Along with cattle, goats, rabbits, sheep, swine, poultry, and dairy cheese, seven miscellaneous items sold this year: The 2016 Miss Whitley County kiss sold for $2,537 to a large group of local supporters. Amber Ferrell, the 2016 Pork Cooper Parish auctions off his feeder calf. Parish’s calf Queen, sold her kiss for $1,775. was the highest individual sale of the auction, selling The Horse and Pony club sold a for $12,450. basket of goodies for $100. The horse head carving which had been displayed outside the show barn during much of fair week sold for $671. The profits from the carving will go towards grounds drainage. An autographed Love & Theft CD sold for $300. The band was the headlining act at this year’s 4-H concert. An autographed Lauren Alaina CD also sold at the auction for $200. Alaina opened for Love & Theft at this year’s concert. The Junior Miss Whitley County kiss sold for $150. The dairy steer category brought in the most money from the auction, totaling to $97,068 from 43 lots. However, it was the sheep category that broke records this year, as Amber Ferrell sold her Grand Champion Market Lamb for $5,555. Her buyers included a large number of community supporters. The highest individual sale of the auction went to Cooper Parish, a 10-year member, who sold his feeder calf for $12,450. Parish’s sale was not declared a record-breaker due to the fact that his calf did not win Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion.
