
larger dog as we are just

half the size of Mom. We
are very friendly, loving
and playful pups. Hurry

►Hi Folks! My name is
Brutus and I am a handsome young Rat Terrier. I
weigh about 20 pounds
and was surrendered by
my male owner due to
work changes. I loved my
man but now I am being
fostered in a home with a
single lady and her big
Chocolate Lab. I am having fun here but would
love to have a forever
home before I become too
attached here. I like other
dogs and all humans but I
tend to be just a little shy.
I am house-trained and
don't mind my crate. Would you please contact R.A.C.E.
and make an appointment to come and meet me?
►My name is Tigger and life certainly can change quickly for dogs.
My owner recently passed away
and at 12-years of age, I found myself in a shelter. Fortunately,
R.A.C.E. pulled me from the shelter
and I am now in a wonderful foster
home with three other dogs and two
humans. Because my original mom
left me suddenly, I have really
bonded with my foster mom. I do
well with other dogs and humans
but I am a bit possessive of my people. I am healthy and house-trained
and still have energy even though I am 12-years-old. As
you may know, Chihuahuas can live a long and happy
life, so I am still young at heart and I only weigh 5
pounds. If you are looking for a sweet, small girl to love,
I'm waiting to hear from you!
◄My name is Scrappy and my
sister and I suffered a pretty major
loss when our human Mom died.
We ended up in the shelter but,
luckily, R.A.C.E. pulled me and I
am now in a foster home with a
new mom and dad. I am doing
really well and sort of like being
here alone with them. I am house
-trained and very healthy. I am a
12-year-old Chiweenie who is
small and happy. My foster mom and dad are calling me
Happy because that describes my personality. I am hoping to find my forever home soon so that I can learn all
about my new family and we can live a happy and fun life
together. Remember, Chiweenies can live a long time so
we have lots of fun years ahead of us!
◄My name is Sally Jo and I have
been featured in PawPrints Magazine a few times before but I think
and hope that this will be my lucky
month. You have to admit that I am
a beautiful girl and February is the
month of LOVE so maybe you
could love me like I deserve. I have
had a difficult time adjusting to the
world inside a house as I spent my
first few years outside and mostly
alone. Now, I have learned that
humans and other dogs can be
trusted and that living indoors is
really pretty nice. I have learned that being on the couch next
to a human can be rewarded with a belly rub and I really like
that. I am house-trained and I love my crate - my crate offers
me comfort so you can feel free to crate me as needed. Give
yourself a wonderful gift of love and come meet me.
►If you are looking for a
nearly perfect senior dog, I
am your guy! I am Nick, a
very healthy 12-year-old Chihuahua who is house-trained
and loves other dogs and all
humans. I even live with cats
and they don't bother me at
all. I have been in a great
foster home since right before Christmas but I think it is
time for me to move on to my
forever home. I am ready to
share with you how much I love to snuggle and cuddle. After
snuggling and cuddling, my next favorite thing is playing ball.
As you can see from my picture, no ball is too big or too small
for me to play with. I like to take walks and just hang out so if it
sounds like you and I could do that together, please call and
come meet me soon! I bet you won't be sorry!
►My name is Sampson and I
am still waiting for my forever
home. I am disappointed that
you have not come to meet me
yet. There is still time for you
to schedule an appointment
because my foster mom says
she will keep me until I get
adopted. She is a dog trainer
so she is teaching me all sorts
of good manners. I like other
dogs and humans and still
have lots of puppy in me since I am probably only about
2-years-old. I may be a Lab/Pit mix but who knows for sure.
I am very handsome. I am heartworm negative and housetrained. I am completely vetted and microchipped so I am all
ready for my forever home. Please come to meet me soon!

