This section provides general strategies that apply to all matches as well as some tips on specific match types. Gaining Momentum Alongside damage (both inflicting and sustaining), momentum is the biggest factor in match success. If you have the momentum upper hand, you can score a pin against a wrestler that’s even healthier than you are. Your momentum meter raises and lowers depending on the match situation. Perform a successful series of moves to increase your momentum meter. Or find your momentum meter plummeting if your opponent strings together strikes and grapples that keep you on the mat. As stated, landing successful strikes and grapples will increase your momentum meter and lower your opponent’s meter. Countering strikes and grapples will also increase your momentum meter and give you the edge. The higher your momentum meter, the better chance you have of scoring a pin or even escaping from the casket in a Buried Alive match. The meter plays an integral role in almost every facet of the match. Hulk Hogan defined ‘good guy’ wrestler of the 80s. Your wrestler’s match tactics--either clean or dirty--also have great affect on your momentum meter. A wrestler who uses clean tactics is a "good guy" of wrestling. Basically you need to fight fair and entertain the crowd. The following moves increase a clean wrestler’s momentum meter. ● ● ● Perform signature grapple moves. Perform any diving attacks (including cage and hell in a cell) Perform dive attacks from inside the ring to outside the ring. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Counter a weapon attack. Taunt your opponent. Get a rope break during a submission move. Kick out of a pin after a 2 count. Perform moves on the announcer table and destroy the table. Perform a submission counter while you’re in Submission Type B. Refuse to tap out of a submission even though your limb damage is red. Certain moves also lower a clean wrestler’s momentum meter. Obviously these moves should be avoided if you’re a clean wrestler! Lowering your momentum meter means leaving yourself vulnerable to pins and submissions! These moves lower a clean wrestler’s momentum meter. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Perform dirty moves (low blow, eye poke, etc) Weapon attacks. Remove turnbuckle cover. Perform Irish Whip to the exposed turnbuckle. Perform any grapple moves onto the exposed turnbuckle. Break your own pin after a 2 count. Ignore the referee’s rope break and hold the submission. Complain to the referee about a 2 count. Attack the referee. Attack your partner or manager. It can pay to be a "bad guy" as well. If you choose dirty tactics for your wrestler, there are moves that increase and decrease your momentum meter. Think of them as the dirty wrestler’s yin to the clean wrestler’s yang. Basically it’s time to fight dirty! Here are some moves that increase a dirty wrestler’s momentum meter: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Perform dirty moves (low blow, eye poke, etc). Weapon attacks. Remove turnbuckle cover. Perform Irish Whip to the exposed turnbuckle. Perform any grapple moves onto the exposed turnbuckle. Break your own pin after a 2 count. Taunt from outside of the ring when your opponent is in the ring. Attack a wrestler while they are taunting. Ignore the referee’s rope break and hold the submission. Complain to the referee about a 2 count. Attack the referee. Attack your partner or manager. Push (drop) an opponent off the top of a hell in a cell. Attack the illegal opponent at the opposing tag team’s corner. Call for interference. Perform moves on the announcer table and destroy the table. Triple H--the wrestler you love to hate...or just mostly hate. Dirty tactics are part of his game. The following moves provide a negative boost to your momentum meter for dirty wrestlers (tope and plancha are using aerial moves with head and chest, like cross body attacks, so heels get penalized for being high-flyers). ● ● Perform any diving attacks (including cage and hell in a cell). Perform tope-type and plancha-type moves. The best time to go for a pin is after a finishing move, ideally with a full momentum meter and your opponent has a drained momentum meter. You can store a finishing move to use later but it won’t inflict the same damage unless your momentum meter is high. Storing a finishing move then using it when your momentum is low and your opponent’s is high may turn the tide of the match but it likely won’t score a victory. Storing a finisher also helps you perform special finishing moves, like the casket finisher in a Buried Alive match. Store a finisher and gain full momentum and use the L1 finisher button near environmental objects (like the limo in a parking lot or the casket in a Buried Alive match). Smart Damage and Stamina Obviously inflicting damage of any kind is a good thing but it pays to have a plan dishing out damage. Smackdown vs. RAW 2006 (like recent wrestling titles) uses location based damage. Use a move that hurts the leg and you inflict leg damage on your opponent. Hit a DDT on your opponent and you hurt your opponent’s head. The health meter (near the momentum meter) will turn from normal to yellow to orange to red as you inflict more and more damage. You could concentrate completely on damaging your opponent’s legs then once the legs are red, go for a submission hold. You may not have inflicted much or any damage to other body parts but if the legs are weak, your opponent may be forced to submit. Momentum also plays a role here so be sure to go for the tap out when you have high momentum and your opponent has a drained momentum meter. Body part health can actually increase if it’s left untouched for a period of time. That means it’s important to remain aggressive, particularly when you’re attempting to work over a certain part of the body. If left unharmed you may see a body part go from red damage to orange or orange damage to yellow. Keep the pressure on! Submission holds work well for damaging specific body parts. Use these tactics in submission matches where you must force your opponent to tap out to win the match. Haphazardly damaging your opponent could work but it is better strategy to focus your attacks on a single area of the body then use the submission hold on that same body part for a better chance of getting the tap out. Combine your finishing move with location based damage. Determine which area of the body your favorite superstar’s finisher move inflicts damage to and concentrate on inflicting damage to that body part. Then when you hit the finisher, your odds will be even greater to go straight for the pinfall victory. Once again don’t neglect momentum and realize that the higher your momentum meter, the more damage your finisher will inflict and the better odds of getting the victory. You must also regulate your wrestler’s stamina. Performing move after move will drain your wrestler’s stamina meter. As it lowers, you will see your wrestler slow down and even hunch over to catch his or her breath. If your stamina meter lowers completely, then you’re left extremely vulnerable. Your meter regains even slower if it drains completely and you will have to wait patiently before you can even move around the ring effectively. Using the run button can drain stamina quickly; therefore it’s possible to affect your opponent’s stamina by using Irish whips. If you spot your opponent in stamina trouble, Irish whip him around the ring to completely drain his stamina. Now grab him for a high power move! Or even better, a finishing move. Use the select button to regain stamina. Instead of being relentless on your opponent, take moments to regain stamina. If you perform move after move and put your stamina meter in trouble, a single counter from your opponent could mean a huge momentum swing in the match. Lie, Cheat, and Steal In honor of the late Eddie Guerrero, this section offers some ways to "lie, cheat, and steal" you way to victory. It’s possible to drain your opponent’s momentum