Each year, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival presents world and US
premiere screenings to over 90,000 participants.
SBIFF has over 25,000 active e-mail and social media subscribers who receive regular
updates about SBIFF activities throughout the year via the Festival’s active social
media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube - all with an
international reach.
Festival attendees have the opportunity to get up close and personal with their
favorite stars at intimate industry panel discussions, seminars, children’s education
programs, and red carpet Celebrity Tribute events. Most recently, the Festival hosted
Academy Award® nominees and winners, including: Michael Keaton, Steve Carrell,
Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke, Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, J.K. Simmons, and
Rosamund Pike.

The 30th Santa Barbara International Film Festival generated more than 40 billion
worldwide impressions through TV, print, radio, and online press.
The timing of the Festival, after the Oscar® nominees are announced and just weeks
prior to the Academy Awards® ceremony, makes SBIFF a high-profile stop for
celebrities, filmmakers, and media.
Over 300 international press covered the Festival and featured interviews and

Now in its 30th year, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, presented by UGG
Australia and supported by Los Angeles Confidential, kicked off January 27 and extended
through February 7, 2015 in Downtown Santa Barbara. The festival offered more than 200
films, tributes, and symposiums—showcasing the best in
independent and international cinema.

Sunday night at 8:00, the Arlington Theatre filled right up for all to see Chadwick
Boseman ("Get On Up"), Ellar Coltrane ("Boyhood"), Logan Lerman ("Fury"),
David Oyelowo ("Selma"), Rosamund Pike ("Gone Girl"), J.K. Simmons
("Whiplash"), and Jenny Slate ("Obvious Child") receive the Virtuosos Award.
The Virtuosos Award recognizes a group of actors who have distinguished themselves through performances in film this past year.

Santa Barbara International Film Festival delivers an impressive programming slate
for unforgettable American independent cinema alongside many of the best films
from every corner of the globe.
SBIFF is characterized by competitive selection of international and Independent
cinema, creative sidebars that reflect the community, and shorts programs for
live-action, animation and documentary.
Festival goers have an opportunity to meet our industry guests – including
cinematographers, directors, producers and talent – up close and participate in
intimate Q&A sessions following the screenings of their films.

TRIBUTES
Inside the historic Arlington Theatre, SBIFF tributes are an all-star experience. Two
thousand guests fill the theatre and are treated to an hour and a half of intimate
conversation with their favorite Hollywood icon.
Complete with clips and montages from their body of work, the evening
culminates with an award presentation by a special guest to applaud their great
achievements in film.

AND SEMINARS
In Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s highly acclaimed Panel Series,
industry professionals come together for lively, informative and revealing panel
discussions. The panels feature the current year’s Oscar nominated writers,
directors, and producers as well as studio executives.
Launched in 2014, the free Seminar Series provides guests an opportunity to hear
discussions about current topics between industry professionals. The intimate
setting in the UGG Australia Pavilion provides an opportunity for guests to
interact with panelists following the seminars.

Education is at the heart of our mission. Our programs instill film appreciation and
celebrate the art of storytelling. At Santa Barbara International Film Festival, we are
dedicated to providing opportunities for young people that:

inspire and nurture self-confidence;
•
motivate big thinking; and
•
encourage individuality while fostering teamwork.
Our goal is to promote and improve student achievement and life skills by
providing access to film studies throughout an individual’s education – we touch the
lives of kids from grade school through college.
More than 13,000 people participated in one of SBIFF’s free education and
outreach programs during the 2015 Festival.
