3M™ Parking Sign Controller Manual Version 1 Safety Notice WARNING! Before performing any equipment maintenance or repair, set the equipment power to OFF, set the main circuit breaker to OFF, and lockout and tag the main circuit breaker; failure to follow this warning can result in injury or death to personnel and damage to equipment. Equipment Safety ■ Inspection—frequently inspect the equipment to ensure that it is operating properly. ■ Maintenance—ensure that maintenance is performed by an authorized technician at least twice a year. System Safety ■ Vibrant Colors—use vibrant colors on parking equipment at entrance and exit lanes, to make it more ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ visible to patrons. Signage—provide clear signage on the roadway and other equipment, to assist patrons in easily and safely moving through the facility. Equipment Warnings—maintain manufacturer’s warning stickers on gate arms and other equipment, to ensure that operators and patrons are aware of potential hazards. Safety Devices—encourage the use of safety devices (e.g., buzzers, flashing lights), to ensure that operators and patrons are alerted to potential hazards. Sidewalks—should be parallel to entrance and exit lanes, to eliminate the need for pedestrians to cross the lanes. This decreases the risk of pedestrian accidents in the lanes. Monitor Lanes—operators must monitor remote entrance and exit lanes, to be aware of patron activity in these areas, especially when raising and lowering gates or operating other remote equipment. Icons (Pictograms) 3M strongly recommends the use of universally identifiable icons (pictograms), for all entrance and exit lanes, roadways, posts, and walls. Controller Manual Chapter 1: Overview of the Sign Controller Overview of Functionality The 3M Sign Controller works in conjunction with the ScanNet Central Management System in a parking facility to communicate vehicle counts and the “full” condition to Signal-Tech and Daktronics (3400 and 3020 Series) vehicle count signs. ScanNet receives counts from gates and ramp controllers in a parking facility and tracks the counts in the Counts System. ScanNet sends counts to the Sign Controller, which then sends the counts to the sign to display. When a count for a lot or area is full, ScanNet communicates the full condition to the Sign Controller, which then sends it to the sign, and the sign displays “FULL.” ScanNet, along with the Sign Controller, can support a combination of signs and sign lines up to 255. For example, one Sign Controller may operate 25 signs with 10 lines each. The sign must be communicating to ScanNet. One Sign Controller cannot support both Signal-Tech and Daktronics signs. Note: The Sign Controller is compatible only with ScanNet versions 5.1.6 and later and 6.0.1 and later. In addition to this standard functionality, 3M offers two Sign Controller packages that can control additional static signs. When a lot or area is full, the “full” condition can be communicated to static signs, such as those displaying “Full” and “Closed” messages or arrows diverting traffic. See “Configuring the Sign Controller in ScanNet,” page 18, for more information about how signs can be configured. The Sign Controller is available in these three packages: ■ Dynamic Sign Package Only. Communicates with 255 signs/lines to display counts and the “full” condition when the count is full. ■ Dynamic Sign Package with 4 Static Sign Relays. Communicates with 255 signs/lines to display counts and the “full” condition when the count is full. In addition, communicates with up to four static signs using the full condition from the first four lines. ■ Dynamic Sign Package with 8 Static Sign Relays. Can communicate with 255 signs/ lines to display counts and the “full” condition when the count is full. In addition, communicates with up to eight static signs using the full condition from the first eight lines. Note: This manual may reference legacy part numbers and product names. Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Overview of the Sign Controller • 1 Overview of the Sign Controller Components The Sign Controller enclosure is a NEMA type 12 steel enclosure with the following dimensions: 17.25 inches (438 mm) H x 15.25 inches (387 mm) W x 3.4 inches (86 mm) D. The enclosure cover is attached with screws to insure water tightness. Figure 1.1, Figure 1.2, and Figure 1.3 illustrate the enclosure and the Sign Controller components for the three Sign Controllers. The enclosure houses the Controller. The 8-relay sign package has a two Controllers. The relays for the 4- and 8- relay packages are 1-form C contact, rate at 120 VAC at 10A. When this LED is ON, it indicates that power is supplied to the board. ■ Four Output LEDs. Indicates which output has been activated. ■ Communication LEDs. Power Supply Input Figure 1.4 shows the location of the power supply input connection terminals (12-24 VDC). Outputs (J9) Figure 1.4 illustrates the four relay contact outputs. These outputs are used only with the 4- and 8relay Sign Controllers. See “Typical Field Wiring,” page 9, for how these outputs are connected to the relays. ScanNet Communications (J7, RS-422 Port) Figure 1.4 shows the