The city's history revolves around the Western European immigrants whose descendants have preserved their influences since the 19th century by way of architecture, art, and style. Buenos Aires lies in the “Pampas” (fertile plains), close to the coast, and is located on the edge of the great Río de La Plata. The Pampas are famous for the “gauchos,” or cowboys, who tend the land and raise cattle and horses there. Most of Argentina's most notable museums and cultural attractions can be found in Buenos Aires. In the last ten years the city has declared dozens of sights as historical attractions and turned many places into museums. Students will be visiting museums and art galleries, several cultural activities will be planned related to what they will be studying in both classes; for example, visits to houses of famous authors, to restaurants where artists and writers used to meet, etc. Moreover, Buenos Aires hosts every year in May the International Book Fair, which will be an excellent visit for our students. Furthermore, May 25th, 2010 will be Argentina’s bicentennial anniversary and many special activities and shows, free to the public, are being planned all over the city. University of Florida students needing financial aid should apply through UF Student Financial Affairs (SFA). Non-UF students needing financial aid must apply to their home institutions. Universidad de Belgrano The University of Belgrano (UB) is a private institution that was founded in 1964.