meter: by stealing their taunt! Store a finisher then use L1 and move the right analog stick as you would taunt normally. You must complete the taunt to drain your opponent’s momentum meter. Stealing your opponent’s finishing move is perfect humiliation. As a clean wrestler, have a stored finisher and fill your momentum meter then press L1 and L2 to steal the finishing move. You must be in the same position as required by your opponent’s finishing move. Try some dirty tricks...like ordering your manager to distract the ref while you knock the ref out! It’s possible to lie about your current state of damage. Maybe you’re just hanging around on the ground waiting for an opportunity to counter: you’re playing possum! Store a special and get knocked to the mat. If your opponent attempts a strike or grapple, counter it with the appropriate second shoulder button while holding the circle button. You’ll go for a quick pin! Another way to cheat is to mess around with the referee. It’s possible, though dangerous, to knock out the referee then use a weapon on your opponent (in matches that feature disqualifications since the weapon use would be illegal). In a manager match you could also use the manager to distract the referee while you go for an illegal move. Messing around with the referee can be dangerous. In fact, if you aren’t careful you may accidentally perform strikes or grapples against the referee and get yourself disqualified when you were actually trying to play clean! As stated in the previous section, dirty wrestlers can boost their momentum meter with various "cheating" and unsavory tactics. For instance, argue with the referee after a pin count (he was counting slowly!) or ignore the referee’s attempt to break the submission hold because your opponent reached the ropes. Tag Team and Manager Control There may be legal and non-legal men in tag matches but you can throw that stuff out of the window for the most part. You shouldn’t sit idly on the apron while your partner does all the work. Get in the ring and assist him with double team maneuvers or run around outside the ring and punch out your other foe standing on the apron waiting for a tag. If you’re allowing your partner to be the legal man, be prepared to run inside the ring and assist when he’s in a submission hold or being pinned. Likewise, use the tag team controls to call your partner into the ring to assist or even get him busy against the non-legal man. Press the left analog stick up to order your partner to attack the non-legal tag opponent; press the left analog stick down to order your partner to attack the legal opponent (request help while you’re battling in the ring!). If you’re standing on the apron as the non-legal man, press the Square button to call for a tag. Assist your tag team partner by breaking up pins or submission holds. The computer opponents will help their ally by running into the ring and preventing a pinfall. It can be quite a challenge keeping your opponent from interfering. It won’t work every time but it could help. Right before you go for the pin, press the left analog stick up so your partner goes for the non-legal opponent. That way your partner can help prevent the non-legal opponent from helping out his friend while you go for the pin. It’s not a sure thing but it could help. You could also perform a finisher on the legal man then perform a running strike against the nonlegal man on the apron. Turn back and go for the pin against the legal man--the one you just pummeled with a finisher. Other strategy would be to tag your partner into the match and wait for him to send the legal opponent outside the ring. Now it’s your turn! Even though you’re the non-legal man, start abusing the legal opponent and keep him outside the ring. The ref will be forced to start a count out! In some matches you may have a manager join you at ringside. Use the left analog stick to order the manager to get a weapon or to distract the referee. Perfect time to use a weapon attack! Battle Royal and Rumble Smackdown vs. RAW 2006’s season mode offers a few opportunities at battle royal matches as well as the ever-popular Royal Rumble. These match types can be a real challenge, particularly in season mode where you are required to win a 6-man battle royal. Although there is a battle royal where you pin opponents to eliminate them, there is also the "over the top" rope version that’s similar to the rumble. The only way to eliminate an opponent is to toss them out of the ring over the top rope. There are a couple ways to accomplish this. If you’re a big wrestler, like Big Show or Andre the Giant you can actually pick up smaller wrestlers with a grapple when the opponent stands groggy. You basically have to be a couple weight classes above whomever you’re trying to pick up to make it work. Form brief alliances when trying to push someone out of the ring. The "tried-and-true" method is to move close to the ropes and Irish whip your opponent toward the rope. They’ll flip over the rope and hang on while standing on the apron. While there, initiate a grapple to reveal the opponent’s ring out meter. Press your buttons rapidly to lower their ring out meter. A duo of wrestlers can grapple an opponent out of the ring; this makes the ring out meter lower even faster. Surviving a battle royal or the Royal Rumble takes patience. Being aggressive can get you in trouble; it’s not a bad idea to hang back and allow your opponents to damage and eliminate one another before you enter the fray. Even get up on a turnbuckle and get out of every one’s way! For instance, patience can help you eliminate other wrestlers. Wait for an opponent to be thrown over the ropes then assist your adversary in knocking that opponent out of the ring by using a grapple. Short-term alliances are the name of the game! Monitor your stamina carefully and take every opportunity to raise it back to normal levels. Don’t exhaust your wrestler’s stamina; that will likely leave to elimination! An important tip is to maintain a stored finisher. With a stored finisher, you can counter a ring out instantly. If you’re thrown over the rope onto the apron, you can press L1 to use your stored finisher to return into the ring. Chamber, Cage, and Cell There are a few match types that take place in cages or cells, like a steel cage match and the infamous Hell in a Cell match. In these matches you can climb the cages (Square plus direction) and even perform diving attacks off of the cage (X). Try Irish whipping your opponent close to the cages and grind your opponent’s head into the metal--a smart tactic in the Elimination Chamber. A few times and you’ve inflicted pretty severe head damage! Also Irish whip opponents into the glass chambers. A traditional steel cage match requires escape to win. A steel cage is lowered around the ring; the first wrestler that climbs the cage and drops off the other side to escape the ring wins the match. Or you can go through the front door by Irish whipping your opponent into the bottom left turnbuckle and using grapple to initiate the mini-game (press the button at the "max" indicator). During match selection you can choose to win by pin or "give up" if you wish as well. Escaping the cage means keeping your opponent down for an extended period of time. More than likely you won’t be able to win a steel cage match quickly. Unless your opponent has suffered some damage, he or she will be able to get up quickly and knock you off the cage before you can escape. Solid finisher management pays off here as does high stamina so you aren’t winded as you approach the cage. Your wrestler’s speed rating aids your climbing speed. Handicap, Triple Threat, Fatal 4-Way Triple threat and fatal 4-way matches are basically free-for-alls. All wrestlers are in play at the same time and whichever wrestler scores the pin (or submission win, etc) gets the victory. Although they are free-for-alls it’s certainly possible to team up with an "opponent" to dish out damage against