From the Positive Coaching Alliance, a
preseason parent meeting is a wise
investment. People tend to live up to
expectations if they know them.
A meeting can help mold the behavior
of your athletes’ parents.

Avoiding Blowouts
When adverse weather is present, the
club will make a determination as to
whether games will be played by 7:30
am the day of the game and notice
will be sent via email.
Some tips for ways to keep the score from getting out of hand:
1. Take measures early
2. Put your nonscorers up front
3. Strive to keep scores within 6 goals of your opponent.
Schedules
Games are the first weekend after labor
day. No games September 28/29.
Season ends just before Thanksgiving.
Let your parents know!
Please be patient. Game schedules will
be available around Labor Day, if not
before. Are volunteers work hard to get
the schedules done and assign referees.
You will be notified via email.
Roster Changes
The Club will not grant requests for roster
changes including player adds or swaps.
Such requests tie up our volunteer
resources and compromise our ability to
create balanced teams.

Coaching Basics
Please never forget that the players are
there through choice, for recreation. They
want your assistance to provide a safe
environment where they can enjoy
themselves, meet friends, and improve
their soccer skills. Keep it simple. Don't

GAME ROSTERS: You must bring two

and give them to the refs at the beginning
of each game for them to check.
TRASH PICK UP: After EACH game
please pick up your garbage, tents,
chairs etc and leave the sidelines

spectators.
PICTURE DAY!
Team and individual photos. Picture day
Sept 15th. All players must complete the
photo form to have a picture taken.
Keep lecturing to the bare minimum (if at
all) keep the kids moving from activity to
activity. Let the game teach them!
Game Days are your time to observe the
progress of the team and make notes for
future practices. Minimize or completely
eliminate active sideline talking (or
worse), yelling. Coach quietly and calmly
to sideline players individually or to your
team as a whole during pregame and
halftime. Have Fun and smile a lot!
If you would like assistance in putting
together a practice session, getting some
tips and tricks, or just have some general
questions about the sport, you may
request help from one of our Advanced
Team Coaches or Trainers.
All of the coaches in our Division 3
(Advanced) program are licensed CYSA
soccer coaches and have many years of
coaching experience under their belt.
Just send a request to one of the
coaching coordinators stating your
practice time and location, and we'll get
somebody there to help out!
