Simplicity
Easy to install
Fantini Cosmi offers a complete system consisting of built-in products and
DIN rail installations. Every module can be easily fit into the main electrical
boards or they can be decentralized into the built in electrical boxes.
MiA is perfectly compatible with all domestic series currently in the trade,
with the advantage of leaving the end user the freedom of choose the style
you want in your home.
MiA modules
MiA system is flexible and expandable allowing both simple and large

installations. It’s made of a set of devices that communicate with each
other by mean of a BUS consisting of 3 common wires with a maximum
length of 2 Km. By controlling up to 254 modules, it allows you to manage
2,032 outlets, 2,286 inputs and 99 temperature zones.
The bus can be built by using different architectural topologies, free, tree or

star, allowing you to connect all devices by following the typical installation
methods. It doesn’t need a central managing unit allowing the reduction of
installation costs.
The proprietary communication protocol is designed to simplify all the
configurating operations and to make it simple for the installer.

Easy configuration
The configuration of MiA can be made via PC using the software MiA-MAKE
and MIA-EDITOR.
MiA-MAKE
The configuration of a system is performed with the software MiA-MAKE available

MiA-EDITOR
MiA-Editor is the software for customization,
configuration and graphics
supervision, thanks to which the end user can manage its home automation system
by its own.
The configuration can be done in a short time thanks to a simple graphical interface
with which it will be easy to recreate the home interiors. The software in fact has
a library of icons and objects ready to use (eg thermostats, room sensors, lights,
blinds, awnings, alarms, etc ..). In this way the installer will only need to place them
directly on the plan or on the photo of the room, thus providing the user a custom
view of his house.

Easy to use
MiA is simple to manage and control: the supervision system MiA-SMART allows you to easily interact with your MiA home
automation system simply through Smartphone, Tablet, PC or Web TV.
MiA-SMART
MiA-Smart is a Web Server device that allows the user to interact with his home automation system through the pictures of the
rooms. It is possible to enter the floor plans or photos of the rooms to control and display the chosen environment with a click.
The whole family can manage and control the home automation system.
MiA-Smart has two different display modes: small icons ideal for devices such as Smartphones or graphical maps for devices
such as Tablets or PC. The graphical interface is extremely intuitive and has been designed to allow the user to control the entire
system independently and without the need of studying complicated technical manuals. Scenarios can be created by the users
themselves according to their needs. Fantini Cosmi offers 3 types of web-server for different types of systems: MiA-Smart, MiA
Smart + and MiA-Smart PRO.

What I can control
Ambient temperature
MiA solves the problem of controlling the temperature in your home. Fantini Cosmi thermostats and temperature
probes in the home create an atmosphere of comfort and well-being with substantial energy savings. A large
number of combinations are at your choice: integrated heating and cooling, automatic system control with
alarm signals such has malfunctions of the heating or cooling system or too low ambient temperature.
Scenarios
Thanks to the scenarios you can program the entire system according to your habits, by mean of a unique and
immediate command, a series of actions that would otherwise be operated separately. Through the graphical
interface the users can create scenarios according to their needs, interacting with awnings, blinds, light and
temperature levels. Simple or complex scenarios can be programmed and set by the user to be enable at any
time.
The system involves the construction of two types of scenarios, those executable by the push buttons of the
system and those provided by the supervisory system. The scenarios to be controlled by mean of push buttons
are fixed and they are set by the installer during the first configuration of the system and can not be modified
by the end user. Those made with the supervision system can always be modified by the user at any time.

Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery
The mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery when integrated with MiA automatically adjusts the air
flow rate to different environmental conditions and / or to the selected scenarios by ensuring the best comfort.
Lighting
MiA, with a simple gesture, allows you to manage and control all the lighting of the house either automatically
or from anywhere you are through the internet, thus simulating the presence of people in the home or by
operating the automatic shutdown of the lights after an intrusion alarm.
Music
Thanks to media control, MiA allows you to listen to your personal playlist of MP3. With the play - stop - volume
controls it allows you to listen to your favourite songs and personalize your playlist.
Alarms
MiA allows you to control any type of electrical system in your home, greatly reducing domestic risks. Thanks to
specific sensors, the user will be notified in case of gas leakages, smoke, electrical overload, lack of electricity,
flooding etc. Alarm messages can be displayed on the supervision system with graphical icons or alternatively
can be notified by email or text messages.
Home appliances
Simultaneous use of home appliances specially those ones with high power consumption can leave you in the
dark. MiA prevents electrical overloads during the use of several home appliances at the same time: a specific
module will temporarily disconnect, one by one, the home appliances with a preset priority order.

IP Cameras
MiA manages IP cameras and allows you to keep under control the access and happening in your home. Through
its LAN / WiFi network you can view camera images directly from MiA-Smart.
Irrigation
MiA also manages the irrigation of gardens and terraces. You can program the starting time on a weekly base
by differentiating the areas of intervention.
Timer
With MiA it is possible to program the activation of different scenarios and any other device connected to the
system. The user has complete freedom of programming it by creating events with daily, weekly and monthly
activations.
Awnings and roller shutters
All the awnings and roller shutters of the house can be operated individually or in groups. MiA allows automatic
closure of electric roller shutters and awnings in case of rain or strong wind. Awnings and roller shutters can be
controlled individually or in groups, through push buttons connected to inputs on the bus system.

