GOOD BRAKING. BETTER DRIVING.
INTARDER!
Good braking means better driving. Better driving means driving more economically, safely, and more
environmentally friendly. The ZF-Intarder hydrodynamic hydraulic brake allows for wear-free braking
without fading, relieves the service brakes by up to 90 percent, and in doing so, reduces maintenance costs.
Taking into account the vehicle’s entire service life, the Intarder offers a considerable savings potential
ensuring quick amortization. In addition, the environment benefits from the reduced brake dust and noise
emissions. Choose the ZF-Intarder for better performance on the road. www.zf.com/intarder

with a network of professional dealers, DAF can significantly help you
in this area. With an ultra-modern and extensive product range. And
with an equally extensive range of services behind the product:
MultiSupport repair and maintenance contracts, and financial
services from PACCAR Financial. And not forgetting, of course, the
rapid parts service of PACCAR Parts with its ultra-modern
distribution centres throughout Europe and beyond. And all under
one roof — that of the DAF dealer. “One-stop shopping” means you
only have one point of contact for everything relating to your fleet.
And that’s only half the story. Efficiency starts with the specification
of the right vehicle, which perfectly matches the customer’s
requirements. DAF dealers not only have the knowledge and
experience to provide you with the best advice, but also have
advanced computer systems to help them do so. And last but not
least, an extremely comprehensive and efficient product range.
Tractors and rigids. Two, three and four-axle vehicles, either single
or double-driven, with day or sleeper cabin, LF, CF, XF. Three
vehicle concepts, one philosophy: quality from front to rear.
Long-lasting and reliable, for maximum usability.
Because whether you specialise in distribution transport, municipal
tasks, the building sector, agricultural transport or international road
transport, there is always a custom-made DAF. Built for optimum
driver comfort and, above all, low costs per kilometre and a high
return. There is always a DAF to suit your transport needs.

Leyland Trucks produces 5,000th
factory bodied DAF
At Leyland Trucks in the UK, the 5,000th DAF LF distribution truck with in-house
manufactured and mounted PACCAR body came off the production line. The
vehicle was handed to Royal Mail, the UK’s postal service that already has more
than 700 PACCAR bodied DAF vehicles in its fleet.
Leyland Trucks is the one and only truck manufacturer that assembles and installs bodies
on its truck production lines. It offers significant reductions in delivery lead times,
supporting maximum efficiency and vehicle availability.
In the UK market, DAF supplies a full range of LF distribution trucks with a PACCAR body.
The range of body works also includes the advanced aerodynamic Aerobody which is

with the new XF
Roby Vissenberg, director of the Belgian company
Nirotrans, is in seventh heaven with his first two DAF XF Euro 6
tractor units. One of them now has 100,000 kilometres on
the clock already. “As a specialist in transporting parts for
aviation industry, we spend a lot of time on the road”, he
explains. “That means that we got a lot of experience very
quickly with the new generation of Euro 6 vehicles”.
Nirotrans has now purchased another three new XF Euro 6
trucks. “We have grown significantly in recent months”,
says Vissenberg. “In total, we have purchased 20 new
Euro 6 trucks, including those from other manufacturers.
The DAF XF Euro 6 has clearly shown that it is the most
economical of them all”.

2,000th DAF CF assembled
in Taiwan
The 2,000th locally assembled DAF CF85 truck recently rolled
off the production line at FASC – the Formosa Automobile Sales
Corporation – in Taiwan. DAF has been active in Taiwan since
2006 and is the market leader amongst the European brands.
FASC is responsible for the marketing and sales of DAF trucks in
Taiwan, as well as local assembly. In addition to the CF, FASC has
also been assembling two versions of the popular LF distribution
truck since 2013.

Hoyer Turkey drives DAF
Hoyer Logistics is a company operating around the world that
specialises in container transport of chemicals, liquids, liquid food
products and oil. The Turkish branch recently put ten brand new
DAF CF85.460s into operation. DAF was chosen partly because of
previous good experiences. The low fuel consumption also played
a major role, as did the relatively low weight of the CF itself. This is
important because every kilogram counts when transporting
liquids.

“Cool” DAF
Ice hockey fans in the Frankfurt area will be happy with this; RICHTER.transporte from nearby
Langenselbold is sending its first XF Euro 6 out on the road with a body bearing spectacular
advertising for the Frankfurt Lions, the local ice hockey team. The idea came from director/owner
Hans-Jörg Richter himself, a diehard fan. “A gift from a fan to the club”, says Richter, who has
never missed a home game. And the reaction from fans on Facebook, where the truck has
already received more than 600 “likes”, shows that the combination has been noticed.
RICHTER.transporte has used DAF exclusively since it was established in 2006. “I tried out all the
makes and stuck with DAF. The operating costs, the fuel consumption, it ticks all the boxes”,
says Richter about it. “And my drivers love them”. According to Richter, the first XF Euro 6 from

right solution!
It’s always a great moment when you’re handed the keys to a new truck.
It’s the climax to a detailed process in which the customer, dealer and, often, the bodybuilder jointly come
up with the best possible transport solution for the customer. Starting point for this decision process is the
truck’s purpose – what does the customer expect from the truck and which product specification would be
most suitable? With an extensive range of ultra-modern two, three and four-axle vehicles, DAF has a truck to
suit every application. For distribution transport, construction, local authorities, the agricultural sector and
heavy transport over long distances; because every customer is unique and so is every DAF.

