Media Kit - David Stine Woodworking
Media Kit David Stine Woodworking Real. American. Furniture. Established 1995 David Stine Woodworking epitomizes the sustainable spirit of traditional American craftsmanship. David is the fourth generation to steward his family’s land in rural Illinois, where he sustainably harvests his own lumber, mills his own boards, and crafts every piece of furniture by hand. David’s design inspiration comes from the forest itself, by how and where the trees grew. As he mills the boards and the inner beauty of the wood is revealed, he often sees what he will build. Each piece of furniture is a testament to the beauty and majesty of the tree from which it came. David’s designs maximize the raw, natural, and singular beauty of the wood—graining, knots, live edges, and all. Call it rural modernism or rustic sophistication, it is a style that combines classic craftsmanship with raw beauty. “My family grew these trees. I stewarded these trees. I sustainably harvested these trees and milled these boards myself,” David says. “From them I create gorgeous, oneof-a-kind pieces of furniture. Responsible, traditional craftsmanship. That’s my art, and that’s my life.” David Stine Woodworking American craftsmanship at its finest. www.sti newoodwork i ng.com 618. 95 4. 8 63 6 Strawn Table Lamb TABLE Wells TABLE www.sti newoodwork i ng.com 618. 95 4. 8 63 6 Stephanie BED Michael BED Ellis BED www.sti newoodwork i ng.com 618. 95 4. 8 63 6 Amagansett TABLE Ambrosia I Jackson TABLE www.sti newoodwork i ng.com 618. 95 4. 8 63 6 David Stine was born and raised on a dairy farm in rural Illinois, where he learned the art of woodworking from his grandfather and father. David is a graduate of Penn State University and holds a law degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He founded David Stine Woodworking in 1995 while a law student. He practiced law for one year before devoting himself full time to furniture craftsmanship. In 2002, he moved back to rural Dow, Illinois, 40 miles north of St. Louis, where he stewards his family’s 500 wooded acres and renovated an 1871 farmhouse and built a woodshop, kiln, studio, sawmill, and drying sheds. Clients often travel to Dow to consult with David, walk the woods, choose their boards, enjoy a hearty meal, and a day at the farm. David’s award-winning work has been featured at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, Dwell On Design, the St. Louis Art Show, the American Craft Council, Art Fair Jackson Hole, the Western Design Conference, and more.