location of the port for ScanNet communications. Firmware updates can be downloaded by running a Flash program which can be obtained from the 3M web site. Refer to “Chapter 4: Updating Firmware for the Sign Controller” for additional information on firmware updates. Overview of Power Requirements The Sign Controller requires a power supply providing a voltage input of 12-24 VDC and consumes 0.5 Amperes, such as the 3M RC2 Power Supply (part no. 75-0302-0540-7). Figure 2.4 shows the location of the DIP switch bank. Refer to Table 2.1 for the value of the DIP switches. Each device on a port controller must have a unique device address. Be sure to select a device address (from 0 to 31) that is not used by another device on the port controller. Terminated (last device on communication line) 1 You must set a unique address for each unit connected to a Port Controller. 2 Possible address ranges from 0 to 31. Each switch has a value when it is opened. The value is zero when closed. To set the device number, add the values of the switches that are opened. All switches closed would represent a device number of zero, while all switches open would indicate a device number of 31 (1+2+4+8+16). You must select the sign type that you are using the Sign Controller with. This is programmable using a PDA. See “Programming the Sign Type,” page 27. Sign Controller Installation Considerations The Sign Controller must not exceed the maximum distance from the power supply as specified in Table 2.2 on page 15. One power supply may be used for up to 10 Sign Controllers or a combination of 10 Sign Controllers and Ramp Controllers. Mount the Sign Controller to surfaces sturdy enough to withstand the weight of the units, securing them at the mounting feet with the appropriate hardware for the application. The maximum length of wire from the Sign Controller to the Power Supply varies depending on the gauge of wire and whether each Sign Controller is connected to the power supply directly, or if multiple Sign Controllers are daisy-chained to the power supply. Table 2.2 gives the stranded wire run specification, and Figure 2.5 and Figure 2.6 illustrates this for the two different ways of wiring the Sign Controller to the power supply. You can configure a combination of signs and sign lines up to 255. In the Lot Sign Controller Configuration in ScanNet, you must configure the following for each line of the sign: ■ Differential Name: either Total, Monthly, or Transient, depending on the type of count to be reported on the line. ■ Count Name: either Vacancy, to count the number of spaces available; or Occupancy, to count the number of spaces occupied. If your Sign Controller has four or eight additional relays for static signs, they will be triggered by the counts on the first four or eight lines you configure. In order to program the device using a PDA, you must install the Sign Controller Programming Utility onto your PDA, and the PDA must be connected to the device. The configuration data is sent to the device and stored in the device’s battery backed RAM. PDA Minimum Requirements The PDA device that you use to program the Sign Controller must meet the following minimum requirements: ■ 8 MB internal memory or higher ■ Palm OS® Software v4.0 or higher (This has been tested by 3M for compatibility; other operating systems may be used if found to be compatible.) ■ Capability to synchronize data between the PDA and a PC, for the installation of the Sign Controller Programming Utility. For example, if you are using a Palm PDA, you will use the Palm™ Desktop software with HotSync® Manager and a HotSync cradle. ■ Infrared (IR) port for communication to the Sign Controller. Palm Handheld models M125, M500, Zire, and Tungsten E have been tested with the Sign Controller for compatibility. Other Palm models and other PDA brands may also be used if found to be compatible. For instructions on setting up and performing basic tasks on your PDA, refer to the user manual that came with the PDA. This manual does not provide information about performing tasks on your PDA and with PDA desktop software, other than those that relate to interfacing with the Sign Controller. Installing the Sign Controller Programming Utility To install the Sign Controller Programming Utility, follow these steps: 1. Obtain the Sign Controller Programming Utility Program files from the 3M web site, your distributor, or your 3M support technician, and copy the files to your computer. 2. Install the Sign Controller Programming Utility on your PDA following the PDA manufacturer’s instructions for installing software on the PDA. Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Programming Using a PDA • 19 Programming via Infrared Communication Infrared (IR) communication uses the built in infrared transceivers of the PDA and the Sign Controller to transfer information. When communicating with the Sign Controller using infrared communication, you must following these guidelines: ■ Keep the Sign Controller enclosure open. ■ Hold the PDA between 4 and 39 inches (10 centimeters and 1 meter) directly in front of the Sign Controller infrared interface. ■ Keep the path between the two devices clear of obstacles. 