This has been a busy spring, and will be a busy summer for me – I am on the “Old Home Week 2010” Committee, and there are a lot of things being planned for the week of July 24 – 30, 2010. If you have anything documenting or highlighting the Summer of 2010, I would appreciate hearing from you. We are planning a “HUGE” Parade to kick things off on July 24th, so look for the information as to how you can participate. games. The Town Historical Society, and the Town Historian will have Displays and Information. The Town Historical Society will have an Open House at the Pomeroy School, on Lower Mountain and Leete Roads, on Monday, July 26th, as a part of “Old Home Week”, so stop in and visit our 1873 OneRoom School. The Historical Society is experiencing a rejuvenation – so drop in, and you might like to join our group. After several years of searching, I was finally able to locate the “Rapids Owl”. It is being refurbished, and will soon be placed on grounds of the Rapids Volunteer Fire Co., which is appropriate as this is their 75th year of service to the Town. I still have a few copies of the “Niagara Historic Trails” Guide. It is a good source of information about older homes and places in the Town of Lockport, and also the rest of the County, and you may learn something about a property you have passed by and wondered about. You may also have something to add, which would be appreciated. The Guide is a Real Bargain for $15!! Larry Haseley, Town Historian 434-1547 The “Town Community Day” will be held on Sunday, July 25th, from 1 – 4 PM, on the Town Hall grounds, with entertainment, food, and Town Recreation Department Summer swim lessons starting July 12 - August 28, 2010. !
