GO GREEN IN 2015 £25 pays for a new school uniform for the child of someone struggling to make ends meet £50 will pay for a care alarm to be installed for an elderly or disabled client Perennial is the only UK charity dedicated to helping all horticulturists and their families in times of crisis. HortAid is our year-round fundraising campaign that calls on the UK horticultural community and all those who love gardens and green spaces to help those who keep Britain beautiful. £150 will pay for a TV licence for a client whose only companion is the TV £200 pays for 10 sessions at a nursery for a baby whose parent is critically ill Go Green for HortAid takes place from 1 – 14 September and is your chance to grasp the nettle and green-up for Perennial. In 2014 Go Green raised over £10,000 and this year we’d like to raise even more! Anything goes and we’ll support you every step of the way so have a look at how others have done it, sign up to one of our events or create your very own Go Green initiative to raise money for horticulturists. £500 will help furnish a flat for someone who was previously homeless £750 pays the removal fees for a client fleeing domestic violence £1,000 Perennial is often described as a ‘lifeline’ by the people we help. Your fundraising will make a real and lasting difference to the lives of people living here in the UK and every penny counts. Will buy a new boiler for a family living without hot water or heating Perennial was there for John Perennial helped my family when my Dad became ill and all the family went through a difficult time. Set at Swires Farm in Dorking, the legendary Nuts Challenge course has more than 100 obstacles over a 7km course. Registration Fee: £44.99 Pledge to raise £100 in sponsorship Intrepid Perennial thrill-seekers leapt out of an aeroplane on 2 May 2015 to raise over £4,200 for Perennial! Host a cocktail party There’s a gym outside your window and dress to impress! Ask friends and neighbours if they need a hand in their garden in exchange for a donation to Perennial and get fit in the process! ANYTHING GOES Get recycling Donate your old mobile phones, inkjet cartridges and any unwanted jewellery to Perennial via Recycle 4 Charity and Recyling for Good Causes ...in ‘Go Green’ fortnight Walk, run or cycle to work for a week Hold a cake sale or a tea party in the office, or with your friends Wear green makeup nail polish, lipstick, complete with a green wig (or hair dye) – for the day Wear green to work ...and if that’s not unusual (given many horticulturists wear green) how about a green onesie, morphsuit, green pyjamas or even an Incredible Hulk costume for the day?! Get your colleagues involved and create a gunge tank at work Everyone pays for a vote and the one with the most gets the gunge! (Will the boss be gunged?) Dare to go green in as funny a way as possible (use #daretogogreen on Twitter) and nominate a friend to join you How many people can you join together to GO GREEN for HortAid… Donate the money you save in transport costs to Perennial AND get sponsored by colleagues to boot! Hold a plant sale By holding a plant sale outside your house – set up an honesty box with a sign about Perennial asking for donations Save on fuel and carbon emissions for the day Use manual equipment instead of petrol power for the day and get sponsored for your efforts Do you look after a green space? Could you arrange for a charity match to be played one evening? A great family event and brilliant fundraiser…. SET UP a JustGiving fundraising page to enable people to easily and securely donate to Perennial. Include a short intro about why you are fundraising for us and do include photos if you have them. TELL US what you’re planning so we can help you promote the event on social media. Email hortaid@perennial.org.uk or call 0800 093 8510 EMAIL your friends, family and work colleagues before the event to encourage them to donate – include a link to your JustGiving page – or pledge to attend GET SOCIAL and start to promote your event on your social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc to encourage your contacts to support you or attend your event TAKE PHOTOS OR SHORT VIDEOS of any training or preparation you are doing for the event – these are great to share on social media and on your JustGiving page, and if you send them to us, we can use them to!
