This higher education school pleased me with friendly and modern environment, informative and eyecatching stands, attentive staff. I was really fascinated by lecturers. They helped me to overcome my lack of self-confidence, fear of communicating, asking questions. In College all the lecturers and students are like one family full of mutual respect. Studies were combined with frequently organized conferences, meetings with lecturers from foreign countries. Such events encouraged my curiosity and interest in various subjects of my chosen profession and other fields of interest. The impressions from my practice in Baltic Aviation Academy are still fresh and inspiring. By having the possibility of everyday e-mail and phone communication with foreign partners, I employed my language skills and knowledge acquired in College. One of my favourite subject was language skills development. I could not realize before that someday I will be able to express my ideas in English language in various different topics. It was a pleasure to attend these lectures and I used to eagerly wait for them. Talented lecturers always came up with excellent methods to encourage us to take interest in peculiarities of language while at the same time considering everyone’s interests and achievements. I am very grateful that during my study years I had an opportunity to familiarize with marketing discipline, which is necessary in various everyday situations. I think it taught me one of the most important things, which is to properly present yourself in the job market, pay attention to important details and be more openminded. Today I am really happy being able to develop my small business of helping others to learn language. By doing this I develop my own skills as well. I hope that I could continue working the job I like. If the situation would change, I am sure that I will be able to find work in the majority of Lithuanian companies. I think that my love to one language might lead to learning another one or starting another studies. I am not afraid of challenges because I am confident in my success. Several words describing my experience in College would be Karina Grigorian 3rd year student of Applied English Language study programme » motivation » energy » pleasure » skills www.kolegija.lt / 15 Dzmitry Sabaleuski, Student of Hospitality and Event Management, Belarus 16 / www.kolegija.lt Vilnius Business College Strategic Plan 2014 – 2020 Aim 2 to expand Internationalisation The academic community has got greater than ever mobility opportunities, after Lithuania became an integral part of the global science and education sector. I still feel the satisfaction and joy experienced during my study years. I still want to meet my course mates, to visit that small, but wonderful space, where I acquired relevant life experience, business knowledge. Wonderful lecturers, their ability to skilfully present information, provide us with relevant skills, real-life examples, which are sometimes funny, but always inspiring and informative will remain in my memory for long. Study years were the most memorable for me too. Here I not only met people who became my friends and maybe even future business partners, but also formed the basis for a successful career in a company or even establishing my own business. Participation in College projects, presentation of study programs in various exhibitions and meetings, organization of student events helped me to develop my communication, cooperation and teamwork skills, which are becoming increasingly essential and necessary to me at the moment. After finishing College, I did not want to stop learning, so in the same year I began my MSc degree in International Business and Marketing in the University of Southern Denmark (Syddansk Universitet). When entering the university I did not have to attend TOEFL and IELTS exams, because my College English course grades were accepted. I am very grateful to College for provided knowledge base which allowed me to keep pace with the studies in foreign country. First of all, I got an opportunity to raise my qualifications and develop skills. Due to the flexible work schedule I managed to finish my Bachelor and Master studies and started working as an administrator and later as a study coordinator. At the moment I work as a personnel and quality specialist. For me it is more than just a work position. It is the story of my personal and professional development. My work in College is full of challenges. I acquired skills that seemed almost impossible for me before such as smooth and easy communication with colleagues and partners, self – confidence, team work, quick adaptation to new environments, great organisational skills. I am really happy that I still have plans and personal objectives here in College. At the moment I supervise College quality management system. However, I want to develop further in the field and become a professional internal auditor. I appreciate the environment where I work, because it is unique. Chosen study subjects and lectures exceeded my expectations. I am really satisfied with the insightful advices received from lecturers and the fact that I am studying internet technologies. I am really confident in my knowledge of chosen study subject. The knowledge acquired during the two-year experience in the College gives me more confidence in job interviews. Then I became a member of the Student Association, where I can satisfy my need to implement various initiatives and develop organisational and management skills. The participation in the activities of Student Association is useful not only for me but for others as well. In the end of the second year I started to think about job as the possibility to test my knowledge in practice.
