Martínez Yaredly Hernández Oscar Guerrero Henry Juarbe Oscar Guerrero became a darling all over Latin America in 2007 after interpreting Pablo Manuel in the Chilean-Puerto Rican production of the soap opera Don Amor. That same year he filmed the movie Around June, directed by James Savoca where he was June’s lover. But perhaps his big opportunity to start his movie career in the United States came with I Witness (2002) where he worked with Jeff Daniels, James Spader and Portia de Rossi, after being casted because of his work as an actor and dancer in Puerto Rican television and in the theater. He started working in television with the production Locos de amor (Crazy in love) 2001 under the production team of Jorge Luis Ramos and Vicente Castro, with whom he also worked in several other movies done for local television like: La fiebre (The fever), Nacimiento (Nativity) and El Tesoro del Yunque (El Yunque’s Treasure). In 2006 he did Vanished, for a television station in the United States. Guerrero is passionate about dancing and his passion took him to act and dance in several musicals in Puerto Rico, including Grease, directed by Joseph Aguayo and the S.S. Titanic, under Gilberto Valenzuela, among several others. In the new movie, Miente, Oscar Guerrero is Henry: a shy young man whose life changes completely after meeting Paula and Diff, the other main characters of this psychological thriller produced by Isla Films and directed by Rafi Mercado. Mariana Santángelo Paula Mariana Santangelo started acting in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she was born. She later became a star all over the world because of her role of Elisa, a single mother who started working as a prostitute in order to survive as the leading actress of the movie En la puta vida (Tricky Life),directed by Beatriz Flores Silva and which became the first Uruguayan movie to be nominated to an Oscar as Best Foreign Film. With Tricky Life, Santangelo’s life changed completely due to the sudden success of the movie that took her to travel all over the world. She won several Best Actress Awards including various festivals in Spain like Mérida and Madrid, as well as the Viña del Mar Festival in Chile. In 2002, Santangelo moved to Spain where she did several shows for television and filmed her next movie, El alquimista impaciente (The Impatient Alquimist), directed by Patricia Ferrerira. By 2003, Mariana Santangelo was living in Los Angeles, California where she currently resides with her husband and her son, Lorenzo. After taking a break to become a mother, Santangelo came back to acting but this time in English with a character in the ABC series What About Bryan, where she worked with Roxanna Arquette. With Paula, her role in the new movie Miente, Santangelo makes her comeback as a movie actress with a role that changes Henry’s life completely because of her beauty and sensuality. Certainly a role that will forever change Santangelo’s life as well. Frank Perozo Diff Frank Perozo is the hippest actor in the Dominican Republic right now. His most recent films include: La fiesta del chivo (The Feast of the Goat) in 2006 based on acclaimed writer Mario Vargas Llosa’s novel. Also, with Andy García, Perozo filmed La Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City). Also, he acted in other movies in the Dominican Republic like the comedy Yuniol with Charityn Goyco and her son, Shalim Ortiz, La Maldición del Padre Cardona, for which he won several Best Actor’s Awards in his country and Espejismo with actress Zoe Saldana. Among his credentials, Perozo studied with several great actors in New York and Los Angeles, including the Actor’s Studio with Al Pacino and Harvey Keitel, among others. Also, he studied and worked under the tutelage of Dean Zayas and Miriam Colón as part of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. The year 2006 was an excellent year abroad for Frank Perozo. He had several movies that opened during that time, including: Viajeros (Travelers), Código 666 (Code 666), Negocios son negocios (Business is business), Un macho de mujer and Cuban Blood, where Perozo acted with Gael García Bernal. For 2008, Perozo will also appeared in another movie to be filmed in the Dominican Republic with actress María Conchita Alonso called Trópico Sangre, that is scheduled to be released early in 2009. Miente gives Frank Perozo the opportunity to become Diff, the main character’s alter ego, who becomes obsessed by this mysterious character performed by Perozo. Rafi Mercado Director / Production Design He is a director, producer, designer, and creative director who became famous for his irreverent work for the Latino Grammy Awards. He has also worked in videos for Jennifer López and Ricky Martin, among other artists. He founded House of Mercado Entertainment in New York, before coming back to Puerto Rico in order to work as production designer for Isla Films’ comedy Manuela y Manuel in 2007. In 2008 he directed Isla Films’ most recent feature: the psychological thriller Miente, in which he also worked as production designer with Mailara Santana. Frances Lausell Producer She has produced over two dozens of titles for her company Isla Films, and for others like Darlow Smithons (UK), including several feature films. Lausell also directs Cinema Puerto Rico, a strategy funded by Puerto Rico’s Film Commission to showcase Puerto Rican films at international markets. She is the founder of the Puerto Rican NALIP chapter. In 2007 she produced the comedy Manuela y Manuel for her company Isla Films, and she is doing the same in 2008 for the psychological thriller Miente. Sonia Fritz Producer An experienced director, scriptwriter, and producer, Fritz has directed the feature titles El beso que me diste, Una historia común, and over 20 documentaries that are being distributed by The Cinema Guild. Many of the documentaries by Fritz have received numerous awards and have been broadcasted in the United States through Public Television. She is also a professor for the Communications Department at the Sacred Heart University in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 2007, Sonia Fritz was the executive producer of Isla Films’ Manuela y Manuel. In 2008 she is also producing Isla Films’ latest venture, the psychological thriller Miente. Raúl Marchand Editor Marchand is a writer, editor, and director who has directed the feature films Angeles perdidos, Cuerpo del delito, Bala perdida (3rd Place Audience Choice Awards at the 20th Chicago Latino Film Festival). Also, he directed Atraco a las tres y media and 12 horas – which received a Special Mention at the 1st Tribeca Film Festival for Best Emerging Filmmaker. In 2007, he directed the comedy Manuela y Manuel, produced by Isla Films. He also co-edited with David Tedeschi the film El Cantante, directed by León Ichaso. In 2008, he edited Isla Films’ latest feature, the psychological thriller Miente, to be released in 2009.