20 • Programming Using a PDA 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual Logging On to the Sign Controller Programming Utility To work with the Sign Controller Programming Utility, you must first log on to the application at the PDA. To open the Sign Controller Programming Utility on the PDA, follow these steps: 1. Tap the SignCtrl icon. The Sign Controller Programming Utility splash screen displays briefly. Note: The first time you log on, enter FAPD as the password. Passwords are case-sensitive. 3. Tap OK. The Sign Controller main menu displays. Note: When you log on to the programming utility, “OFFLINE” displays at the top of the screen, indicating the PDA is not yet online with the Sign Controller. 22 • Programming Using a PDA 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual Logging On to the Sign Controller To access programming in the PDA when it is directly connected (either via IR or serial cable) to the Sign Controller, you must log on to the Sign Controller. To log in to the Sign Controller, follow these steps: 1. From the Sign Controller main menu, tap LOGIN. The Password Entry screen displays. 2. Enter the Sign Controller’s password. Note: The default password is FAPD. 3. Tap OK. The Login Successful screen displays, showing you the device application firmware version and the boot firmware version. 4. Tap OK. The word ONLINE displays in the upper right hand corner of the Sign Controller main menu. Note: If no activity occurs after 5 minutes, the system logs you off and you are prompted to reenter the Sign Controller password before you can communicate with the Sign Controller. Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Programming Using a PDA • 23 Setting Passwords Passwords allow you to control who can program and access data contained in the PDA and the Sign Controller. There are two types of passwords in the Sign Controller Programming Utility: ■ Application Password. This password provides access to the Sign Controller Programming Utility. The application password is stored in the PDA. There is one application password per PDA. ■ Sign Controller Password. This password provides access to programming when the PDA is directly connected to the Sign Controller. The Sign Controller password is stored in the Sign Controller. If no activity occurs after 5 minutes, the system will log you off and you will be prompted to re-enter the Sign Controller password before you can communicate with the device. When logged on to the device, the word ONLINE displays in the upper right hand corner of the Sign Controller main menu; when logged off, the word OFFLINE displays. From the Sign Controller main menu, tap COMMANDS. The Commands menu displays. 2. Tap SET PASSWD. The Change Device Password screen displays. 3. Enter the Old Password. 4. Enter the New Password. 5. Enter the new password again in the Verify New Password field. 6. Tap OK. Tap OK. 26 • Programming Using a PDA 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual Programming the Sign Type The Sign Controller communicates with Signal-Tech and Daktronics (3400 and 3020 Series) vehicle count signs. You must select the sign type that you are using with the Sign Controller. One Sign Controller cannot support both Signal-Tech and Daktronics signs. Follow these instructions to set the sign type. Note: In order to program the sign type, you must be online with the Sign Controller. Refer to “Logging On to the Sign Controller,” page 23. 1. From the Sign Controller main menu, tap PROGRAM. The following screen displays. 2. (Optional) If you want to see how the device is currently programmed, tap Get From Device. A program message displays confirming that the data was received successfully. Tap OK. The programming screen with the device’s current programming displays. 3. To select the sign type, tap the drop-down list box on the screen, and tap the appropriate sign type. 4. A program message displays confirming that the data was sent successfully. Tap OK. The programming screen with the device’s programming displays. Note: Be aware that if you send the programming to a Sign Controller, the new programming will replace previous programming in the device. ■ Save the programming to the PDA: Tap Save. A program message displays confirming that the programming has been saved to the PDA. First, you must set the correct time and date on the PDA according to the instructions that came with your PDA. Second, you must set the correct time and date for each of the connected devices. To set the correct time and date for the Sign Controller, follow these steps: 1. From the Sign Controller main menu, tap COMMANDS. The Commands menu displays. 2. Tap Set Clock. Select the appropriate year, month, and day. To select today’s date, tap Today. 5. Tap Current Handheld Time. The Select Time window displays. 