As we come together as a people of faith to celebrate our Catholic traditions and dynamic parish community, we are eager to reflect upon the Scripture verse that inspired us to embrace the opportunity to shepherd our biennial parish dinner auction. Luke 12:48 boasts, “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.” We express much gratitude that you, the members of the living church, have answered the call to give generously in order to make a Knight in Vatican City an exciting reality. We encourage you to join us in thanking all those who have worked tirelessly to support our parish dinner auction. St. Dominic Catholic Parish is blessed with gifted and generous staff members and volunteers who have shared countless hours focusing on our auction efforts to ensure that this “Knight” is truly memorable. Their sparks of enthusiasm are contagious, and we are blessed to work alongside such talented, giving people, who are unafraid to live their faith out loud. A Knight in Vatican City was made possible through the generosity of our sponsors, our advertisers, and through the donations which were selflessly shared by parishioners, staff, students, and the businesses throughout our community. We encourage you to show your appreciation for all those who have collaborated to support the mission of St. Dominic Catholic Parish by bidding high and bidding often, as you enjoy a Knight in Vatican City. Thank you for being intentional with your time, and for sharing your gifts with St. Dominic Catholic Parish. Most certainly, we are blessed! Sincerely, Jessica & Dan Brown Tina & Tim Jessick Dear Friends, Welcome to a great tradition sponsored by the faith community of St. Dominic Catholic Parish. You will experience all the ingredients that have made this event such a memorable, enjoyable and helpful gathering over the years. This year, we once again welcome you to an exciting venue which helps make this night such a special and unique experience. All the necessary preparations required to ensure a great evening have been made. It is now time to catch the spirit. Thank you for gracing our ninth biennial St. Dominic Catholic Parish Auction with your presence. Your enthusiastic support tonight will help provide the financial assistance needed to continue our goal of seeking humble excellence in furthering our mission and ministries. Proceeds will help fund improvements to our youth and young adult ministry programs directed at faith formation and growing and strengthening our parish community. They will assist in our initiatives to provide campus improvements, such as updates to our Parish Arts & Activities Center and school cafeteria and necessary enhancements to campus-wide safety and security. Funds will assist our parish and school marketing efforts. I wish to offer a much deserved expression of gratitude to this year’s auction co-chairs, Tina & Tim Jessick and Jessica & Dan Brown, for their generous spirit in providing the leadership necessary to put on this evening’s program! Thanks also to the many volunteers who have been part of their amazing team. Good and generous people gathered together in a spirit of fellowship, with a willingness to make a difference - these are the ingredients that will help ensure the success of this year’s event, a Knight in Vatican City! Sincerely yours in Christ, Father David H. Reith, Pastor Dear St. Dominic Parishioners and Guests, “To change the world, we must be good to those who cannot repay us.” Pope Francis It is most appropriate to turn to the wisdom of our Holy Father on such an occasion as this, where we gather together as a community to be stewards of our resources for the benefit of those who come after us. Our good works and generosity will benefit those who will never have the opportunity to repay us, or even thank us, for the sacrifices made to keep St. Dominic thriving in our little corner of the archdiocese. You are all a testament to what can be accomplished when we work together for the greater glory of God in a tradition of humble excellence. We stand on the shoulders of those whom came before us, to claim our moment in shaping the St. Dominic of the 21st century; a beacon of hope for those seeking a relationship with Jesus Christ. This night exemplifies what it means to be a faith-filled community. In an event such as this, it should not matter who we are or where we came from, but that we are all a part of something bigger and more glorious than just this moment in time. We reflect upon our humble beginnings 60 years ago in a small missionary church, while looking forward to how we will make our mark in the next century as disciples of Jesus Christ. May the fellowship experienced this evening truly inspire all of us, to keep becoming Christ, each one for the sake of all. Thank you for being a part of this momentous occasion - a Knight in Vatican City. To be surrounded by representations of our faith tradition, while participating in this parish tradition, is a beautiful way of showing appreciation for all that we have been given by God. My heartfelt appreciation to those who have played a role in making this event possible and for the generosity demonstrated in support of the mission of St. Dominic Catholic Parish. God is Good! All the time! St. Dominic, pray for us. Mrs. Jill A. Fischer Buonasera (Good evening), Benvenuto al tuo (Welcome to your) 2016 Parish Auction. We hope that you are enjoying this majestic evening; being transported to the Vatican. May it be an evening filled with the spirit of Vatican City as you stroll through the rooms and partake in cibo delizioso (delicious food). Thank you for taking this time in fellowship with others in the St. Dominic family. We are grateful that you believe in the work of our parish and the support of our programs. Know that your generous support is greatly appreciated by the Lifelong Faith Formation staff and families. We raise our glass to you and say, “Cin cin” (Cheers)! Grazie, Stacey Irvine Director of Children’s Ministry Debbie Olla Director of Youth Ministry Dear Auction Participants, Thank you for making this year’s dinner auction a tremendous success. The following information is to help you in determining the income tax implications of your participation in this event. If you donated any merchandise or the use of personal property, you may be able to claim an income tax deduction for the fair market value of your donation. It is your responsibility to determine the value of such donations. You are also required to obtain written acknowledgment from us for your donation. If you made a cash contribution, you should have received a written acknowledgment from us for your donation. If you have not yet received thank you letters with these acknowledgments, please contact me. For parish members who made such contributions with personal checks, these gifts have been recorded and are listed as “Auction” donations on your annual contribution statement from the parish. If you purchased an item at the auction and paid more than the fair market value of what you received, you may claim an itemized deduction for the excess of the amount you paid over the fair market value of what you received, provided that you paid the extra amount with the intent of making a charitable contribution. Also, please note that the values listed in the auction catalog have been provided by the donors, and may not necessarily be relied upon for income tax purposes. Since the per person ticket charge approximates the value of the food and refreshments provided, you have not made a deductible charitable contribution by purchasing a ticket. You may not deduct as a charitable contribution the amounts you pay to buy raffle tickets or to play other games of chance. Additional information can be obtained from IRS Publication No. 526 (Charitable Contributions) and from IRS Publication No. 561 (Determining the Value of Donated Property). You may also wish to consult with a competent tax practitioner for additional information and assistance. Once again, thank you for your participation and your generosity. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please contact me. Sincerely, Karen M. Chaffee Director of Finance ALL ABOARD! The bus is your ride! No need to drive or park downtown!