a common adversary. But watch your back because the next moment that former friend could be the one punching you in the gut! The challenge is being about to get a pinfall without being interrupted by the other opponent. The computer-controlled wrestlers are savvy at kicking out your pin attempts. You can attempt to incapacitate all opponents before going for the pin (a couple finishers help). Likewise, watch for any opponents going for the pin and kick them out to prevent the victory. The challenge in free-for-all matches is incapacitating all competitors long enough to get an uninterrupted pin. In a handicap match is basically an uneven tag match. It could be one on two or two on three or even more lopsided. Your goal would be to try and keep a weakened opponent inside the ring and not tagging in a fresh wrestler. Stay away from your opponent’s corner whenever possible and don’t venture outside the ring unless you have backup! Tables, Chairs, Ladders and Hardcore A table match, a ladder match, and a hardcore match may have different objectives but they all have one thing in common: weapons. You can pick up tables, chairs, ladders, and anything else hidden underneath the ring (there sure is a lot of weaponry underneath there!). In a table match your goal is to slam your opponent through the table to get the win; in a ladder (and TLC match) your goal is to climb the ladder and grab the belt (or whatever object) that hangs above the middle of the ring; and a hardcore match is simple, just get the pin and anything goes! Setting up the ladder and climbing it takes some time so make sure your opponent is incapacitated before going for the win. It can be a tough match type because the computer is relentless. If you don’t keep your opponent far away, you may find your opponent on the other side of the ladder--if he knocks you off he might get an easy win! Nail a finisher on your opponent as far from the middle of the ring as possible then go for the ladder and the hanging belt. You can also send them out of the ring with an Irish whip so they lay outside the ring while you quickly scamper up the ladder for the win. In a table match you must set up a table (either standing in the ring or propped up in a turnbuckle) and break the table by sending your opponent through it. Irish whip your opponent onto the table then perform some type of slam move (a finisher that’s a slam like a powerbomb is a great choice). Brawls During season mode you’ll have the chance to battle in parking lot and bar brawl matches. It’s essentially a hardcore match in a unique location! Plus there are bunches of unique animations and environmental effects to try out. Irish whip your opponent into various objects then perform a grapple onto that object. For instance, the limo in the parking lot can be used as a grapple: you’ll nail your opponent’s head with the door! Test out different areas of the bar and parking lot. Try grappling against the pool table, for instance. The bar brawl is a new match type for 2006. There’s also a finishing move unique to the parking lot--it’s an instant ender! Store a special move then increase your momentum meter to maximum. Grapple your opponent and use a strike then move around so you drag your opponent by the hair over toward the limo’s rear door. Now grapple your opponent (without a direction) and watch the pain delivery! Anything goes in the parking lot and bar brawls. Stay aggressive with the use of weapons and Irish whip your opponent into the various objects around the environment. Buried Alive A new match in Smackdown vs. RAW 2006 is the Buried Alive match made famous by the legendary Undertaker. The object is simple: get your opponent into a casket and close the door. The casket is found away from the ring near the entrance ramp. You’re free to fight in the ring or anywhere you want (no count outs) but you must bury your opponent in the casket to get the win. Getting your opponent into the casket is just the beginning...closing the casket door is the hard part! Irish whip your opponent toward the casket to get him inside then grapple to start pushing him inside. Tap the buttons rapidly to win the battle at the casket. Once inside, you must press the right analog stick down to close the door; your opponent has a chance to counter here as well. This escape depends on your opponent’s momentum so it’s best to lower your opponent’s momentum as much as possible before going for the win. Try stealing your opponent’s taunt to lower their momentum! There’s also a unique finishing move for the match. Store a finisher and fill your momentum meter completely before attempting to shove your opponent inside the casket. With a stored finisher and full momentum, use the L1 button with your opponent in the casket to finish off the match. Chapter 3: RAW Season This section provides a general walkthrough for season mode for RAW brand wrestlers. You can choose a WWE superstar to control or even your own created wrestler. Note that storylines differ depending on your selected superstar. The walkthrough provides details on differences and alternate storylines. Keep in mind however that some of your scenes and matches may differ than those detailed in this walkthrough. Basically if your selected superstar plays an integral role in a particular storyline then you’ll play an alternate storyline. For example, choose Hulk Hogan and you begin with Uneasy Allies but won’t see the Legends Tour; however, select Triple H, who is part of the Uneasy Allies storyline and you’ll start on the Legends Tour and never take part in Uneasy Allies. Uneasy Allies You begin with a match against perennial heel Triple H alongside his manager, the Nature Boy Ric Flair. Avoid being outside the ring where Flair can join in the attacks. In typical fashion, you’re beat up by both of them after the match. After the match Shelton Benjamin joins you in the locker room and suggests a partnership. But Shelton certainly has his own agenda. He wants the glory of pinning Triple H a second time so he can get a title shot that he claims he deserves. The next match is a normal tag team match; it’s you and Shelton Benjamin versus Triple H and Ric Flair. You can control the match yourself or allow Shelton Benjamin to go toe-to-toe with the WWE superstars. If Shelton is the legal man, attack the non-legal opponent or even enter the ring often to assist Shelton against the legal opponent. When going for the pin, try to have Shelton engaged with the non-legal man so you can prevent the kick out assist. Likewise, if you’re being pinned, call for help using the left analog stick down (he’ll attack the legal man). After the match, Triple H and Ric Flair team up and attack Shelton Benjamin. Ric Flair does his strut around the ring while Triple H continues to gloat. The Nature Boy Ric Flair is a master of the figure-4 leg lock. It’s time for a submission match against Ric Flair, one of the best submission wrestlers in the game. Use maneuvers that damage one specific part of the body, such as the head or the arms or legs. The more damage inflicted to a specific body part, the easier it will be to score a tap out when using a submission hold on that same body part. After the match, a couple Smackdown! superstars (Cena and Big Show) arrive and attack the RAW superstars. Ric Flair takes Cena’s chain on the forehead. You and Triple H try to take on the Big Show but get wiped out; he then joins Cena in the ring to deliver a punishing chokeslam to Flair, who’s likely already wasted after your beating. Finally with a couple weapons in hand, you and Triple H chase the Smackdown! superstars out of the ring. Perhaps you and Triple H have a new common foe! At the next show, Triple H enters the ring flashing his heavyweight title. Ric Flair joins him...but his only belt is the one around his neck supporting his injury. Ric Flair can’t style and can barely profile after the beating from Cena (smashed larynx!) and Big Show. After his usual prancing, Triple H talks smack against