What is a Heat Pipe?
A heat pipe is a simple device that can transfer heat from
one point to another without having to use an external
power supply. It is a sealed tube that has been partially
filled with a working fluid. In HVAC applications, this fluid
is refrigerant.
The sealed refrigerant - which will boil under low-grade
heat - absorbs heat from the warm return air such as in an
air-conditioning system and vaporizes inside the tube. The
vapor then travels to the other end of the heat pipe (the
high end), which is placed in the stream of cold air that is
produced by the air conditioner.
The heat that was absorbed from the warm air at the low end
is now transferred from the refrigerant>s vapor through the
pipe>s wall into the cool supply air. This loss of heat causes
the vapor inside the tube to condense back into a fluid. The
condensed refrigerant then travels by gravity to the low end
of the heat pipe where it begins the cycle all over again.

fixing of fin supports to pressure testing as site.

Serck manufacture marine condensers with ferrous
and non ferrous tubes, low fin tubes, fin block condensers from our stock tubes. We stock a wide range
of plates with thickness ranging from ½” to 2” in marine naval brass which helps us to manufacture marine condenser within a week time.
Re-tubing
We have number of teams who are fully equipped to
undertake all types of re-tubing assignments, whether the vessel is alongside, as a riding squad or in one
of our dedicated workshops. Tubes can be supplied
from our large and comprehensive stock of ferrous
or non-ferrous tubes.

Manufacture of Marine Charge Air Coolers
Serck manufacture and supply complete range of
charge air coolers for all applications in Marine industry. Serck have a comprehensive data base of Main Engine Charge Air Coolers featuring all the main manufacturers including B&W, MAN etc. From this data base
we are able to manufacture a complete new unit and
have it shipped to wherever your vessel is usually in
5-7 days upon confirmation of drawing.
Serck manufacture marine charge air coolers with sizes varying from 3/8” ½”, 5/8” ¾” and 1” with Fin Per Inch
from 8 – 20 depending upon the design. We can go on
board to take manufacturing drawings of charge air
coolers and manufacture as per sample upon taking
dimensions in 6 days time.
Alternatively, a less expensive option is for us to reblock (Fin and tube element) your cooler utilizing the
existing tube sheets and side frame, depending upon
the suitability of tube pitch.
Marine Charge Air Cooler Service
in a vibrosonic tank for a certain period depending
upon the inspection of coolers and cleaned. The coolers are weighed prior to, and after, cleaning to demonstrate how much congealed oil and dirt has been
removed during the cleaning process; differentials of
20 – 30 kg are common.
Tube Liners and Inserts
We stock and install a range of bespoke liners specifically for marine CAC. Leaking and plugged tubes can
be restored fully operational.
Air Cooler Restoration Process
Most of the Charge Air Coolers have heavily blocked
tubes with calcium sulfate and cannot be easily water drill. Serck is the only company in the Middle East
has special equipment to water jet tubes at approx
30,000psi and open tubes without damaging the
bare tube. Provided the fins are of an acceptable
standard Serck is able to restore most marine CAC to
perform at 98% of the original design duty.
Return your condensers to their maximum operating
performance by having a Serck working team carry
out a full clean. Options include:
* High Pressure water lancing
* Rotary wire brush
* Brush shooting
* Water drilling (for totally blocked tubes)
* Water jetting at approx 30,000 psi to open tubes

Plate Heat Exchangers (PHE)
PHE is a type of heat exchanger that uses metal plates
to transfer heat between two fluids. This has a major
advantage over conventional heat exchangers, in that
the fluids are exposed to a much greater surface area
therefore the size of the unit is much smaller than a
conventional shell and tube.
New Units
Serck are able to supply many different configurations
of PHE as per parameters. Plate packs are available in
AISI 304, 316 stainless and titanium, with gaskets in
nitrile, EPDM or viton. Let us know your required inlet
and outlet temperatures, for both process and cooling medium , fluid types and flow rates along with
working pressures, capacity and we can quickly size
your unit and quote accordingly.

types of Heat Exchanger related work from a complete
re-tube of Desalination unit to a performance enhancing chemical clean. Serck are specialized in undertaking complete/partial re-tubing of desalination units
with tight deadlines and have attained 100% success

Protective Coatings
Serck provide protective and restorative coatings on
heat-exchangers, tube sheets, channel heads, tanks
and water boxes - extending the units life cycle and
avoiding unnecessary costly repairs and shut downs.
The unique tube lining coating system protects the
tubes in and outlets and can also be applied to the
full tube length. The system will also seal any small
tube leaks. It supersedes the insert fixing technology
and gives better performance. The systems can be
applied on-site or at Serck facilities.
Coating are applied on Sea Water Condensers, Desalination plants, FWG Condensers to protect from corrosion and erosion
Re-Gasketing
Serck stock a wide range of gaskets for fast moving
PHE’s from most manufactures and can complete and
re-gasketing job within a week. We have specialized
team to go on board/site and re-gasket if need be.
Cleaning and Servicing
Serck can offer several options for cleaning or servicing your PHE. We can clean in place by circulating
suitable chemical cleaners through the unit. Alternatively the unit can be dismantled, plates cleaned and
checked for cracks or pin hole leaks by Light Box inspection then reassembled with new gaskets.
