Mosin Nagant Scope Mount with bolt handle Fits:7.62x54R Mosin Nagant Rifles, both round and octagonal receivers INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS PART# MOI0600 Thank you for purchasing one of Advanced Technology Inc.'s Scope Mounts! Please fill out the enclosed Unconditional Lifetime Warranty card and mail it within 30 days of purchase. STEP #4 Clamp bolt in padded vise with bolt handle upward. Mark bolt handle base shank (marker or paint). Measure upward 3/16" on knob shank from base of bolt and scribe line on shank. See Sketch A and B. Fits all 7.62x54R Mosin Nagant Rifles, both round and octagonal receivers. Package contains: (1) Machined Stainless Bolt Handle (1) Adapter Bushing (Black Oxide Finish) (1) 82 Degree Counter Sunk Socket Head 10/32" x 1/2" (1) #11 (.191/larger) Drill Bit (High Speed Steel) (1) #21 (.159/smaller) Drill Bit (High Speed Steel) STEP #5 (1) Hardened Aluminum Black Anodized Scope Mount (1) 10-32 Tap (2) Machine Screws (1) Instruction Sheet Note: Satisfactory results can be achieved by careful installation or by a qualified gunsmith. BOLT HANDLE Bolt Fully Assembled For Reference. STEP #1 Open bolt to be sure weapon is unloaded. Re-check 3/16" measurement, leaving room for finish filing (if necessary) later. Cut off bolt handle. STEP #6 For "non-stepped" (Sketch A) press the 1/2" spacer inside the new Advanced Technology, Inc. bolt handle (supplied). "Stepped" (Sketch B) bolt handles DO NOT require spacer. Place the Advanced Technology, Inc. bolt handle over the cut off "nub" on the original bolt. Clamp in padded vise with the back face of the Advanced Technology, Inc. bolt handle FLUSH against front face of original bolt. (Normal bolt position.) Remove bolt by lifting bolt, squeezing trigger and pulling bolt out to rear. STEP #7 Using larger #11 drill, carefully "spot drill" area for mount screw - just deep STEP #3 enough to create a centered starting point for the tap drill - Step #8. Cutting oil Disassemble bolt. Grasp bolt handle, pull rearward and turn cocking piece 1/4 turn is recommended. to left, making sure bolt guide bar remains intact. This removes spring tension on STEP #8 bolt. Bolt head and guide bar slide forward as an assembly, exposing firing pin. Using the supplied #21 (smaller) drill bit, drill through the center of the bolt Note position marks at forging. NOTE: BE SURE THE Advanced Technology, Inc. BOLT HANDLE rear of cocking piece, this IS STILL IN THE ORIGINAL POSITION. aligns firing pin depth STEP #9 correctly and must be returned to exact position Still clamped, use 10-32 tap, and tap hole through bolt. Deburr and thoroughly for safe operation. Firing clean bolt and handle. pin (under spring tension) may now be unscrewed using STEP #10 fork-shaped end of guide bar Place Advanced Technology, Inc. bolt handle in place on the forging. Install slide. and tighten supplied 10/32 countersunk machine screw. Use of thread lock is recommended. Finished bolt handle should fit flush with forging when completed. STEP #2 STEP #11 Reassemble and reinstall bolt in action. STEP #2 Remove barreled action from stock. Remove bolt assembly from action by lifting bolt, squeezing trigger and pulling bolt out to rear. CAUTION: BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH STEP #3, CHAMBER CLEARANCE MUST BE CHECKED! DRILLING INTO CHAMBER AREA (INCORRECT MOUNT POSITIONING) MAY RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH! STEP #3 Drill press is recommended for this step. Place the scope mount (holes forward) on receiver flush with receiver ring front face. Square mount on receiver using the flat on the bottom of the receiver-magazine well area. Clamp securely in position. Double check positioning for squareness. Use supplied larger #11 drill and spot drill rear screw hole. (Spot drill will "mark" center of hole for next step.) With mount still clamped, use supplied smaller #21 drill bit (and cutting oil) to drill through. (Drill slowly so as not to burr inside of receiver below hole.) With mount still clamped, use supplied 10-32 tap (and oil), to tap through receiver. Without unclamping, clean area and securely screw in the supplied 10-32 x 1/2" screw. Repeat this process for the forward hole. Remove scope mount and clean mount and action. Remove burrs from tapped holes. STEP #5 Set scope mount in place, install and tighten screws. (Thread lock is recommended.) Check screws to be sure they do not protrude below the inner surface of receiver. NOTE: MOUNT MUST BE USED WITH SUPPLIED REPLACEMENT BOLT HANDLE OR BOLT WILL NOT OPERATE. Other Advanced Technology, Inc.