◄I'm Elvis and can you
guess why?
‘Cause I ain't
nothin' but a
Hound dog!
I'm a handsome
Walker Hound
mix, about
2-years old. I'm
a little shy in
new situations
but it doesn't
take me long to get adjusted. And when I do - I'm a love bug!
But I definitely need a place to run because that is one of my
favorite things to do! I am working on my leash walking and
commands. And as an added bonus - I'm microchipped!
►I may be 40 pounds but I'm 40 pounds of
LOVE! My name is
Raven and I'm close to
2-years-old. They think I
am a Lab/Collie mix and I
have the softest fur. I’m
just perfect to snuggle
with! I'm fully vaccinated
and I also have a microchip! I'm a sweetheart
and I don't know what I
like more - playing or sitting in your lap. SOAR
volunteers have been
working with me on my
leash walks and commands and I am making
progress. Won’t you come meet me soon so that I can
shower you with all the love that I have to give?
◄I know it's hard to tell
with my photo being in
black and white - but I
have the most crystal
blue eyes you have ever
seen! Just look into them
one time and you will be in
love! My name is Tux and
I was surrendered to
SOAR when my owner
had to move and couldn't
take me with her. I’m a
sweet guy, about 4-yearsold, but I still have a lot of
energy so a fenced-in yard
for me to run and play would be ideal! In my old house,
I stayed inside most of the time, so I am house-trained. I
had two human sisters and a puppy sister and we all got
along great! Can't wait to meet you!
►Hello, I’m Minion! I
got my name because
I was tiny when I first
came to SOAR. That
was 9 months ago. A
lady saw me get thrown
out of a car window on
the highway! Thank
goodness she took care
of me until I was able to
come to SOAR! As you
can see, I have grown
into a very handsome
boy. I’m super-sweet and have a purr that goes on for
days! I do ok with other cats. In fact, I had a feral kitten
living with me in my cat kennel for awhile until she got
adopted! I do get scared and defensive around dogs, so I
should live in a dog-free household. Come meet me today!
►I know you have seen me in
here before and I don't know
why I'm still at SOAR! I'm
Oliver. My two brothers and I
came to SOAR as tiny kittens that was almost 3-years ago!
For some reason, they got
adopted but I never have! And I
really don't understand why! I
am always on my best behavior. I don't mind if you pick me
up and I love to talk! I'm a
sweet boy and I live in the open
room with other cats - so if you
give me time to adjust and introduce me to another cat the correct way - I think I would be ok.
But if you just want me to be your one and only kitty, that
would be fine, too. Please consider taking me home!
►If you are looking
for a sweet boy who
loves to love - your
search has come
to an end! I'm
Shiro and I'm a
short-haired beauty
who is approximately
3½-years-old. I love
to hang out with my
friend Taz, who is in
the FeLV cattery with
me. Yes - I said FeLV. That means I have Feline Leukemia. It's nothing contagious to humans or dogs - only to
other cats through scratching and biting. FeLV cats can
live long, happy lives with understanding and care. I love
chilling in the sun and of course curling up in my cat
bed. I hope you won't let my "condition" stop you from
experiencing the love I have to give!

8-month-old kitten who
needs to find a home. Me
and my littermates were
rescued and were very
lucky that our foster mom
had a Mama cat who took
care of us and nursed us
back to health. I am neutered, FIV and Feline Leukemia negative and I've
had my Rabies vaccination.
I love other cats and ignore
the dogs and I’m very outgoing and playful. Don't
you need a new companion for the new year?
Call 910-271-3101 and let's get together.
Pet Friends of Duplin County
Hi, I'm Biff (the handsome
guy on the left) and next to
me is my sweet sister, Buffy.
We’re 10-months-old and
have gorgeous mediumlength, buff colored fur. We
love to play with toys and
with each other and we're
litterbox-trained. I'm the outgoing one who likes to get in
laps, be petted and take
naps. Buffy is a little more
shy but she comes to you to be petted and enjoys some
lap time. We are healthy, vaccinated and fixed. We would
love to find a home for both of us because we are so
bonded. To give us a good home, call 910-285-4155.
I'm Faye, a Weimeraner/Lab/Pittie
mix who is looking for an energetic
family to call my own! I am very
smart and I want to please humans.
I am young so I need exercise
daily. Some of my favorite activities
include playing fetch, playing with
younger dogs, taking walks/jogs
and being with my foster mom. In
addition, I am crate-trained and I
know basic commands. I like kitties
but if they run I want to chase after
them, but I listen to my foster mom
and stop when she tells me to do so. I would be happy in
a home with older children and a younger canine companion. Visit www.rescueconnectnc.com to fill out an
application to adopt me! If you have any questions,
please contact my foster mom at 910-352-5150.
My name is Boxer
and I’m a 5-year-old,
80 pound Black
Lab. I am true to my
breed. I love to
have things in my
mouth and carry
them around. I love
toys. I am super
easy and pretty
quiet. I like to lay
around a lot. I would
do best in a home
without other pets
and probably older
kids because I am a
big boy. I am really
eager to please and
super sweet. I love to give you my paw and work for
you. To adopt me, please call 910-392-0557 or visit
www.adoptanangel.net.

