Fred Mills, Us TOO Board Chairman Kay Lowmaster, Us TOO Vice Chair, Program Committee Chair Dave Houchens, Us TOO Treasurer, Development Committee Chair Dexter Rumsey, Us TOO Board Member *Learning objective: identify opportunities for further involvement Positioning for Success: Background Fred Mills, Us TOO Board Chairman I followed Jim Kiefert as Chairman in 2009 We structured our Board committees a bit differently so the Executive committee members could communicate more effectively by serving as committee chairs We now have 4 major standing committees in addition to the Executive committee; 1) Program, 2) Finance, 3) Development, and 4) Board Membership Kay Lowmaster serves as Vice-Chair of the Board and Chairs the Program committee Dave Houchens serves as Treasurer and chairs the Development and Finance committees Ridge Taylor serves as Secretary and is Board Development Chairman Positioning for Success: Background Session’s Learning objective: Identify opportunities for further involvement Progress has been made; our committees are meeting with increased frequency and picking up momentum…a major goal for us We want to cover some of those activities after you heard about one of the major ones in the last session, “Teaming for Success”. DECLARATION OF TRUST Summary This is our “Call for Action” to “Team for Success” An Incredible Opportunity You are our first line of attack We want you to help us – we need action Summary As leaders, consider making bequests – it’s the commitment that’s important, not the amount Publicity, publicity, and publicity – keep this topic in front of the chapter Positioning for Success: Program Committee Kay Lowmaster History & Responsibility of the Program committee Actually a new committee in 2009 I have been chairing last year and this year We identified Standards as top priority which we will be implementing now which you heard in our last session I will mention a few other things as well Committee Responsibilities next slide Positioning for Success: Program Committee Committee Responsibilities Responsible for policy development and oversight of Us TOO’s programs encompass the areas of research and education, support groups/chapters, the Companions and Families’ Circles of Love program, screening and outreach through events such as awards and anniversary events. (June, 2010) The Program committee will have responsibility for the Research and Education Committee in order to provide guidance, counsel, oversight, measurements and evaluation for all programs and operations of the Corporation. Positioning for Success: Program Committee Membership is 11 current Board members and is staffed by Terri and Tom What makes up Us TOO’s Program area? All areas aside from Fundraising and Management & General expenses Fall into 5 initiative areas and we spent $865,209 or 81.3% of our 2010 $1,064,175 budget on Awareness, Patient Information, Education Programs, Chapter Services and Advocacy Positioning for Success: Program Committee 2010 Program Service Areas: $865,209 Advocacy 4% Awareness 7% Chapter Services 28% Patient Information 20% Education 41% Positioning for Success: Program Committee Awareness: such activities as Pints for Prostates events and exhibiting at conferences Patient Information: Publications such as the new Advanced disease Kit and the familiar monthly HotSheet Education Programs: Such as last year’s 20th Anniversary session, the Us TOO website with Prostate Pointers and the Us TOO Inspire community, and the COL Chapter Services: This Us TOO University sessions and support from the home office Advocacy: Collaborative work on policy issues with the Prostate Cancer Roundtable members and the World Wide Prostate Cancer Coalition Advocacy in terms of Board committee responsibility falls to the Development committee which Dave will mention Positioning for Success: Program Committee Patient Information such as the publications and our familiar monthly Us TOO HotSheet I was so pleased to work with Fred Mills, Fred Gersh, Shirley Grey, Jim Kiefert, Russ Gould, Jerry Hardy, Drs.
