How the Grand Prix Works
The Grand Prix Pool Tour is a year-long series of traveling 8-Ball tournaments that lead up to a
championship tournament at the end of the year. You can play in just one or you can follow the tour.
Players earn points based upon participation and performance at the monthly tournaments. Win a
tournament and you are automatically qualified for the championship. In addition, the top point earners
in each skill level based upon participation will be invited to the championship tournament. So, the
more often you play and the better your performance the greater the likelihood you will qualify for the
championship. Here is the tentative schedule for the rest of this year:

Frequently Asked Questions:
• Who can participate? – Only active APA members in the areas run by Mile High Pool Leagues
(Peggy LeBlanc), Denver Metro APA (Chuck Rooney) and Northern Colorado APA (Kevin
Leivonen). “Active” means you are currently playing on a team at the time of each tournament.
Players must have a minimum of six 8-Ball or six 9-Ball scores in their player record to qualify.
• Do I have to pre-register and pay? – Yes. At the bottom of each flier will be a chit to register for
the monthly tournament. Tear off the chit, fill it out and place the chit and your entry and green
fees in the money envelope along with your weekly league fees.
• Will the tournaments be bracketed? – Yes. You will play other players at or near your skill level
for as long as possible.
• Is there prize money? – Yes. The entry fees for the monthly tournaments will be 100% payout for
prize money. The host locations will contribute to the championship tournament one-third of the
the entry fees paid to their monthly tournament. This pot will be used to pay for trophies and
payout prize money for the championship tournament.
• Will there be a limit on the number of players in the tournaments? – The size of the tournaments
will depend on the host locations. We plan to have no less than 64 players at each tournament.
The championship tournament will be limited to the top 64 player and ties.
