The school increased its available Internet bandwidth this week. Why? You may
ask. Bandwidth determines the flow of traffic in and out of the school via the Internet. I like to think of bandwidth as the diameter of a water pipe: the larger the pipe the more water
can flow through it at any given time. The greater the bandwidth the more information can flow. As
the teachers continue to integrate technology they will put greater demands on our single Internet
connection. We seem to have maximized our present capacity as indicated by slow loading of instructional videos. Cox Cable, our provider, offers speeds from 6Mbs (Megabytes per second) to 50Mbs.
Our increase puts us at 15Mbs. We may need to make further adjustments once all equipment is in
place and operational.

“TGH Bound For Broadway” 2012
Summer Musical Theater Camp at CLA
Directed by Tina Gallant-Helms
www.tghboundforbroadway.com
Each session lasts 5 days and is from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the
Creative Learning Academy gym.
The week will end with a smashing Broadway style performance on
the Creative Learning Academy stage at 6:30 pm. All performers
need to be at CLA by 5:30 pm on Friday night.
Music theater camp is for students going into 2nd grade through 8th grade
Students will be divided into elementary and middle school groups during the day.
During camp, we will learn (and then perform) scenes from all your favorite Broadway shows. We
will study and practice concepts and techniques in drama, dance, public speaking as well as proper
singing technique. Students should dress comfortably and bring a bag lunch each day. Juice and water will be provided throughout the day. The camp cost covers everything needed to put on a show!
This includes multiple costumes, make-up, practice CD’s and sheet music, water & juice all day,
school facility use fee, props, and any other element needed. Please make checks payable to Tina
Helms and put the camp session/sessions you will be attending on the memo line.
There is limited space available to ensure that each “camper” has their own special parts and
plenty of “stage time”. Spaces will be filled on a first come-first serve basis.
Each camp session will feature different scenes so students may register for both A & B camp sessions. Bring a friend and sign up for both!!!
Camp is open to CLA and non-CLA students
Camp cost is $210.00 per session.
We will do scenes from all of your favorite shows including: Wicked, 42nd
Street, FAME, Grease, Hair Spray,South Pacific, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Phantom
of the Opera, Annie, Les Misérables, Cats, Fiddler on the Roof, Jersey Boys, The Sound of
Music, Mama Mia, Tangled, The Addams Family, Mulan, The Little Mermaid, and many
Please return this registration form
to Mrs. Helms with your payment as soon
as possible to reserve your place.
If the camp session is full your check will
be returned to you immediately.
Please make checks payable to Tina Helms
The registration fee is $50.00 per session. This will reserve your place at
camp. The remaining amount will need to be turned in by May 31, 2012.
You will receive a confirmation via e-mail.

Creative Learning Academy’s Preschool Program is thriving in the capable hands of veteran teachers Cindy Adams and Candy Janson.
Established in 1972, CLA’s Preschool Program is well known for its highly effective blending of Montessori
methods with age-appropriate best instructional practices. Class sizes are limited to 16 and a recent parent survey suggests one of the top reasons parents choose CLA Preschool over other programs is its variety of academically engaging enrichment classes.
“You have the freedom to do a lot of interesting things at CLA,” Adams said. “I love the people I work with
and the families are great. They’re very down to earth and they’re willing to help a lot at the school.”
A native of Vermont who has lived in Pensacola for the past 16 years, Adams studied at Pensacola Junior
College and earned her Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate. She is a veteran of 15 years in the
teaching profession and has been on the faculty at CLA for ten years.
I believe in treating the students just like my own,” Adams said. “I believe in treating everybody fairly.”
One CLA parent was particularly impressed, penning this ringing endorsement of Adams’ ability as a preschool teacher:
“She has a gift of ensuring that the children behave and act respectfully, while still creating an atmosphere
of fun and excitement. We love her quiet authority and emphasis on character development. Mrs. Adams
has relieved all of our concerns and made us feel very welcome. She is also very approachable and responsive whenever we have questions. We really couldn't have designed a better teacher ourselves!"
Raised in Pensacola, Janson has been a teacher for 26 years, including the last 23 at CLA. She holds an AA
Degree from Pensacola Junior College and a BS in Home Economics Education from Florida State University. She also earned a Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate.
“We have a Montessori-based pre-school and it’s just exciting to see the children absorb and learn all they
need to in order to move on and excel in kindergarten,” Janson said. “The students are exposed to a lot of
different things here and our families are very supportive.” Janson spoke glowingly of her faculty peers,
and her philosophy as a teacher echoes that of so many teachers at CLA. “I believe in creating an environment in which the children are comfortable and they are excited about learning,” she said.
CLA has a variety of enrollment schedules available to suit the needs of families. Students may attend full
or half days on Monday, Wednesday and Friday or five days per week.
For more information on enrollment, contact CLA Admissions Director Robin Bates at 432-1768.
