use powering a device invented shortly after
the battery – the handheld flashlight. It began
in 1898 when Conrad Hubert, a Russian
immigrant, lit up New York City with the
introduction of the newly patented handheld
flashlight. Soon afterward, Hubert began
manufacturing flashlights, batteries and light
bulbs under the name “Ever Ready” – and
now more than 110 years later, Energizer is
still the innovative leader in portable lighting
technology.
Over the years, emerging bulb and battery
technology helped Eveready Battery
Company move forward in flashlight
development – introducing the tungsten
bulb, improving switches and developing
spotlights to project light forward. Changes
in case construction, lenses and endcaps
all kept Eveready at the forefront of the
portable lighting industry as well, and proved
overwhelmingly useful for outdoorsmen,
engineers, construction workers, policemen,
military personnel, and miners.
Our name changed in April 2000 to reflect
our commitment to portable power,
and Eveready Battery Company officially
became Energizer Holdings, Inc. Since
then we have continued our tradition
of innovative lighting technology with
longer lasting power, more user-driven
comfort and multi-functional features, LED
technology, and stronger yet lighter casing
construction.

opening of our Westlake, Ohio, research and

Frank Huang, Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
from Princeton, is a Senior Technology Engineer
at Energizer’s Technology Center. Dr. Huang’s
expertise includes industrial instrumentation, data
acquisition, optics, CAD, lean manufacturing and

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are state-of-the-art lighting technology. With a very bright white
light, rugged durability and resistance to vibration and shock, their energy efficiency and
multicolor (blue, green, red, amber, ultraviolet, Infrared and white) options make them the #1
choice for critical lighting situations in military, professional and outdoor situations. Energizer’s
strategic partnerships with Cree, Lumiled and Nichia – the leaders in LED innovation – ensure

Construction
Energizer uses high-quality magnesium alloys, aircraftgrade aluminum and advanced polymers (ABS plastic,
polycarbonate and epoxy glass) that allow our lights to
carry a smaller footprint while being highly resistant to
damage from impact. To reduce heat produced by LEDs,
advanced patent-pending cooling fins are built into the
magnesium alloy casings to efficiently disperse heat.
Power Sources
Energizer® Ultimate Lithium batteries, the world’s
longest lasting AA and AAA batteries in high tech
devices, are the ideal power source for maximizing
runtimes in high performance flashlights, and they
are optimized to perform in extreme temperatures
(-40° F to 140° F or -40° C to 60° C) and are 33%