The Truck of the Year Award - organised by Polski Traker
trade magazine - is the Polish premier award for the
transport industry. The jury consisted of readers from the
magazine and they acclaimed the DAF Euro 6 XF because
of its comfort, design and safety and also because of its
fuel efficient 10.8 liter MX-11 and 12.9 liter MX-13
PACCAR engines. The DAF Euro 6 XF received 640 of the
total of about 1.000 votes. It’s the fifth time DAF received
the award: in 1998, the DAF 95XF was voted winner,
followed a year later by the CF85. The DAF XF105 won
the Polish Truck of the Year Award in 2006 and 2007.
“This recognition is so valuable because it is given by the users themselves, being truck
drivers”, said Harrie Schippers, DAF Trucks president. “I’m delighted that they recognised the
Euro 6 XF as their preferred long distance truck of choice.”
Euro Top Concept: “DAF is the perfect basis”
The Belgian Euro Top Concept is the exclusive

cranes of the German Klaas brand. Klaas
products Klaas are mounted on trucks, vans, or
trailers. Euro Top Concept supplies mainly
removal and lift-service companies, scaffolders,
roofing and solar-panel specialists, glass
suppliers and of course, crane rental companies.
MOVE TO DAF
Whereas Euro Top Concept formerly made use
of another truck brand as a basis for its cranes,
since the introduction of Euro 6 the company
has switched to the DAF LF. “ There are several
reasons for this,” says Dominique Christien of
Euro Top Concept. “ First, the dealer is nearby
and offers excellent service. However, the build
friendliness of the LF chassis is equally
important. The new LF Euro 6 is also popular
with customers in the market, thanks to its
appealing looks. And it is also very comfortable.”

Safety and comfort hand in hand
From simple candles to hypermodern LED-lighting: in more than one hundred years of motoring history,
lighting has undergone incredible developments. Even so, some inventions in the field of automotive lighting
are older than you would think. Dipped headlights were invented almost 100 years ago and swivel lights
as early as 1934. And over 50 years ago the asymmetric beam, which throws more light on the curb, was
introduced. In the last 50 years, developments have accelerated, also thanks to DAF.
Truck lighting:

ood lighting has always been an
important focus for DAF. The
legendary 2600 of the sixties was
fitted with four dual lamps. The outer ones
were for dipped light and the inner ones for
main beam. If one of the lamps for dipped
light stopped working (which in those days
was a distinct possibility), the driver could
simply change it for the adjacent lamp. In
this way he always had dipped light. As with
all light bulbs, dual lamps were very
inefficient: not more than five to ten per cent
of the energy used was turned into light.
Halogen DAF introduced H4 halogen
lighting in the last year that the DAF 3200
was produced, in the mid eighties. High
beam and low beam were also combined,
but the advantages were legion: the
lifetime was 10 times longer and the light
output produced was many times higher.
In order to optimalise the light beam, a

England. The family business has been a loyal customer of DAF for
many years. They recently added the first DAF XF FTG Euro 6 to their

been involved in salvage and recovery of vehicles for
more than 35 years now. As a loyal DAF customer,
the company recently added the first CF Euro 6 to its

favour of the purchase were the price/quality ratio,
the body-friendly chassis and the image of the truck.

This DAF XF105.460 FAR is operated by German Willi Betz, one of the
largest transport companies in Europe. This specific vehicle is used
to transport mixed feeds. The light DAF chassis provides a high gross
load capacity, which is essential in bulk transport. This industry often
uses a combination of rigids and trailers; the trailer is temporarily
parked somewhere so that the rigid is better able to access cramped
farmyards. The liftable rear axle ensures a tight turning circle and
makes it highly ‘yard-friendly’.

The British metal recycling company Smith Metals recently
added three LF FA.220 Construction trucks to its fleet for

that the company had already had with DAF. “Ours is a
demanding business and we need trucks that are durable and
reliable”, says site manager Jason Wilson, “which our DAFs
have proved to be. The new LF model also looks good... they are
the calling card for our company”.

development of a unique concept for waste collection: a
container with an integral crane that can be installed as a whole

construction is an 8x2 DAF CF85.460 FAQ. One reason why ARU
chose DAF was the high load capacity. The steerable front and

suitable for confined spaces.