6. Select the appropriate time. Tap OK. 7. Tap Done. 30 • Programming Using a PDA 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual Resetting the Sign Controller If you experience problems with the operation of the Sign Controller, you can use the Reset command. This is equivalent to powering the device off and then on again. Resetting the Sign Controller does not erase messages in the device buffer, and it does not normally erase programming. However, when the Sign Controller is reset, RAM is tested for validity. If valid, all data in the RAM is maintained. If the data is not valid, RAM is initialized and the Sign Controller is reset to default parameters. When the Sign Controller is reset, a message displays in the ScanNet System Activity Monitor indicating whether the memory check was with or without error. To reset the Sign Controller, follow these steps: 1. From the Sign Controller main menu, tap COMMANDS. The Commands menu displays. 2. Tap RESET DEVICE. 3. Tap OK. If you need to complete additional programming or commands, you must log in to the Sign Controller again. Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Programming Using a PDA • 31 Initializing the Sign Controller and PDA The Sign Controller maintains all programming information in static battery-backed RAM. If a power failure occurs, the Passport Controller is capable of retaining memory for a minimum of up to one week. When the Sign Controller is reset, or power cycled, RAM is tested for validity. If valid, all data in the RAM is maintained. If the data is not valid, RAM is initialized and the Sign Controller is reset to default parameters. When the Sign Controller is reset, a message displays in the ScanNet System Activity Monitor indicating whether the memory check was with or without error. If you experience problems with the current programming or wish to reprogram the PDA and/or the Sign Controller, you have the option of erasing all programming in memory and initializing the PDA and/or Sign Controller to the default parameters. This option does not erase information in the device’s message buffers. Warning! If you do this, you will overwrite all programmed values in the Sign Controller and/or PDA. To initialize the PDA, Sign Controller, or both using the PDA, follow these steps: 1. From the Sign Controller main menu, tap COMMANDS. The Commands menu displays. 32 • Programming Using a PDA 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual 2. Tap Initialize. A message displays asking which device you would like to initialize. 3. Do one of the following: ■ To initialize the PDA only, tap Palm. ■ To initialize the Sign Controller only, tap SIGNCTRL. ■ To initialize both the PDA and the Sign Controller, tap Both. 4. A program message displays indicating which data has been initialized. 5. Tap OK. 6. If you selected to initialize both the PDA and the Sign Controller, you will be prompted by two program messages. Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Programming Using a PDA • 33 Clearing the Memory The Clear Memory command not only erases programming and restores the factory defaults, just as the Initialize command does, but it also clears extended RAM in the device, which erases all information in the message buffers. If the device has been offline and you do not need to save the messages in the buffer, you can use this command to avoid having the messages in the system when you bring the device back online. When you clear the memory, the Controller returns to the state it was when it was new from the factory. Warning! If you do this, you will overwrite all programmed values and erase message buffers in the Sign Controller. To clear the memory in Sign Controller, follow these steps: 1. From the Sign Controller main menu, tap COMMANDS. The Commands menu displays. 34 • Programming Using a PDA 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual 2. Tap CLEAR MEM. 3. Tap OK. If you need to complete additional programming or commands, you must log in to the Sign Controller again. Disabling the Splash Screen When you select the SignCtrl icon from the PDA menu, a splash screen for the Sign Controller Programming Utility displays. If you choose not to have the splash screen display, you may disable it. To disable the splash screen, follow these steps: Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Programming Using a PDA • 35 1. From the Sign Controller main menu, tap OPTIONS. The Application Options screen displays. 2. Tap the Splash Screen Enable/Disable drop-down list. 3. Tap Disable. 4. Tap OK. 36 • Programming Using a PDA 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual Chapter 4: Updating Firmware for the Sign Controller For many 3M devices, including the Sign Controller, firmware is stored in a Flash memory device on the controller board, allowing you to load or update firmware via a serial or Ethernet connection from a computer with the 3M firmware update program. Before You Start You may update device firmware via a serial connection at the device or via an Ethernet connection at the device. Updating with an Ethernet connection is quicker, usually under 30 seconds, compared to the serial method, which can take up to 7 minutes. Note: You must use a serial connection to update boot software. Information about boot and application software is included in these instructions. For a serial connection, to load firmware to the Sign Controller, you must have the following: ■ Laptop or desktop computer with a serial port ■ RS232 serial cable ■ FlashProgrammer program installed on the computer, available from the 3M web site (instructions included