those invaders from Smackdown! You join your former adversaries inside the ring. Eric Bischoff enters and encourages you and Triple H to get on the same page. Smackdown! invaded this show! He organizes a match against the Smackdown! crew at Summerslam. But beforehand, you’re going to Smackdown! to return the favor. The Board of Directors have sanctioned a crossbrand match at Summerslam. John Cena and Big Show enter the Smackdown! ring and make fun of Triple H and Ric Flair (seeing Big Show strut like the Nature Boy is a little odd). You and Triple H charge the ring with weapons in hand. You battle John Cena and Big Show in essentially a hardcore tornado tag. Weapons are completely legal and pinfall is anywhere. Careful using weapons if you’ve selected a "good guy" clean wrestler because weapon usage will lower your momentum meter. Shelton warns you not to get too close to Triple H during your uneasy alliance (his warning sounds like a veiled threat). But your focus is on Cena and Show. It’s time to team against them. It’s a tag team match; Ric Flair joins your side as a manager. This isn’t like the previous match: don’t attack with weapons or you’ll suffer a disqualification. You can attack non-legal opponent outside ring. The addition of Flair certainly helps in this regard. You can also use Flair to distract the referee (left analog stick to the left). With the referee distracted you could use a weapon if you wanted but it’s a big risk. After match Shelton Benjamin charges the ring to take out Triple H with a chair. Apparently he was waiting for just this opportunity despite your alliance with his adversaries as well as your supposed allegiance to Shelton. Triple H summons you to the ring and gives you two "presents". The first is thanks for having his back at the Summerslam match. The second is a free pass. Despite just standing there while Shelton Benjamin smashed Triple H with a chair, he gives you a free pass out of the ring and out of his life. You decide whether to face Triple H or your former ally Shelton Benjamin in a steel cage. Tonight’s Main Event is a non-title match featuring Shelton Benjamin vs. Triple H (managed by Ric Flair). You can choose to manage Shelton Benjamin to even the odds or stay out of it and remain backstage. Your choice changes the next match. You either help Shelton or actually take Triple H’s place. After the match, more beatdowns continue. Eric Bischoff takes control of the situation and bans all managers from the next match at Unforgiven--a steel cage match. It’s an Intercontinental Title match. The final match in the storyline is a steel cage match against either Triple H or Shelton Benjamin (depending on who you helped): win by pin or submission, not escape from the cage. Standard match strategies apply, though you can use the cage for additional grapples and aerial maneuvers. After the match, Eric Bischoff arrives to void the referee’s decision! Due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the title match, Eric considers it only fair to vacate the title until a proper rematch can be held. Not exactly the ending you were hoping for! Legends Tour Eric Bischoff selects you to take part in the WWE Legends Tour. First up is a standard singles match against the British Bulldog. After the match, Jimmy Hart (legends tour general manager!) interrupts some of your schmoozing with the divas. He sets up your next match: it’s against Canada’s favorite son, Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Hopefully you’ll be as good in the ring as you are with the ladies. Jimmy Hart has scheduled a submission match...in Canada? The ghost of the Survivor Series looms overhead. It’s you against The Hitman in a submission match. Bret Hart is a submission specialist. Focus your attacks on one body part and go for submission holds that further damage that area. Relive one of the greatest matches ever: Mankind and Undertaker in Hell in a Cell. In the next scene, you issue a challenge to whichever WWE legend is brave enough to get in the ring. Jimmy Hart proposes a Hell in a Cell match with Mankind and the Undertaker! It’s an update of the classic match where Mankind was thrown off the top of the cell but continued the match. It’s a triple threat match in the Hell in a Cell. To get the win you must incapacitate one opponent before going for the pin; otherwise you’ll get kicked out. Save up a finisher then wait until momentum is full again to nail each opponent with a finisher. Or try and knock one opponent out of the ring then drop a finisher on the other. After the match, Stone Cold Steve Austin emerges from backstage. He gives Jimmy Hart the stunner! Stone Cold gyrates around the ring before he returns backstage. At the next tour destination, Stone Cold prances around the ring and proclaims his legend status. After being badmouthed, Jimmy Hart confronts Stone Cold in the ring (Jimmy Hart is brave!) and calls out the big guns...you! Well, actually the Mouth of the South didn’t mean you. But a match is assigned: you and Steve Austin versus some WWE legends, such as The Rock and Hulk Hogan. Then you compete in a 6-man battle royal against five other WWE legends. It’s not like a Royal Rumble; it’s pin to win. A pinned wrestler remains outside the ring--be careful cause they will still go after you! Save up finishers and defeat each legend in turn. Don’t hesitate to stand back and allow the legends to beat on each other before you make a move. Win this battle royal and you receive the Legend Killer trophy. After the match you try and be the nice guy and mediate a dispute between legends only to get beatdown. You receive some comfort in the locker room from a couple divas before choosing who to battle next. You can choose Mankind before the show and Austin in a first blood match or Austin before the show and Mankind in a Parking Lot brawl match. The first is a bar brawl with Mankind followed by a first blood match; the later is a bar brawl with Austin followed by a parking lot brawl. Stone Cold Steve Austin probably has plenty of experience in bar brawls. The brawl matches are entertaining: essentially hardcore matches outside of the ring. Grab weaponry, throw wrestlers into cars or jukeboxes, and use anything in your environment to gain an edge. In the parking lot match, you can perform a limo finisher by saving up a finisher and gaining full momentum then grappling the opponent into the limo. Win the bar brawl and you receive the Bar Brawl trophy, which unlocks the Locker Room Juke Box sound system as well as the Hardcore Wall Ornament Collection in the WWE shop. After these matches you confront Bischoff about your promised title match. But Bischoff may have promised more than he can deliver. Needless to say, you’re not pleased--and it’s back to the grind. A Very Special Story Eugene and William Regal are the new tag team champions! You walk into the locker room during their celebration. Eugene and Regal are feuding against the reunited team of Edge and Christian. In the opening match of this storyline, you battle Christian in a singles match. Edge joins his tag team partner as a manager. Standard singles match strategies apply; avoid moving outside the ring so you don’t get involved with Edge. Later that night, Edge and William Regal battle. During the match, the lovely Trish Stratus distracts Eugene; he fails to aid Regal while Edge uses the rope to win the match. In fact, Edge continues his submission hold well after the match is over. Eugene finally helps but well after the damage is done. Despite the injury to William Regal, the tag titles will be on the line at Taboo Tuesday. Early in the storyline you’re one-on-one against Christian and Edge while Eugene continues to get distracted. You’re asked to fill in for William Regal as a member of the tag team championship team alongside Eugene. The title defense is tomorrow night--tonight you’ll face Edge, the other half of the opposing tag team. Eugene is instructed to help you at ring side and to ignore the "vile" Trish Stratus. The match is a singles match with managers so avoid getting involved outside the squared circle. After the match, Trish distracts Eugene again. You’re pummeled by Edge and fall into Trish; Eugene is crushed at the sight of Trish in pain...poor guy. And it comes as little surprise that Trish was faking her injury--it’s all part of Edge and Christian’s plan. Eugene is under her spell. It’s time for the World Tag Team Championship. You’re filling in for William Regal: it’s you and Eugene versus Edge and Christian at Taboo Tuesday. Unfortunately it turns out you’re all alone: Eugene is absent! It’s essentially a handicap match. Try to prevent tags and keep the damaged opponent inside the ring. After the match, the title is stripped because of Eugene’s absence. You can choose your reaction to Eugene dropping the ball. You can choose to forgive him: he does get confused sometimes. Or you can be annoyed that Eugene failed to show up for the title defense. If you choose to side with Eugene, you and William Regal try to convince Eugene that Trish, Edge, and Christian aren’t to be trusted. It’s not an easy task! You’ve got a no-disqualification match against Christian. Since Edge will surely be there to assist you ask Eugene to show up and provide back-up in case Edge attempts some sort of ambush. But from Eugene’s expression, you’re not entirely sure he understands what’s going on. Once again you’re coming out to the ring all by yourself. No-disqualification means weapons can be used but be cautious if you’re a good guy: weapon usage drains your momentum meter. If you choose to side against Eugene, you argue with Eugene and William Regal in the locker room. Eugene wants to have a match with you. You battle Eugene in a singles match. The storyline then continues into the next segment. Eugene is still under Trish’s spell. She has another favor for him: she wants Eugene to be a special referee in the match tonight: you versus Edge. After the match, Regal calls out Stratus in the ring: she’s no friend to Eugene. But Christian charges into the ring and knocks Regal out with the tag team championship belt. Eugene pummels Christian; he’s stopped by Eric Bischoff before he can go after Trish. Eric Bischoff announces the tag match at Survivor Series will be a ladder match. Also, Trish Stratus’ contract will also be on the line! Edge and Trish leave Christian in the parking lot. The perfect time for an ambush! It’s a parking lot brawl: basically beat your opponent senseless using objects around the environment. Irish whip Christian into various objects then perform a grapple for special environmental maneuvers. Get close to the limo (left side of the lot) and with a saved finisher and full momentum, grapple into the limo. If you can take care of both Edge and Christian, Eugene can handle the ladder. Survivor Series has finally arrived: a ladder tornado tag match against Edge and Christian. This can be a challenging match because the AI is adept at preventing you from getting up the ladder. When Eugene is engaged with his opponent, preferably outside of the ring, incapacitate the other superstar and go for the belt. Another sound strategy would be to concentrate your attacks on both opponents while allowing Eugene to go for the belt. Don’t forget the ladder can be used as a weapon. Win and celebrate in the middle of the ring with William Regal and Eugene. You give over the title back to Regal but in exchange you’re the one who keeps Trish’s contract. But since you "gave" Regal the title, Eric Bischoff uses the precedent set by Andre the Giant and Million Dollar Man back in the WWF classic era: the titles are now vacated! What’s up with all the vacated titles? By winning Trish’s contract, you can bring her ringside as your manager whenever the "Diva" button is lit in the match-up screen. It’s also part one of two steps to unlock the Collect-A-Diva trophy. You must play the Smackdown! storyline to complete the second part. Time to Rumble You begin the Royal Rumble storyline with entry number 15 out of 30 superstars. You can check your current Royal Rumble entry number on the bulletin board at your desk in the Locker Room. Vince McMahon comes up with an idea to improve your current Royal Rumble entry number. The first is an Iron Man match. The difference between your pinfalls and your opponent’s is added to your entry number. The other choice is a triple threat against the first and last entrant into the Royal Rumble. If you win, you get to be #30 but if you lose, you’re #1! Keep in mind that the higher your entry number, the later you enter the Royal Rumble and the better your chances. This is certainly a risk-reward situation. The Ironman match is simpler but you probably won’t improve your number all the way to spot 30 (though it’s possible). It’s a safer bet and should get you into the twenties. Be very aggressive once you have wounded your opponent and save up finishers to nail two in succession for multiple pins. The triple threat is a gamble because you can get unlucky and be forced into the first Royal Rumble slot. Make sure you break up any opponent pins and try to incapacitate one opponent while pinning the other. Before the rumble you’ll take part in a 6-Man Battle Royal "Over the Top Rope"; it essentially simulates the rumble but it also simulates the match that follows should you lose the Royal Rumble. Similar strategies apply to this match as well as the rumble and the subsequent battle royal if you lose the rumble. The Royal Rumble storyline contains a few battle royals, including one that must be won. Look for opportunities to assist other superstars in pushing another wrestler out of the ring. You have a "ring out" meter. If it lowers completely while you’re hanging onto the ropes or the apron, you’ll be pushed out. Basically in a one-on-one situation, you have two opportunities if you’re being pushed out of the ring. Try to form "mini-alliances" and help other superstars eliminate an opponent...then turn and punch your former ally! Irish whip superstars as close to the rope as possible to send your opponent over the rope then grapple them to force them off the apron. It may also be wise to avoid confrontation. "Hide" on the top turnbuckle and wait for other superstars to weaken one another before joining the contest. Be careful maneuvering too close to the ropes; your opponents are adept at whipping you over the rope. With big strong wrestlers, use "up" grapple when the opponent is groggy to pick your opponent up and toss them out of the ring. You’ll take part in the Royal Rumble based on your entry point. Be patient and avoid big confrontations near the ropes. Look for double-team opportunities and easy chances to send someone out of the ring. If you lose, you’re forced into a six-man Battle Royale and it’s a must win to continue onward. Use similar strategy: look to double-team and "help" wrestlers out of the ring, don’t get caught near the ropes, and be patient and away from the action if necessary. Road to Wrestlemania There are two versions of the final RAW storyline, "Road to Wrestlemania". In one version, Steve Austin becomes the RAW general manager; in the other, the RAW general manager position floats between several people before finally resting on the legend Jimmy Hart. The current heavyweight champion also differs. In the Steve Austin version, Batista is the champ; in the Jimmy Hart version, Triple H is the champ. Obviously the storyline depends on your selected wrestler. The Steve Austin as GM/Batista is champ version begins with Eric Bischoff strutting in the center of the squared circle. He congratulates the RAW superstar performances at the rumble. Despite new champions there are issues with the title belts. Before he can explain himself, Vince McMahon moves down the ramp and into the ring. He’s had enough of RAW superstars being stripped of their titles. Making the rabid wolverine submit isn’t an easy task. Eric has had a plan with a Smackdown! superstar: JBL. He’s