Please consider Volunteering for this Event
The Hoffman Estates Police Charitable Foundation will be sponsoring the
13th annual Shop With a Cop event on Saturday, December 8th, 2012.
The organization is hoping to sponsor 50 area children in need this holiday
season, with most of the children being referred to us by the Community
Resource Center, Women In Need Growing Stronger and social workers
from School District 54. The children will be paired up with many Hoffman
Estates Police Officers, as well as officers from South Barrington PD and
Streamwood PD. Streamwood PD is new to the event this year and is
helping our organization to achieve our goal of growing our program to
benefit as many Hoffman Estates children in need as possible.
The event begins with the children and officers shopping at the local Target.
This year’s post shopping portion will take place at the Marriott, between 9:30
– 11:30, where the children will be treated to breakfast, a visit from Santa
where they will be given a Santa gift and a stocking full of goodies. The
children will also be treated to other activities sponsored by Cabela’s and
Target, while at the Marriott. The HEPCF is currently entertaining any
suggestions from local businesses that would like to sponsor an activity or
craft for the children while at the Marriott.

The Building Blocks of Attracting Customers
Please join us in recognizing the
following organizations and
individuals who are celebrating the
anniversary of their membership in the
Chamber during December.
The key to attracting customers is developing a marketing strategy that forms a
solid foundation for your promotional efforts, by implementing advertising, direct
mail, social media and one-to-one sales efforts.

Define your product or service: How is your product or service packaged? What is
it that your customers are really buying? You may be selling web-based software
tools but your clients are buying increased productivity, improved efficiency and
cost savings. What problem does your service solve? What need does your
product meet? What want does it fulfill?

Identify your ideal customer: Everyone or anybody might be a potential client or
customer for your product. However, you probably don’t have the time or money
to market to Everyone or Anybody. Who is your ideal customer? Who does it
make sense for you to spend your time and money promoting your service or
product to? For example: a massage therapist might decide her target market
is a woman with a household income of $75,000 or more who lives in the
Uptown area.
Differentiate yourself from the competition: Even if there are no direct competitors for your service, there is always competition of some kind. Something besides your product is competing for the potential customer’s money. What is it
and why should the potential customer spend his or her money with you instead?
What is your competitive advantage or unique selling proposition?
Find a niche: Is there a customer group that is not currently being served or is not
being served well? Are there customer wants that are not being met? A niche
strategy allows you to focus your marketing efforts and dominate your market,
even if you are a small player.
Develop awareness: It is difficult for a potential customer to buy your product or service if they don’t even know or remember it
exists. Generally a potential customer will have to be exposed to your product 5 to 15 times before they are likely to think of your
product when the need arises. Needs often arise unexpectedly. You must stay in front of your clients and customers consistently
if they are going to remember your product when that need arises.
Build credibility: Not only must clients be aware of your product or service, they also must have a positive disposition toward it.
Potential customers must trust that you will deliver what you say you will. Often, especially with large or risky purchases, you need
to give them the opportunity to sample, touch, or taste the product in some way.
Be Consistent: Be consistent in every way and in everything you do. This includes the look of your business, marketing materials,
the message you deliver, the level of customer service, and the quality of the product. Being consistent is more important than
having the best product. This in part is the reason for the success of chains. Whether you re going to Little Rock, Arkansas or New
York City, if you reserve a room at a Courtyard Marriott you know exactly what you’re going to get.
Maintain Focus: Focus allows for more effective utilization of the scarce resources of time and money. Your promotional budget
will bring you greater return if you use it to promote a single product to a narrowly defined group of customers and if you promote
that same product to that same customer group over a continuous period of time.
Before you develop marketing materials, run an ad, implement a direct mail campaign, join a networking group, start a Facebook
page, add a Twitter or Pinterest account, ask yourself this question, Do I really know who my ideal customers are and not only
what they need but also what they want?
Whether you’re a Fortune 500 company or a one-person shop, to be successful, you must have a plan to attract customers and you
must implement it consistently. However, it doesn't have to cost a fortune and you don’t have to be a creative genius.

I’d like you to know: We treat many things here at

injuries, ingrown nails.
Interesting facts: We always start with
conservative treatment. We utilize the latest
technology available to the podiatric community.
The best business advice I ever heard:
“Information is Power.” The better informed a
patient is, the better we can help them decide on a
good treatment plan.
The best business advice I could give: Patient
care should always be the priority. If you offer
good quality
service, everything else will fall
into place.
My company’s mission statement: At Advanced
Foot & Ankle Centers of Illinois, our priority is to
deliver quality care to informed patients in a comfortable and convenient setting.
The way I plan to participate in the Chamber is:
I would like to help volunteer with Expos.
Why did you join the Chamber? To better be able to
assimilate to and serve in the community.

How long in business: Since 89
Born in: LaJolla, California
Professional background:
Marquette University: undergrad
degree psychology and National
Louis University for graduate
school in education.
I’d like you to know: We are a full service print & marketing
service provider specializing in graphic communications. We
do everything under one roof, from design services, full color
digital printing, offset printing, banner and signs, bindery,
fulfillment, direct mailing and CD/DVD duplication.
Interesting facts: We now incorporate our full line of
marketing services as well. We look to connect our clients to
their clients thru mobile devices, email marketing, e-publishing
along with print campaigns. We call this multi channel
marketing, hitting up audiences from every angle. Helping
clients with their inbound marketing along side their outbound
marketing efforts.
The best business advice I ever heard: Be passionate
about what you do. Passion is contagious, people want to feel
inspired. If you are genuine about wanting to help people and
passionate about what you do, people will want to work with
you.
The best business advice I could give: Make sure you
invest in your brand. You have only moments to make an
impression; the first 10 seconds, the first 10 steps and the first
10 words… make them count. Take the time and effort your
brand deserves to get noticed. It will pay for itself in the long
run. .
My company’s mission statement: With superior technology
and staff commitment and dedication we strive to surpass our
customers’ expectations for customer service, quality,
reliability and value.
The way I plan to participate in the Chamber is: By serving on
committees and attend networking events. We want to be part of
the community and serve as well.
My company joined the Chamber because: To better connect
to businesses in our community. We feel it’s important to keep a
strong local presence.
The next Chamber event I will be attending is: I will be
strutting my stuff on the runway at the Passion for Fashion show
on October 26. I’m excited to be part of this great event!
Chamber committees I serve on: Fashion Show committee
has been a great venue for me to meet other members.