in this chapter) ■ Firmware file, available from the 3M web site For a Ethernet connection, to load firmware to the Sign Controller, you must have the following: ■ Laptop or desktop computer with an Ethernet port ■ Ethernet crossover patch cable ■ FlashProgrammerE program installed on the computer, available from 3M (instructions in this chapter) ■ Firmware flash file, available from the 3M web site or authorized 3M technician Important Information About Firmware Versions Keep the following in mind when updating Sign Controller firmware: The Sign Controller requires both an application flash file and a boot flash file. New boot flash files may not be released as often as new application flash versions, but you must make sure that if a new boot flash file is available when you are updating your application flash that you update the boot flash as well. The boot flash file can only be updated using a serial connection with the original FlashProgrammer program. Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Ch. 9 Updating Firmware for the Sign Controller • 37 Updating Firmware Using a Serial Connection Installing the FlashProgrammer Program The FlashProgrammer program allows you to update firmware on the Sign Controller (and other 3M devices). You must install this program on the computer you will be using to load the firmware to the Sign Controller. If you do not already have this program installed, install it as follows: 1. Obtain the FlashProgrammer Program files from the 3M web site, your distributor, or your 3M support technician, and copy the files to your computer. 2. Double-click the setup.exe file from the folder where you copied the FlashProgrammer files. The following window displays. 3. Click OK. 4. The program will be installed to the C:\Program Files\FlashProgrammer folder. To use this default, click the installation button. Select the program group this application will reside in, and then click Continue. 6. After the program is installed and the above message box displays, click OK. The cable connects to a communications port on the computer and to the J2 CPU DEBUG port on the Sign Controller. Start the FlashProgrammer program by clicking Start>Programs>FlashProgrammer. An introduction window displays and then the following window displays: 3. From the Serial Port menu, click Setup, and make sure that the correct COM port is selected, typically COM 1. 4. From the Options menu, select 68332 Flash Program. 5. Either click the Select File button, or from the File menu, click Select File. IMPORTANT! If the boot software version in the device is not the most current (see “Updating Firmware Using a Serial Connection,” page 38), you must complete steps 5 - 9 twice in order to load two files, both the application software and the boot software. You must attempt to load the boot.flash file first. If that fails, then load the application.flash first. A warning window will display. Make sure you consider it carefully. You must select the correct firmware file for the equipment you want to update, or the device may be inoperative. Click the warning window to close it, and then a window similar to the following will display: Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Ch. 9 Updating Firmware for the Sign Controller • 41 6. Select the desired firmware file. The file must end with the “.flash” extension. Then, click Open. Warning! If you are attempting to update the boot section of the flash memory by choosing a file such as “xxxboot.flash,” you must proceed with caution. If the download process is interrupted in any way, the board will be rendered inoperative. 7. A window will display, confirming your selection. Either click Continue to accept your selection, or click Cancel to return to the Flash Programmer window. 8. After you click Continue, the program will attempt to connect to the device. The message box in the window will display “Connecting...” Once a connection is established, the message box in the window will display “Downloading...” and it will download the selected firmware file. Do not click Cancel or Exit during the download unless absolutely necessary; otherwise, the firmware will not be properly updated. If you do click Cancel or Exit, you must start the procedure again with step 2. If an error occurs during the download, one of the following two error messages will display in the message box in the window: ■ Download Error. An error occurred downloading the file or updating the flash. In this case, click Cancel and start the procedure again at step 2. ■ Error. An error occurred in the connection between the device and the PC. Make sure the cables are connected securely. When the firmware download is complete, the message box in the window will display “Download Complete.” When the download is completed, click Exit to close the FlashProgrammer program. Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Ch. 9 Updating Firmware for the Sign Controller • 43 Updating Firmware Using an Ethernet Connection Although the option to update the Sign Controller over a network is not currently available, you can connect a Sign Controller to a computer using an Ethernet connection between the two. This method is much quicker than using a serial connection. However, to update boot software, you must use a serial connection. Updating the Boot Software First If your Sign Controller boot version must be updated in addition to the application version, you must update the boot version first, using the serial connection method provided earlier in this chapter. If you attempt to update the boot version using the Ethernet method with the FlashProgrammerE program, the Sign Controller will fail. Installing the FlashProgrammerE Program The FlashProgrammerE program allows you to update firmware for 3M devices with an Ethernet connection. You must install this program on the computer you will be using to load the firmware to the Sign Controller. If you do not already have this program installed, install it as follows: 1. Obtain the FlashProgrammerE program from 3M. 2. Copy the FlashProgrammerE.exe file to the computer. Connecting the Sign Controller Connect the Sign Controller to the desktop or laptop computer using a Cat 5 crossover cable connected to the RJ-45 Ethernet Port connection on the Sign Controller. Loading Firmware to the Sign Controller After you have installed the FlashProgrammerE program and the Sign Controller is connected to the computer, follow these steps to load the Sign Controller firmware: 1. Copy the firmware flash file to the hard drive on the computer you are using to load the firmware. 2. Change the computer’s IP address to 192.168.0.2 and subnet mask to 255.255.0.0. If you need to change the IP address and/or subnet mask back to their original settings when you are done updating the firmware, be sure to record the original settings. 3. Restart the computer. 44 • Ch. 9 Updating Firmware for the Sign Controller 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual 4. Start the FlashProgrammerE program by opening the FlashProgrammer.exe file. 5. Click the Single option. Note: The Multiple option is currently not available for the Sign Controller. 6. Enter the device’s IP address as 192.168.0.1 in the Single box. To enter the 1 after the last decimal, either type a period or click the mouse to move there. Note: You must use this device address for all Sign Controller devices. The computer must be configured to see the device at this address. (See step 4.) 7. Click the Select button. 8. Browse to and select the firmware flash file you want to update the device(s) with. Note: If you are updating the boot flash file, you must use the serial connection with the original FlashProgrammer program. You cannot perform this update with the Ethernet connection and the FlashProgrammerE. Sign Controller Manual 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Ch. 9 Updating Firmware for the Sign Controller • 45 The file name displays in the File box. 9. Click the Program button to start the firmware update. If data becomes corrupted before the download takes place, the system aborts the download and displays the message “Device x.x.x.x download CRC failed. Update FAILED!” where x.x.x.x is the IP address of the device. If this happens, attempt the download again. If you have selected a firmware flash file that is invalid for the device, for example: the TD300 firmware file is selected for download to a Sign Controller, a message displays prompting you to cancel the update. If you selected the wrong firmware flash file, cancel the update and select the correct file. When the download is in progress, the word “Idle” changes to “Downloading.” Also, the Current Device box displays the IP address of the device currently being updated, and the message box at the bottom of the window displays the status of the update. When the application finishes updating the device(s), a message box displays indicating the results. 10. Click OK to clear the window. 11. When you are done updating firmware, click Exit. 46 • Ch. 9 Updating Firmware for the Sign Controller 75-0302-1459-9, Version 1 Sign Controller Manual Appendix A: Repairs, Parts, and Ordering Repair Procedure If a problem occurs with a product part, in many cases you can return the part to the Repair Center for repair. All repairs require the following: - Returned Materials Authorization (RMA) form. - Purchase order (PO) number. A PO number is required whether the repair is under warranty or not. To request a repair: 1. Contact Product Support at 877-777-3571; the 3M global number is 512-984-9255. 2. Acquire a PO number from your company. 3. Fill out the RMA form. In addition to the Customer and Product information, be sure to include the following information: - In the Customer PO Number field, enter the PO number assigned by your company. A PO number is required whether the repair is under warranty or not. - If the part is under warranty, enter the original sales order number in the Warranty box. - If the part is no longer under warranty, check the Billable box. - To expedite the repairs, check Yes next to Expedited Service Requested. Note: The cost of expedited service is indicated on the RMA form. 4. E-mail or fax the form to the e-mail address or fax number provided on the bottom of the form. Within 36 hours, you will receive an RMA number from 3M Customer Support. 5. Ship the part to the address indicated on the RMA approval.