going to provide financial backing to create a new wrestling empire. Vince gets desperate! The familiar music of Stone Cold Steve Austin plays: he gives JBL the stunner then confronts Bischoff in the ring. But it’s in Eric Bischoff’s contract that he can’t be harmed as long as he’s the General Manager of RAW. You know what’s coming next. Vince fires Bischoff and Austin unleashes the stunner. He hires Stone Cold as the new manager. The first order of business is to unravel the conspiracy. You’re going to help them find the RAW traitor. First up is a submission match against Chris Benoit. Could he be the traitor? Chris Benoit is a submission specialist (his finishing move is the powerful submission hold the Crippler Crossface). Weaken a specific body part and use submission holds on that area for the win. After the match, Chris Benoit isn’t too pleased about being labeled a traitor. He tells you to follow the trail of gold...does that mean one of the champions is the traitor? Next up is a normal tag team match with you and Kane against Randy Orton and Chris Benoit. Tag Kane in and allow the big man to take care of business while you assist against the legal and nonlegal man. Help Kane if he’s being pinned and, if you’re the legal man, call for help! You’re then sent to the No Way Out Smackdown pay-per-view to gather more info regarding the traitor. For now, though, you’re given a choice in the upcoming match. You can battle Kane in a non-title match. Or you can fight Randy Orton, who came to Benoit’s defense a little too fast. You spot Batista coming out of JBL’s limo at the No Way Out pay-per-view. Did you catch the traitor or just a coincidence? Time for another choice: you can team up with Batista in a tag team match and beat the truth out of JBL or you can consider Batista the traitor and battle him! Orton and Benoit don’t trust Batista and his limo story. The search for the traitor becomes more and more complicated as you take part in normal tag team match against Randy Orton and Benoit. Austin considers a title match between you and the champ at Wrestlemania. JBL ambushes Austin and Batista ambushes you...he was the traitor afterall! Orton and Benoit were right! The battle between JBL and RAW continues. Vince sanctions a match between JBL and Batista and you and Steve Austin. But he adds a few more twists. If you win, you can pick the type of match when you face Batista at Wrestlemania. Also, Vince McMahon will be tonight’s special referee! It doesn’t matter if you win or lose the match, though a win means you can select the type of match when competing at Wrestlemania 21. The RAW season concludes with a title match versus Batista at Wrestlemania 21. Complete the match and JBL then Stone Cold comes to save the day. Complete the season to receive the RAW trophy, unlock Stone Cold Steve Austin, unlock Hulk Hogan 80’s for purchase, and $10,000 cash. The alternate version of the Road to Wrestlemania storyline begins with Triple H as current champion. It begins the same; however Vince McMahon simply fires Eric Bischoff in the ring and Stone Cold doesn’t emerge. Punish Bradshaw, otherwise known as JBL, with the limo in this parking lot brawl. In the first battle, you have a parking lot brawl with JBL. Afterward, Triple H dishes some of his usual banter and intimidation in the ring...oh, and plus you’re on the receiving end of a beatdown. You’re saved by, of all people, the Hurricane. You have a tag team match against HHH and Flair. Hurricane is one of the weaker wrestlers so it’s almost a handicap match--careful leaving the Hurricane out there for too long! After the match, you and Hurricane enter the GM’s office and find Coach in the GM’s chair. You face Flair in a submission match while Hurricane goes up against HHH...in a match that lasts about 3 seconds. Next up, a singles match against Chris Jericho...and another ambush! You then are scheduled for a table, ladders, and chairs match against Chris Jericho. It’s essentially a ladder match with the addition of tables and chairs for more weapons. Incapacitate Jericho far from the ring so you can position the ladder in the squared circle and go for the win. After the match, Flair and Jericho give Coach a beating and Jerry "The King" Lawler is inserted as the new interim General Manager of RAW. He sets up a first blood match against either Ric Flair or Chris Jericho. Obviously it’s best to go for moves that can bust a guy open (head wounds, like a big boot). Beatdowns from Triple H and his cohorts continue. Eventually the WWE legend Mankind saves you and Jimmy Hart arrives as new RAW general manager (Mankind will be the sheriff!). One last match before Wrestlemania: you and Mankind against Triple H and Ric Flair. Wrestlemania 21 arrives: you versus Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match. Chapter 4: Smackdown! Season This section provides a general walkthrough for season mode for Smackdown! brand wrestlers. For example, choose Undertaker and you won’t take part in the "Urning Your Spot" storyline since Undertaker is a key figure in that story. Instead select Big Show to take part in that storyline. In the opening prologue, Smackdown! general manager Teddy Long is run down by a mystery assailant. This is referenced many times during the storylines and the assailant can differ depending on which storylines you get...the mystery assailant can even be a surprising superstar! Torrie’s Contract You begin to investigate the attack on Theodore Long, but your investigation seems to just rile up WWE superstars John Cena and Rob Van Dam. You’re given a choice: side with John Cena or Rob Van Dam. You face the "one you fingered" in a singles match. But frankly you really don’t trust either of them because after that match you face the other in another singles match. Standard single match strategies apply. After a couple matches you’re now in a three-way feud: it’s you, John Cena, and Rob Van Dam. John Cena even provides one of his signature raps. Torrie Wilson arrives to try and mediate the situation. Torrie asks you for help: Cena and Van Dam are going to tear each other apart over the accusations. Torrie asks a special favor from you: be the special referee in the match between John Cena and Rob Van Dam to keep it under control. You’re the referee! You control the pin count and can even rough up one or both of the competitors if you wish. You aren’t really doing much wrestling and can simply sit back and wait for submission holds and pinfalls. Settle your differences in a triple threat match! The animosity continues after the match. There can be only one solution: a triple threat Match at the Judgment Day pay-per-view! For the winner: the right to Torrie’s contract. It’s a free-for-all; whichever superstar gets the pin wins the match. If Cena or RVD go for the pin against each other, interrupt it with a ground attack. Try to incapacitate one while pinning the other (toss out of the ring or perform a finisher). After the match, JBL emerges from backstage. Apparently before Teddy Long’s "accident", JBL signed a contract for the services of Torrie Wilson...and she didn’t even know it! The triple threat match was a sham. You’ve been had. You couldn’t win a contract because it was already the possession of JBL. JBL enters the ring with Torrie Wilson and Orlando Jordan. He claims of all his great accomplishments (like being one of the greatest WWE champions of all time), the greatest was perhaps adding Torrie Wilson to his side. You enter from backstage to confront JBL. You challenge him to a match for Torrie’s Contract but he sidesteps and you’ll face off against his "administration," which includes Orlando Jordan and the Basham Brothers. You can choose to team up with either Rob Van Dam or John Cena. It’s a handicap match: tag against a trio. Play the match like a standard tag team match. The "administration" has a numbers advantage so try to prevent your opponents from tagging in a fresh man. After the match, JBL’s administration knocks you