Morial Convention Center New Orleans, Louisiana usa 24.7.2000 25.7.2000 26.7.2000 27.7.2000 www.siggraph.org/s2000/ 28.7.2000 “In addition to the groundbreaking SIGGRAPH perennials like rendering, visual effects, and animation techniques, this year you can also learn about the new entertainment 3D ventures on the Web and in the gaming industry. In the best SIGGRAPH tradition, this year’s conference is going where no other conference has gone before!” Isaac Kerlow The Walt Disney Company “Unlike other conventions, SIGGRAPH has a history of being a conference of ideas as well as an exhibition space for technology.” “It’s not just a computer show anymore. It’s a unique world show, a major mass-media, center-of-it-all kind of thing.” Shoot Magazine The Threshold.com “Emerging Technologies is the one place in the world where new ideas in interactive technologies are presented, played with, and discussed by the research community. That’s where you will experience today what you will be using to interact with computers five years from now.” “SIGGRAPH has a lot to offer 3D professionals. It continues to dazzle and educate attendees and exhibitors alike while keeping pace with the evolving needs of its industry.” Larry Kassonoff “This is the in place to be if you want to dive into the virtual world of what could be, what is, and what ought to be if a computergenerated picture is to make sense of the gazillion data points in the real world.” Electronic Engineering Times 3D Magazine Claudio Pinhanez IBM T.J. Watson Research Center Conference 23-28 July The worldwide computer graphics community convenes in New Orleans. All the ideas that inspire the 21st century’s digital visions. All the people who create and apply those ideas. All the technologies that enable media convergence, 3D adventures, revolutionary tools, and advanced human-machine collaboration. And you. 25-27 July High-tech, hands-on displays and demos. Over 300 exhibitors from five continents. In Startup Park: small, first-time exhibitors that could be the stars of the Exhibition at SIGGRAPH 2005. All the latest computer graphics and interactive techniques hardware, software, and services. And you. Ex hibition “For years, SIGGRAPH has combined art, science, business, and education to create an electric and vital community.” Ed Catmull Pixar Animation Studios “On the SIGGRAPH trade floor, it is not unusual to see tenured computer scientists ogling technical demonstrations by special effects studios. At its heart, SIGGRAPH has always been a shrine to skill.” The New York Times “This is SIGGRAPH...where computer and visual arts collide.” CNN “SIGGRAPH is a show of hard choices and challenged synapses, and we can hardly wait until next year.” Silicon Graphics World “Go to SIGGRAPH 2000! The visual effects fakery looks real, and the real science looks ... well, fake. It’s cool! You’ll learn a ton, make important industry contacts while partying, and see what’s coming down the road next. Get ahead of the curve, get out of the way, or get run over!” Joan Staveley Faust Logic Inc. “SIGGRAPH has always been where the ‘wow’ is. If you go, you will see where the leading edge of people’s imagination is.” John Warnock Adobe Systems, Inc. "The two companies could hardly be more different. One is a multinational corporation’s Bostonbased think tank, the other a West LA entertainment startup. Yet both come to SIGGRAPH with technologies that bring us closer to what some call the Holy Grail of computer-generated imagery: the digital actor."