This function allows you to activate multiple functions with a single command, for example, you can turn off simultaneously all house
lights, set the economy or comfort temperature level , activate the closing or opening of the blinds and shutters, etc..
LIGHTING
With a simple gesture MiA allows you to control the switching on and off of each lamp or luminaries, also adjusting the light
intensity to your wish.

Thanks to MiA-SMART, from a single graphical interface you can play your favourite mp3 tracks, placing them in scenarios or
playing them at fixed times of the day.
HOME APPLIANCES
MiA prevents electric overloads during the multiple use of home appliances. A specific module will temporarily disconnect the
home appliances according to the set priorities.

 ODD98 is a module designed for low power applications where many relays are required in a small space.
 The inputs can be connected to the push buttons or technical alarms.
 The outputs are normally open and are ideal for controlling small resistive loads or slightly inductive as solenoid
valves, motors for shutters and contactors.
 To control lighting it is necessary to interpose contactors with adequate power. The relays are rated 6A max with

On the front panel there are 8 push buttons for outputs activation.
Due to its small size, only 5 DIN modules, it can be easily installed in any switchboard.

Module for wind, sun and rain detection
 ODAMETEO detects the wind speed, the outdoor brightness and rain.
 When the set threshold is exceeded, for example in the case of strong wind or rain, the module will close the
blinds. When the sun rises or sets the light sensor will automatically open / close the awnings and turn on /
off the lights of the garden.
 The module does not have own outputs and controls the awnings by mean of remote relays present on the bus.

Module for temperature control
 ODD20S allows the temperature control.
 It is equipped with 1 input for ODS T01 temperature sensor connection and controls the zone valves through
the relay outputs on the bus.
 It can control floor heating systems and radiators.
 It has an automatic temperature control function that maintains the set temperature even in case of lack of a
supervisory system.

 ODAL2 is the most important part of the system as it provides the 24VDC power supply to all modules of the
system by BUS.
 The module delivers up to 2A current and if necessary it can be connected in parallel to more power supplies.
 The power supply has a resettable overload protection and the status is indicated by LEDs on the front cover as
well as by BUS on the supervision.
 On the front panel RJ11 plug is present to allow data transfer through ODUSB module that by connecting it to
the PC allows the system configuration.
 ODAL1 module, can be used to set simple automations such as the roller shutters.
 ODAL1 is also the spare for the power supply included in the automation shutters KIT ODK01T. It cannot be
used in other applications as it is not supervised and not suitable for connection in parallel with other power
sources of the Bus.

Before installing the devices on the system it is necessary to address them
by mean of a number from 1 to 254. This operation is very important since
it allows the identification of the device on the bus and the link creation
between the different modules that are installed.

Connect the devices to the system by placing them in the electrical boards

or in junction boxes depending on the desired type of automation (lighting

It is important to connect properly the inputs and the outputs to avoid
undesired activations or malfunctions. Proceed as follows:

Never exceed the maximum length of the connecting wires indicated

the data sheets of each product;

Do not exceed the output load considering that some lighting systems

like fluorescent and electronic bulbs including led metal halide and
others) have a current peak for a few milliseconds that can be more
than twenty times the normal current absorption. Current peaks can
seriously damage the relay contacts creating malfunctions. In order to
avoid such problems it is important to use devices with power relays
that can withstand current peaks up to 120 amps such as ODD08,
ODD532 and ODD532R.
For a proper device connection a BUS cable is necessary. MiA requires only
a 3-pole cable, Fantini Cosmi recommends the use of type FROR 300/500
(ex. 3 x 0.5 mm²) cables. It is also important to pay attention to the following:

“Star” type
Do not use shielded cables with capacity between individual conductors
greater than 120 pF / m;

The section of every wire must have as characteristics those ones able
to prevent any voltage drop;

The bus can be installed in the desired architecture, tree or star type

without the need of any termination resistance and avoiding ring
closures;

The maximum allow length of the bus is 2 Km and should include every
derivation.

Install an adequate number of power supplies in order to grant a proper
power supply to the different devices.

The number of the necessary power supplies can be calculated by counting
the maximum power consumption indicated on the technical specifications
of every device.

The power supplies are ideal to design redundant systems with features of
high reliability, such as the possibility of parallel connection to increase the

current capacity and simultaneously ensure continuity of operation.
A self-diagnostics board allows proper operation and notifies any power
supply fault by bus.
In order to take advantage of all the features mentioned above and properly
install the power supply it is necessary to respect the following indications:

The system must be equipped with at least two power supplies parallel
connected;

The power supply should be installed in electrical boards with proper
ventilation preferably in the lower part, leaving an empty space of 1 DIN
module between them and every other installed equipment;

In case of several power supplies are installed it would be ideal to
install them in different electrical boards to better balance the power
consumption and improve heat dissipation;

Proceed with the configuration of MiA system with the software MiAMake
by pairing the different devices. The system layout can be saved as a file
for future reference or modification.

Connect MiA-SMART to the local LAN and configure it by mean of the software
MiA-EDITOR. Mia-EDITOR allows to include the house plan and pictures to
create / adapt the supervision according to the end-user’s needs.

Once all the previous steps have been completed your MiA home automation
system is ready for use and can be easily managed with your smartphone,
Tablet, PC or WebTV.