senseless: the beating includes a slam through a table. Backstage Torrie tells you that she’s convinced JBL to put up her contract up for grabs at Vengeance in an Ironman match. The catch is that it’s a lifetime contract: lose and Torrie is JBL’s forever. Oh and there’s another catch: defeat Orlando Jordan tonight first. But Van Dam complicates things. He wants to be the one to take on Orlando Jordan so you must battle him first in a hardcore match. You could end this storyline on Velocity. Not a career highlight! This is a tough sequence because you must defeat RVD then battle Jordan after you’re already hurt and damaged. In the hardcore match, weapons are completely legal (and encouraged). Find more weapons underneath the ring. If you’re a "bad guy" weapons are great because they raise your momentum meter. Beat RVD and you continue onward to face Orlando Jordan: but you’re entire body is in the yellow and it doesn’t take much damage to get you into the orange. JBL is at ringside as a manager; don’t leave the ring or you’ll have to deal with Layfield as well. Maintain aggression early on and build your momentum meter quickly for a finisher. Your success in this sequence determines the storyline’s conclusion: it’s either an Ironman match against JBL at Vengeance or a "demotion" to Velocity where you face a WWE diva! If you can best JBL, you win Torrie Wilson’s contract. Whenever the "Diva" button is lit in the match-up screen, you’ll have the option of bringing her to ringside as your manager for your next match. This is one part of unlocking the Collect-A-Diva trophy. Play the RAW season and win Trish Stratus’ contract to complete the second part. Urning Your Spot You speak with Booker T in the locker room about the attack on Teddy Long. Booker isn’t forthcoming with information. He challenges you to a match: perhaps he’ll answer some questions after a decisive beatdown. Battle Booker in a standard singles match. At the end of the match, familiar music hits and the Undertaker appears in the ring. He chokeslams Booker T--so much for getting information from him! Kurt Angle confronts you. He thinks you’re in league with the Undertaker--perhaps the Deadman took care of your dirty work? You challenge him to a match; Kurt Angle switches it to a submission match. Kurt Angle is one of the best submission wrestlers; one of his finishers is the Ankle Lock. Inflict damage to a specific body part and initiate submission holds that further damage that part to get the tap out. At the match conclusion, the Undertaker’s music resonates throughout the arena once again. The Undertaker appears in the ring and counters an Angle Slam then delivers a Last Ride. That’s two superstars in two weeks. And still nothing has been done to you...getting suspicious! While Angle and Booker T call out Undertaker in the middle of the ring, Eddie Guerrero enters the arena and proposes a match. It’s you and Eddie against Angle and Booker T in a normal tag match. In the locker room, Eddie handles Undertaker’s urn! Whoever has the urn controls the Undertaker! Your discovery leads to some animosity and a choice. You can side with Eddie or choose to not go along with his plan. It leads to the No Mercy pay-per-view! Eddie Guerrero is one of the best wrestlers in the game. Rest in peace. If you choose not to side with Eddie, you face him at No Mercy with Undertaker as Eddie’s manager. Don’t maneuver outside of the ring. Expect a hefty beatdown at the end of the match! Next you face Eddie in a ladder match. Afterward, you break into Eddie’s locker after the match and search for the urn, which you find! Now it’s in your possession. Battle Eddie again in a match; Undertaker emerges at the match’s conclusion and you attempt to hand back the urn. The Undertaker doesn’t seem too thrilled to have it back...because it was a fake urn! Eddie lies, cheats, and steals. It’s time for Survivor Series and you’re up against the Undertaker in a Buried Alive match. The object of the Buried Alive match is to place your opponent into the casket located near the entrance ramp. The first part is getting your opponent inside the casket; the second part is burying him! To get him inside the casket, Irish whip your opponent into the casket and press circle plus a D-pad direction (a grapple essentially) then rapidly tap any button. If he gets inside the casket it’s time to bury. Press the right-analog stick down to lower the casket. Make sure your opponent’s momentum meter is low before attempting to lower the casket and bury him. Otherwise your opponent can stop the casket from lowering and you’ll have to start over. An ideal way to lower your opponent’s momentum quickly is to steal their taunt. Store a finishing move, hold L1, and move the right-analog stick. If you finish their taunt completely, your opponent’s momentum will be drained. It is also possible to end the match with a special finishing move. Save a finisher then with full momentum, send him into the casket and perform a finishing move to end the match. Eventually you’ll have to move the match toward the casket so you can go for the win. You may want to weaken the Undertaker before moving over there. You don’t have to drag him there; if you move to the casket, he’ll eventually follow. Once there work on building your momentum while lowering the Undertakers and prepare to bury! Legends Tour The Coach is the acting general manager of Smackdown during Teddy Long’s absence. He wants to put together a Legends Tour and asks you to help out. You decline the offer because you want to help investigate the attack against Teddy Long. Torrie tries to convince you--it’s a chance for you to prove yourself and to your fans. Coach promises to pull some strings. If you’ll go on the tour, he’ll put together a WWE title opportunity. First up is a singles match against the British Bulldog. Standard single match strategies apply. In the next scene, Shawn Michaels speaks with the audience in German and references your submission match and its similarities to that controversial match at the Survivor Series. He wants to try and reconcile with Bret Hart and bury the hatchet once and for all. Instead of Bret Hart, you enter the ring. After some grandstanding, Jimmy Hart emerges and notes that Bret Hart isn’t happy backstage. What’s the best way to solve a three-man feud? A triple threat match! Shawn Michaels versus Bret Hart in Canada...that rings a bell. To get the win you must incapacitate either HBK or The Hitman before going for the pin; otherwise you’ll get kicked out. No one is going to simply let you win! Save up a finisher then wait until momentum is full again to nail each opponent with a finisher. Or try and knock one opponent out of the ring then drop a finisher on the other. Make sure you prevent a pinfall as well! If you see one being pinned, kick out with a ground attack. After the match, Stone Cold Steve Austin emerges from backstage. He gives Jimmy Hart the stunner! Win this battle royal and you receive the Legend Killer trophy (unless you’ve won it on RAW). Win the bar brawl and you receive the Bar Brawl trophy (unless you won it on RAW), which unlocks the Locker Room Juke Box sound system as well as the Hardcore Wall Ornament Collection in the WWE shop. After these matches you confront Coach about your promised title match if you participated in the Legends tour. But it seems like Coach may have promised more than he can deliver. You’re not pleased. It’s back to trying to discover Teddy Long’s assailant as the Royal Rumble approaches! Play it safe with an Ironman match or take a risk and go for the triple threat! Before the rumble you’ll take part in a 6-Man Battle Royale "Over the Top Rope"; it essentially simulates the rumble but it also simulates the match that follows should you lose the Royal Rumble. Similar strategies apply to this match as well as the rumble and the subsequent battle royale if you lose the rumble. Road to Wrestlemania There are two versions of the final Smackdown storyline, "Road to