On Thursday, March 24 the Norfolk Arts Centre will hold its annual
SoupART Bowls event. Now in its 8th year, SoupART Bowls is a
“friend-raising” event that brings together and highlights the creativity of the
visual and culinary arts in Norfolk County in support of children and youth
programs at the NAC. With the purchase of a ticket patrons get to select
an original ceramic bowl made by a member of the Norfolk Potters’ Guild,
receive a SoupART Bowls souvenir cookbook that features recipes from
the participating establishments and the chance to spend a leisurely
evening wandering through the galleries enjoying soups from some of
Norfolk County’s finest restaurants.
Tickets for this event are $30 (10% discount for NAC members).
MADE IN NORFOLK SHOW AND SALE
10
The Norfolk Arts Centre is pleased to present the 7th annual Made in
Norfolk Show and Sale from November 1 to 30, Monday to Saturday,
9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For the month of November the Norfolk Arts Centre
will turn the front room into a gift shop that features handcrafted, original
work by Norfolk County artists and artisans. This event includes a wide
range of unique, high-quality items priced between $5 and $200. From
pottery to jewellery to mittens, Made in Norfolk has something for everyone.
Made in Norfolk Show & Sale showcases the talents of Norfolk County artists
and artisans by making original fine art and artisanal crafts accessible to the
broader community.
11
Funds raised from SoupART Bowls supports the annual Summer
Arts Adventure program which reaches 200 children ages 4 - 16
through creative programming. These funds assist in the hiring of
professional instructors who are recent graduates in visual arts,
animation, art therapy and arts education. Last year the Norfolk
Arts Centre created 66 hours of instructional courses that ranged
from concept art for video games, book-making, textiles, puppetry
and traditional fine art techniques. By widening the opportunities
for youth and children to explore their creativity, we are building
cultural opportunities for Norfolk youth.
