Hackers/crackers distinction http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack_(programmer_subculture) ● ● No breakins, cracks, copyright violations or anything like that Hacks, as in time constrained projects, prototypes, built by individuals ● Music Hack Day ● ● International series of events 24 hours of music related hacking Software, hardware, mobile, web, instruments, art, analogue, digital... ● ● Anything goes as long as it’s music related Philosophy ● Connect likeminded people Show what can be done in one day with open acess and good tools ● ● Actions speak louder than words ● Have fun History First Music Hack Day took place in London July 2009, organized by Dave Haynes and James Darling ● Since then there have been close to 30 MHD's all around the world ● More than 2000 participants have made 500 "hacks" ● Around 60 companies and organizations have supported Music Hack Day ● New York, San Francisco, Barcelona (Sonar), Berlin, London, Cannes (Midem), Sydney, Stockholm... ● Setup ● Free of charge for participants ● Work in small teams or solo. Sponsors will showcase their products/services/apis, and send hackers.
