Pinto was one of the thousands of mistreated and homeless animals in Houston. He is
now one of the lucky few who was saved and found a good home. Many thanks to Aurora
Sifuentes and Eva Belendez ​
who cared for and rescued Pinto. Also, thank you to his
family who adopted him and is providing him with a wonderful life, Lisa First and Jesse
Cardena.
Pinto was lucky but many of Houston's animals in the same condition do not survive. That
is why Barrio Dogs works so hard in their East End community to teach residents and
others how to take good care of their pets: to spay and neuter them, give them flea and
heartworm preventatives, not chain them and not let them run loose in the streets. They
also encourage residents to always report animal neglect and abuse to the police. With
more education, resources and awareness, Barrio Dogs hopes to transform their
community into a better place for its residents and its animals. For more information, go

Pinto fue uno de los miles de animales maltratados de Houston. Él es uno de los pocos
afortunados que sobrevivió y encontró un hogar cariñoso. Muchas gracias a Aurora
Sifuentes y Eva Beléndez que cuidaron a Pinto y a Lisa First y Jesse Cardena que lo
adoptaron y le están ofreciendo con una vida maravillosa.
Pinto fue afortunado pero la mayor parte de los animales en sus condiciones en Houston
no sobreviven. Por eso Barrio Dogs trabaja muy duro en su comunidad para enseñar a los
residentes cómo tener mejor cuidado de sus mascotas: esterilizarlos, darles tratamiento
de pulgas y preventivo de gusanos del corazón, no encadenarlos y no dejar que anden
sueltos en las calles. Además, también animan a los residentes a siempre reportar el
abuso y abandono de animales a la policía. Con más educación, recursos y concienciación,
Barrio Dogs espera transformar a su comunidad a un lugar mejor para los residentes y sus
