Dear Friends,
Our charitable connection: Chester County Food Bank, Inc. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8
The Pennsylvania Hunt Cup Committee invites you to partner with us in support of the 82nd running
List of past winners of the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10-11
of the historic 501 (c)3 Pennsylvania Hunt Cup races. On Sunday November 6th, 2016 we will once
again gather in the beautiful countryside west of Unionville. From 1921 until 1953 the PHC took place
outside of Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania. The races were renewed in 1964 on the present Unionville
course, where it is run according to the standards set by the Committee. Since 1964 the Pennsylvania
Hunt Cup Committee has contributed over $986,600 to a variety of community based organizations
including hospitals and land conservancies, local school programs, and at risk children. Your support
will enable us to attain this year’s goal of contributing over $1 million dollars to our community!
Our 2016 beneficiary will again be the Chester County Food Bank, Inc. who’s innovative and
educational programs to reduce both hunger and the causes of poverty inspire our support.
We invite you to partner with us as a sponsor, subscriber, contributor or advertiser. Enjoy a thrilling day
of racing with friends and clients, while supporting our exemplary charity. Our lead sponsor will have
use of “The Ruins,” the premier location on the race course for entertaining and race viewing.
Thanks to you the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup Committee contributed $40,000 to the CCFB in 2015. We
count on you to share our goals and our race day. Jay Meister, Kathee Rengert, and the Committee
would be pleased to discuss sponsorship opportunities with you. Please “like” us on Face book to
follow our journey to the 82nd running of the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup races.
Sincerely,
The Pennsylvania Hunt Cup Committee

Tradition
TRADITION
The Pennsylvania Hunt Cup is a Timber steeplechase race
with a distance of four miles and 22 fences, over fair hunting
country. From its inception it has been intended as a substantial test of both horse and rider, and is one of just three 4-mile
steeplechase races sanctioned by the National Steeplechase
Sponsorship Opportunities
SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Sponsorship of The Pennsylvania Hunt Cup races offers the perfect opportunity to entertain clients,
business associates, colleagues, family and friends while showcasing your business to the race day audience.
Corporate sponsors receive numerous benefits on race day and throughout the year.
Sponsorship opportunities are available at all levels, with exciting benefits to match.
Most importantly, your assistance is helping to improve the quality of life of economically challenged
Chester County citizens through food distribution, gleaning gardens and nutritional education.
Association. First run in 1921 over a course in Whitemarsh ,
PA, the race moved to the present location in Unionville, PA
in 1964, where it has been held annually since. Over the years
the race meeting has grown so that the race day card now
includes three sanctioned timber races, one flat race and the
Pennsylvania Pony Hunt Cup for children.
The self-perpetuating Pennsylvania Hunt Cup Committee administers the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup Races. By
charter, the purpose of the committee is to raise money
for local charities and the organization has achieved exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
Code. Since 1964 over $930,000 has been donated to a
variety of charitable organizations.
As an “open” race, the race conditions make no distinction
between amateur and professional riders or the previous race
records of the horses eligible to be entered. Run over “fair
hunting country” means the course approximates conditions
found during a day of foxhunting in Pennsylvania, albeit
more rigorous than the average hunting experience. It is differentiated from a “park” course that usually involves more
consistency of terrain and obstacle, and often places more
emphasis on speed in the competition.
While speed may be required to win over fair hunting

country, the athleticism and experience of both horse and rider required to navigate changing terrain and fences varying in
size and type are major components in achieving a favorable
outcome. The course consists of 4 miles of rolling countryside and 22 fences of stacked rails, board and post and rail,
with heights ranging from 3ft. 6in. to 4ft. 2in.
The Pennsylvania Hunt Cup Committee is dedicated to
maintaining the integrity of the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup as an
outstanding sporting event, and recognizes that preserving
and protecting the course over which the race is run is a critical part of that obligation. We are indebted to the landowners
whose land is vital to the continuation of both our historic
race meet and our fundraising goals.
