SECOND COLLECTION NOTICE
The second collection on November 8-9 will be in support of
the Archdiocese of Atlanta Seminarians. We are blessed in this
archdiocese with over 40 men who are responding to a call for
priestly service to the people of God. Though this generous
gift of God is a blessing for this Archdiocese, it does pose a
challenge to us. These men need both our financial support
and our prayers. Please give generously to the Archdiocesan
Seminarians’ Collection next weekend.
STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT - ALL SOULS DAY
“Those who trust in him will understand truth, and the faithful will
abide with him in love, because grace and mercy are upon his elect,
and he watches over his holy ones.” - Wisdom of Solomon 3:9
Here’s the ironic thing about people who are generous. Those that
give freely and cheerfully do not do it to be rewarded. They do it to
show their love for God and their neighbors. Yet, because of their
generosity, they typically are given more than they gave away!
STEWARDSHIP VISION AT STM
Inspired by the uniqueness of our faith community and our
response to God’s call, the stewardship committee strives to fulfill
the Christian mission by sharing our time, talent and treasure. Our
vision is to involve and encourage all members of the parish to
volunteer and support our varied ministries and be true disciples of
Jesus Christ. For more information about stewardship call Ann
Dugan at 404-378-4588 x127.
THE 2014 ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL
“YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR
NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF”
PLEDGED :
$226,872.00
UNPAID
$ 80,309.00
NUMBER OF PLEDGES: 700
A special Thank You to the 700 families and individuals who have
sent in their pledges for the Annual Appeal. The Annual Appeal of
the Archdiocese of Atlanta is a very effective way to support
ministry outside of our parish boundaries as well as to support
the services that the Archdiocese provides to our parish. Any
money received above and beyond our goal is returned to the
parish.

non-Catholic high school or are home-schooled and want to be Confirmed in 2015. Lifeteen is open to ALL high school
teens, however, and we encourage everyone’s involvement. Registration fee is $25.

addition to Lifeteen if your teen attends non-Catholic high school or is home-schooled. If you are in a Catholic high
school, this is the only requirement for Confirmation. Registration forms can be found on the home page of the
parish website (www.stmgaparish.org) under Youth Groups.

ADULT SCRIPTURE STUDY
At every celebration of Mass, God is present
in the proclamation of the Word in Sacred
Scripture: The Bible. Our beliefs as Catholics,
are founded on Sacred Scripture along with
Apostolic Tradition. A correct understanding of
God’s revelation requires openness to his
Word and study. We are fortunate that Jerry
Pendrick, Georgia State Professor of Classical
Languages leads Adult Bible Study
on Sunday morning from
10:40 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in parish
library. The sessions are
extremely informative and much
fun. Please join us. For more info,
please contact Jerry Pendrick at
jpendrick1@yahoo.com..
BOY CHOIR TO HOLD AUDITIONS
Young boys who like to sing and have a pleasant unchanged
voice are invited to try out for the world famous Atlanta Boy
Choir. This wonderful group travel all over the world performing
beautiful music and will appear here in concert at St. Thomas
More on the evening of December 14th at 7:30 pm. The tryouts
are very simple and no previous musical training is required.
If you wish your son to become a part of this outstanding group
of young boys, call 404.378.0064 today and reserve a spot for
him at the audition which will be held at St Thomas More
Saturday, November 15th from 10 am until 12 pm. This is a
rare opportunity for a boy to develop in a top quality educational,
diverse, and spiritually oriented organization. The choir travels to
Hawaii this June to honor the brave soldiers who perished
during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

RITE OF WELCOMING AND ACCEPTANCE: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9
On Sunday, November 9, at the 9:30 Mass, the St. Thomas More community will welcome its newest catechumens
(not yet baptized) and candidates (baptized Christian or Catholic). These men and women have discerned God’s
call to move from the Inquiry stage into a new way of life in Christ. During this rite, “the doors are opened wide” for
them to enter the Church. We welcome the candidates and catechumens into our midst, and as a community help
them follow in the footsteps of Christ. During this Rite they are marked with the cross, the sign of Christ’s love for
us. They also receive a cross to wear as a sign that they want to follow Jesus. The final part of the Rite of
Acceptance is the dismissal from the assembly. Our catechumens and candidates will be dismissed to further
discuss the Word of God on a weekly basis until Easter. Dismissal helps them grow in love and knowledge of God
through Scripture; since they cannot yet join us at the Eucharistic table, they are fed by God’s word. The Eucharist
is a celebration of the real presence of Jesus Christ, which we Catholics share fully with one another. Following the
sacraments of baptism and confirmation, our new friends will fully join us in our Eucharistic celebration at the
Easter vigil.