My name is Leila and I am the most beautiful cat you will
ever see in your life. It’s hard to believe that I sat overlooked at an overcrowded animal shelter! Even now that
I’m with Adopt-An-ANGEL, I still haven’t been able to find
my forever family yet. I have drop dead gorgeous, long,
luxurious Calico fur. I don’t even have the Calico attitude. I am so sweet, gentle and laid-back. I seem to do
well with other animals, too. Please come meet me at
Petco every weekend or contact Adopt-An-ANGEL at
910-392-0557.
Hey, I'm Eli! I'm
a 6-month-old,
black bobtail
male kitten.
(Yes, that’s right,
I have a cute
little nubbin for a
tail!) Everyone
who knows me
says they can’t
believe I haven’t
found my forever
home yet! I am
sweet and get
along with everyone. I enjoy
playing with toys
and snuggling on the couch when I'm sleepy. Overall, I'm
an easy-going, fun-loving cat who just wants a place that I
can call home. I've been neutered, I’m litterbox-trained and
I’m up-to-date on all my shots. Please consider adopting
me so we can have many years of fun times together.
Come visit me at the Petsmart adoption center on New
Centre Drive in Wilmington. You can also call Cat Adoption

TARHEEL WEIMARANER RESCUE
GREYHOUND FRIENDS OF NORTH CAROLINA
My name is Sammy. I'm an energetic and playful 3-year-old Weimaraner who is so happy to be in
rescue. I am going to start heartworm treatment soon and I am
hoping someone will be interested
in fostering me while I have to do
that. Two of my foster brothers
have it too and we do best recovering in a quiet home. Dog Club of
Wilmington says I can go there for
daycare or boarding if needed.
When the treatment is done, I'll be
ready for adoption! I can't wait to meet a forever family one to call my very own. Will you please think about taking
me or my buddies home? If you're interested, please go to
www.tarheelweimrescue.org and fill out an application. Call
910-232-5910 to find out more about me.
My name is Ruby and I am a gem of
a girl. I am 7-years-old and have
had a litter of full blooded Greyhounds. This just makes me all the
more special because I do well with
cats and small animals and have all
the patience in the world. I have a
lot of snuggles, hugs, licks, and love
to give and will make a wonderful
companion to just about anyone who
is willing to share their heart and
home with me. Just call Barbara at
910-540-9644 for more information about me. Please visit us
online at www.greyhoundfriends.com to check out some of
my other friends who are looking for loving forever homes.
RUSSELL RESCUE INC. - CAROLINAS
My name is Molly and I’m
9-years-old. I’m back with
CBHR because my Dad got a
new job and had to move and
couldn’t take me with him. My
foster parents say I am a sweet
girl (and they are right!). I love
playing with my foster brothers
and sister (yes, even the
8-week-old puppy). I love to
cuddle with my foster parents
and their fur babies. (They don’t even notice when I sneak
up on their laps and lay down for a nap). I love to sleep with
my foster family on the couch or in bed (I’m not really picky).
I can use a doggie door and love running around the yard.
To make me a member of your family, please call
888-909-2387 or visit our website at www.cbhr.com.
Hi, my name is Rex and I am
around 4 to 5-years young. I
sit politely and wait for affection from humans. I really
enjoy spending time in the
house with my foster parents
and their other dog and I just
learned how to use the dog
door. Kids scare me so I
can't live in a house with
children under 12. I like to
chew on my dog bone and
play with soft toys. Treats
are a great way for me to learn and I really respond to them
and am eager to work. If you touch my leash, I am ready for
adventure! I can't see out of my left eye because it was hurt
a long time ago but it doesn’t bother me so it shouldn’t bother
you. Do you have space for my dog bed in your house? Visit
www.russellrescue.com, leave a message at 910-821-3504
or email mcbburton@alumni.unc.edu to adopt me.

GREAT DANE RESCUE ALLIANCE
CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE
Hi, I’m Angel! I’m a
Schnauzer girl, about 14
pounds and between 5 and
7-years-old. I’m black and
silver with natural ears and a
docked tail. I was found
wandering alone before
Christmas. My finder made
every effort to locate my
family, but no one ever
stepped forward. I guess
this is your lucky day, because I’m certainly an angel and I need you! Could your
home and heart soon be mine? To fill out an adoption application, visit www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org.
Call 919-723-7145 if you need an application mailed or
faxed. P.S. Mention this PawPrints ad and get a $50
discount on my adoption donation!
My name is Thor and I'm a
handsome 160 pound mantle Dane. I'm only a year
and a half so I’m still a pup!
I was with a family who was
unable to take care of me so
another nice family stepped
up to foster me. I'm already
neutered and also had my
stomach tacked. I get along
with other dogs, cats, and
kids and I have been fine
with horses, too. I'm housetrained and kennel-trained.
I'm a typical Dane and think
I'm a lap dog! To adopt me,
call 704-559-4121 or send
an email to greatdanerescuealliance@gmail.com.
