In total, 154 Breast Casts were exposed for 269 days of 2012, at more than 100 different
locations in 5 countries. As a result, an estimated 300, 000 people were made aware of the
campaign, thanks to the exceptional support of Strychnine Gallery, our benefactor Gilles Patat,
the City of Bordeaux, the AGIDECA, Alain Juppé, Mayor of Bordeaux and former Prime
Minister of France, and the incredible press coverage of these events.
Planned 2013 Art Events:
We plan to expand our geographical influence in 2013 this year, with Keep A Breast Shows in
Paris and London. Hosting these exhibitions in European capitals attracts the national press,
and thus reaches more people.
Additionally, because of the local impact of the "Bordeaux Love Show", including strong
support from the Mayor of Bordeaux and former Prime Minister, we also plan to exhibit a cast
customized by Keep A Breast Centre Communal Social Action in 2014.

KAB Programs
Non Toxic Revolution (NTR)
NTR is a major KAB program whose mission is to inform and educate young people about the
dangers of chemicals (in their home environment, food and cosmetics) and their relationship to
breast cancer. NTR encourages young people to integrate into their lifestyle that is good for
their health.
We presented the program in Berlin in 2012, in partnership with Strychnine Gallery, and will
receive an ISPO “Multichannel Award” for the effort in 2013.
In addition, our NTR Berlin team presented a prevention workshop at a local university.
Planned 2013 NTR Projects:
Charles Maury is responsible for this program.
Depending on budget approvals and in partnership with INCa, we will host a series of
workshops in schools and colleges to sensitize and educate about prevention-based lifestyle. Our
goal is to go to 4 different schools, and set up NTR show in our Gallery next October.
•
Check Your Self !
This year, as in 2011, we distributed approximately 11,000 information leaflets on "breast selfexamination" and "tips to know and love your chest" in English, Italian, and German. This
information is the foundation of KABs educational outreach.
Planned 2013 Check Your Self Projects!:
We will use two new informational resources, created by staff at KAB USA, to reach more
Europeans. These documents summarize practical advice to ensure breast health.
•
I Love Boobies !
This international campaign increases positive communication about breast cancer. The
campaign aims to encourage young people to take care of themselves. T-shirts and bracelets act
as awareness-raising tools, allowing young people to get involved, start talking about a subject
that may seem scary or taboo.
The “I Love Booobies” campaign is specially developed by Martin Davey in England Lenneke
Knappe in Holland and Belgium, and Nils David Gebbert in Germany.
Planned 2013 projects, I Love Boobies:
Keep A Breast Foundation Europe 23, rue de Ruat 33 000 BORDEAUX – FRANCE –Association loi 1901 à but non lucratif. Siret : 509 713 012 00011 Contact : europe@keep-abreast.org - www.keep-a-breast.org/europe
In 2013, we want to return to the territory with the support of Italian Daniele Denegri, and
Switzerland with Corine Task-Berther’support. Baptiste Dieu is currently training with
Lenneke Knappe, then become able develop the campaign in France, Pierre-Bernard Gascogne
also offers its help to set up a distribution network in France. ISPO meetings will be key yo grow
I Love Boobies Program.

4 – KAB Outreach Programs

Imagine If…
This year 137 photos were taken at different events, where we set up our booth and documented
particpants in the Imagine If… campaign. Participation rates throughout all of Europe have not
been systematically tabulated, but we estimate that 80 additional pictures were taken and
archived, totalling about 200 Imagine If… stories.
Planned 2013 Imagine If… Projects:
This year, we established procedure and technologies that allow for easier participation in
Imagine If… We also distributed Imagine If… Kits to various groups and KAB volunteers, which
will allow pictures to take pictures more easily and the quality of results improved in 2013.

This is My Story
This year we filmed This Is My Story testimonies of KAB Ambassadors Anne Flore Marxer and
Anais Caradeux, in both French and English. We have also collected extensive video footage of
KAB Ambassador Margaux Arramon Tucoo.
Planned 2013 This Is my Story Projects:
Next year we plan to take the video testimony of the Mouss Brothers, Sébastien Daurel and
Coline Ménard.
The United States team has also created a new video campaign: "This is My Pink Ribbon," and we
hope to present our Ambassadors here too.