Wrestlemania". In one version, Rob Van Dam is the current champ and he tries to bring ECW back! In the other version, John Cena is the current champ and the mystery of Teddy Long’s assailant is revealed to surprising results! The storyline you receive depends on your selected wrestler. Basically if you want the John Cena storyline, select the ECW wrestlers in the RVD storyline (RVD, Rey Mysterio, Benoit, Tajiri, Spike Dudley as well as Big Show and Booker T). The Rob Van Dam is champ storyline opens with Teddy Long return to the ring! You’re invited to the squared circle; you were the winner of the Royal Rumble after all. As you approach the ring, Rob Van Dam charges you and knocks you out from behind with the WWE title. It also appears that Rob Van Dam has spray painted ECW on the belt. According to RVD, ECW is taking over Smackdown. Apparently you’re going to have to prove yourself as "extreme" before RVD will give you proper title consideration. Your opening match is against Rey Mysterio with Rob Van Dam looking on as a manager. That never goes well, does it? Rey Mysterio is quick and elusive but weak against a strong, bruising wrestler. Avoid moving outside of the ring. Pinning Mysterio may be tough on occasion as RVD tries to distract the referee. After the match, Chris Benoit and Tajiri storm the ring for a little beatdown (you do get beatdown a lot, don’t you?). Rob Van Dam joins in for good measure; nice frog splash off on the table. Once backstage, Spike Dudley a former ECW star himself apologizes for the behavior of his fellow former ECW wrestlers. He claims he belongs on Smackdown and appears to distance himself from what happened earlier. He warns you that you may get jumped again and offers a partnership in the ring. You and Spike face Benoit and Tajiri in a table tornado tag. Your goal is to slam Benoit or Tajiri through the table. Set the table up then Irish whip an opponent onto the table. Climb onto the table then perform some type of body slam maneuver to bust your opponent through the table. It’s a tornado tag so all superstars are in the ring at once. After the match, Spike Dudley proves he’s really an ECW kinda guy as you’re completely wasted by all three. No Way Out approaches; it’s the last pay-per-view before Wrestlemania. Before then you have a choice of partner in this upcoming match: Big Show or Booker T. It’ll be a three on two match against Benoit, Spike Dudley and Tajiri. Whichever superstar isn’t picked will watch the stage entrance for any other overzealous ECW stars. Use tag team strategies; try not to allow your opponents to tag in fresh men since they have the number advantage. Rob Van Dam is a quick wrestler with a varied set of aerial maneuvers. At the No Way Out pay-per-view you’ll face Rob Van Dam in a table, ladders, and chairs match. Don’t hesitate to use weaponry, just realize it will lower your momentum if you’re a good guy. After the match, RAW’s Chris Jericho delivers your hundredth beatdown. Rob Van Dam gets on the mike and enjoys every second of yet another thrashing. Jericho then admits he was the one that ran down Teddy Long. After the beatdown you have a choice: join Rob Van Dam and ECW or remain loyal to the Smackdown! brand. If you side the ECW then fight Big Show in a bar then team up with RVD against Booker T and Big Show. Vince comes out and says you still must battle RVD...but can he tell ECW what to do? Nope but RVD doesn’t mind complying and knocks you over the head with the spray painted belt. Battle RVD at Wrestlemania 21 in a hardcore match. Anything goes! Get some sweet revenge against RVD with some weapons action. Maintain aggressive pressure and built your momentum meter for a finishing move. Win the match and give RVD a taste of his own medicine. Completing Smackdown rewards the Rock, unlocks Hollywood Hogan for purchase and gives $10,000 cash. Complete both the RAW and Smackdown seasons and unlock unlimited experience points to use on all of your created superstar’s attributes. The Road to Wrestlemania plays out differently if it’s John Cena as current champion. You begin the storyline in line for a championship match at the upcoming Wrestlemania 21. As the winner of the Royal Rumble you can challenge Smackdown champion John Cena or even jump to RAW and challenge Triple H for RAW’s title. Theodore Long appears--he’s finally returned to Smackdown. Before he was ran over and knocked out, Teddy Long saw his attacker...he fingers you! And shockingly you did do it! You claim without Teddy to hold you back you climbed the Smackdown ladder and earned the title shot by winning the Royal Rumble. Teddy has started a personal crusade to ensure you don’t make it to Wrestlemania and your title match. His plan: book you in the toughest matches possible! First up is a parking lot brawl against Eddie Guerrero. You’ve likely done some brawls by this point. Anything goes so work Eddie over with weapons and use the environment for special grapples and damage. Teddy Long’s crusade continues with a steel cage match against JBL. Meanwhile on RAW, Triple H and Chris Jericho aren’t happy about you potentially challenging for the RAW title. Jericho feels he’s the number one contender. Next match you face Kurt Angle with special referee John Cena. At No Way Out the entire feuds collide in a three on one handicap match Hell in a Cell against Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, and John Cena. But before the main event, Latino Heat gets knocked out in the locker room. The announcers think it was likely you...you do have a history of knocking people out. As you, Angle, and Cena gather for the match, Triple H enters the arena with sledgehammer in hand. He attacked Guerrero and joins you for the match: it’s now a tornado tag! You can utilize the cell or ignore it. Being a tornado tag, you should have an easier time getting a pin as Triple H should be able to handle his own man most of the time. Look to score a finisher against an opponent when Triple H is currently working over his own man so you can try and go for the pin uninterrupted. RAW and Smackdown collide along the road to Wrestlemania. You even team up with Triple H! Triple H and Chris Jericho come to Smackdown to lobby for you! Of course what that means is the two superstars lobby that you remain on Smackdown and face off against Cena at Wrestlemania. Teddy forms a six-man tag match with you, Triple H, and Chris Jericho against Cena, Angle, and JBL. It’s a crossbrand tag match! Smackdown beats up RAW as you escape the ring. Time to choose: battle Cena or Triple H? If you stick on Smackdown, Teddy Long has one trick up his sleeve: win three matches, including grabbing a briefcase on a ladder match and win the opportunity to choose your type of match at Wrestlemania. First, submission vs. Kurt Angle then first blood vs. JBL then ladder against Eddie Guerrero. Whew! You’ve likely done all these matches before so follow the same strategies. Win the match against John Cena and Theodore Long must reluctantly hand you the WWE Championship belt. As he does, Cena tries to sneak up behind you. But you dodge and Cena collides with Teddy Long then you knock out Cena with the belt. Cue the confetti--you’re the champ! Chapter 5: Challenge Mode The challenge mode is a feature carried over from last year’s Smackdown vs. RAW. These challenges include specific tasks to complete in exhibition mode. You can view the specifics of any of the amateur and rising star challenges by entering the Locker Room section and finding the Challenge Mode on the desk. Amateur Challenges The following table reveals all amateur challenges, rewards, descriptions, and requirements. These challenges are certainly aptly named as they can be completed on any difficulty level, specifically easy. You also have free reign over wrestler selection. Take advantage of this freedom by using the best overall superstars against weaker competitors. Complete the amateur challenges to unlock the Wrestlemania 21 arena and the amateur trophy.
