There are many steps to the priesthood from
initial discernment and application to starting seminary
studies and pastoral placements. Seminarians receive
minor orders while in seminary such as Lector, Acolyte
and Candidacy but the biggest step before priesthood is
Deacon Ordination. Four seminarians: Michael Dion,
Kyle Manglona, Cody Ross and Patrick Sherrard should
be ordained as deacons this coming summer and fall of
2015 with priesthood ordination expected for June,
2016.
Deacon Ordination is the most serious step of
commitment to live the promises of obedience, celibacy,
and life of simplicity for life and to receive a new
canonical status in the church as clergy. This is the
equivalent of solemn vows for religious or the sacrament
of marriage for laity. For seminarians this is a
transitional deacon ordination because their final goal
will be priesthood ordination. Seminarians serve as
deacons for their last year of seminary providing them
with excellent preparation through serving at the altar,
preaching, and celebrating some sacraments such as
baptism and weddings without mass.
Please pray for our seminarians who will be
ordained as Deacons, and know all are welcome to come
and support them in person at the ordination Masses.
Details of these Masses will be sent in the very near
future!

Christmas Reception, December 10th

The weather outside was frightful, but the reception was
so delightful! So many of you braved the elements and
we had a record attendance.
Both Archbishops & Bishop Eusebio were with us, along
with several of our priest members, and seminarian Chris
Hoiland who shared his vocation story. Archbishop
Brunett enjoyed seeing many friends, and he spoke with
us as well.

We presented Archbishop Sartain with our Christmas
gifts - a photo book from his Spain pilgrimage and his
annual yearbook of Crozier events. We also presented
him with your donations to his Charitable Needs Fund.

Lenten Day of Reflection, March 27th
As much as he wanted to be with us, Archbishop realized that he
needed to respect his limits during his recovery from neck
surgery. He offered his holy hour and prayers for us, and
thanked us for our prayers and understanding. In his place, he
sent Fr. Bryan Dolejsi, Vocations Director, who gave us a
wonderful reflection on suffering.
The beautiful weather allowed us to walk the grounds, enjoy
quiet time in the chapel, or go to confession. Seminarian Chris
Hoiland was with us to serve Mass, and we were so happy to
have Archbishop Brunett join us as well.