5 – KAB Support Programs
•
Treasured Chest
This program allows women newly diagnosed to illustrate their bodies and feelings at a specific
time of treatment. The program was introduced in clinics and hospitals in the Bordeaux area,
where we casted survivors. We are also asked to send TCP kits in England, Germany, and
Belgium.
Planned 2013 Treasured Chest Projects:
The goal in 2013 is cast women affected by breast cancer in four different places, with one
person in charge of the program voluntarily. Partnership with other organizations already
working with young people, such as Teenage Cancer Trust: http://www.teenagecancertrust.org/,
England, would be important to see the program grow with sending kits at home of patients in
hospital. It will then consider storing the kit at RLP our distributor in Holland, who could
receive orders and send them directly. Shirley Nahon, a young nurse of 33 years will be is in
charge of this project.
•
The KAB
The KAB is the core facility of KABE. It is a place where we offer activities such as yoga, reiki,
relaxation, ayurvedic massages, for all of our members and those who wish to feel good and take
care of themselves. These activities are orchestrated by Shirley Nahon, and are absolutely free to
women affected by breast cancer. This is also where we cast, for our art shows and TCP
program.
The KAB is located in the downtown historical district of Bordeaux. It also includes the KABE
Gallery, a charity shop, and a library of information about breast cancer and our programs.
There is also a corner dedicated to NTR. The turnover of the store in 2012 was 4329 € .
The KAB contains the offices of three trainees, as well as Charles Maury and Shirley Nahon. It
is 90m2 (968sq feet) and therefore can not store materials or to have a more private office for
management and board members.
Planned 2013 The KAB Projects:
Next year, we hope to expand the schedule of speakers and allow more members to have access
to the activities. Volunteers will also be asked to ensure permanence within the Community
Area, which will extend the opening hours to the public all day.
Keep A Breast Foundation Europe 23, rue de Ruat 33 000 BORDEAUX – FRANCE –Association loi 1901 à but non lucratif. Siret : 509 713 012 00011 Contact : europe@keep-abreast.org - www.keep-a-breast.org/europe
The Board agreed to extend this space to an apartment of 40m2 (430sqfeet), located above the
Community Space. This office houses the direction of KAB Europe, the Board of Directors, and
will serve as a meeting room. There will also be stored securely administrative and financial
records, all breast casts, and all printed materials. The annual cost of this new space, including
utilities, will be 7.000eu.
6. KABE Communications
•
Social Networks
The KABE Facebook page reached 1000 fans in 2010, 2000 in 2011, and currently has 3267
European FB followers. So we did not reach our goal of doubling the number of fans, but the
page was created in France in 2012, bringing together 459 French FB followers.
Keep A Breast Italy FB page also grew, reaching 850 Italian FB followers.
Accounts on other social media were opened to increase our awareness including: Flick'r,
Instagram (266 subscribers, like 1008 and 115 photos), and Twitter (262 subscribers and 130
twits).
Planned 2013 Sovial Media Projects :
This is Charles Maury, Head of Communications, which is responsible for increasing our
audience.
•
Press
We had a great press coverage this year (see annex Review Press) as radio, television, newspapers
and magazines that. The Bordeaux Love Show attracted the most attention.
Planned 2013 Press Projects:
We will organize exhibitions in European capitals to attract more press. It is also clear that the
support of celebrities attracted media attention, and the investment of a celebrity with Keep A
Breast would be beneficial to our actions.
•
Newsletter
Charles Maury introduced through the contents of all the teams of volunteer sending a
newsletter to keep our members informed of our activities and projects. 15 newsletters were
sent this year to 1046 contacts.
Planned 2013 Newsletter Projects:
Keep A Breast Foundation Europe 23, rue de Ruat 33 000 BORDEAUX – FRANCE –Association loi 1901 à but non lucratif. Siret : 509 713 012 00011 Contact : europe@keep-abreast.org - www.keep-a-breast.org/europe
We hope to see the number of subscribers to this newsletter grow during the implementation of
the European website portal available only to the relationship between users and our
organization.
•
Website
Charles Maury, in charge of social networks, photo and video content, and NTR works closely
with Torrey, the U.S. team to provide our European public a website that matches our request.
2013 projects, “Website”:
All information for a European site in English will be submitted before 1 February 2013. The
second phase, which will be the responsibility of Lorene Carpentier, will translate each page to
have content in French, then in German and Spanish (probably 2014), thanks to the translations
offered by our volunteers across Europe.

Funding
Keep A Breast Foundation Europe 23, rue de Ruat 33 000 BORDEAUX – FRANCE –Association loi 1901 à but non lucratif. Siret : 509 713 012 00011 Contact : europe@keep-abreast.org - www.keep-a-breast.org/europe
Despite multiple programs and actions throughout Europe, we have not been able to meet the
demands of calls for projects of the City of Bordeaux and the General Council. Our main
concern is the funding of the Non Toxic Revolution in colleges and the art shows.
The Community Center became an epicentre of interest in Bordeaux, s well as the Traveling
Educational Booth. Now that we have the “General Interest” recognition, we are better
positioned to receive governmental grants. Currently, the main source of KABE funding comes
from the grant awarded by The Keep A Breast Foundation.
Planned 2013 Fundraising:
In 2010 we raised 10% of our needs, in 2011 20%, in 2012 we extended our programs and actions,
and raised 30% of our needs. The European Community Center is up and running, and our main
goals next year are: 1) Expand our programs to the UK; 2) Fundraise for up to 40% of KABE's
needs for each program; 3) Set up affiliates in 8 European Countries, allowing us to apply for
European Community Grants.
•
Subsidies
We have already responded to two calls for proposals launched by the National Institute of fight
against Cancer (INCA) to the tune of € 50 000 and € 62 000.
We must pursue these requests from other institutions. We remain optimistic, but are well
aware that we can not depend solely on the United States.
