Edwardsville High School Athletics
Edwardsville High School Athletics A Tradition of Excellence Edwardsville High School has a long tradition of athletic excellence. In fact, EHS has appeared in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch top five athletic programs in seven of the last nine years, winning the top prize three times, and is recognized as one of the premier schools in the state of Illinois. This success is the result of hard work and high expectations – part of business as usual for EHS. The school is fortunate to have talented and dedicated athletes and coaches, administrative, parental and community support, summer improvement programs, and camaraderie among coaches. During the 2008-2009 school year, Edwardsville High School brought home trophies in four IHSA sports: Boys Golf - 3rd place, Boys Soccer - 2nd place, Team Wrestling - 4th place, and Girls Softball - 2nd place. In 2009-10, Boys Soccer finished in 4th place, Cheerleading finished in 9th place, and Girls Track finished in 4th place. During the Fall 2010 season, Boys Soccer and Girls Volleyball each took home third place trophies, and in 2011, Boys Volleyball became the first team from downstate to qualify for the IHSA state tournament. I Welcome to Edwardsville High School Home of the EHS Tigers In District 7, our primary concern is improving student achievement and preparing students for life beyond high school. It is our belief that participation in athletics plays an important role in the development of well-rounded young people. We have no doubt that the lessons learned both on and off the field of play will serve our student athletes well in whatever direction they take in life. We encourage and expect our student athletes to reflect the values of the community in which we live. Sportsmanship on and off the field is a core value of the District 7 community. It is critical that our student athletes understand that participating in extracurricular athletics is not just about winning and losing, it is also about learning to compete with integrity and with respect for one’s opponent. We have that same expectation of sportsmanship for our fans. We are fortunate in District 7 to have spirited and loyal fans, and we thank all of them for their continued support. We know that in the heat of action that it’s easy for emotions to run high, but we encourage and expect our fans to demonstrate respect for our opponents, their fans, and the officials. On behalf of District 7 students and staff, we want to thank the Board of Education for its continuing commitment to excellence - and, above all, we want to thank the communities that make up District 7 for their commitment to the Edwardsville Tiger tradition. The Tigers varsity squad just completed a streak of ten consecutive Southwestern Conference Championships ending in 2010. The team’s four-year win streak was snapped two seasons ago at 75 consecutive dual match wins. The win streak was third all-time nationally in boys golf according to the National High School Sports Record Book. In first is Edwardsville HS under coach Dick Gerber (144) and in second is Saratoga Springs, NY with 85. The freshman team is under the direction of Adam Tyler, and in all, the Tigers have a 32-player roster this season. The 2011-12 school year looks to be an exciting one for the Tigers. The program graduated four players from last season and has expanded the schedule into one of the state’s most traveled golf teams. The additions of the St. Viator Tournament of Champions and the Providence Catholic Invite give the Tigers twelve 18-hole regular season rounds. 2011 Coaching Staff 2011 Seniors Connor Hannon, Ben Richey, Tanner Houba, Cameron Hicks JV Coach Doug Wright, Head Coach Dene Schickedanz, and Freshman Coach Adam Tyler Freshman/Sophomore Boys Golf Front row: Cole Van Patten, Cole Hunter, Michael Krebs, Blake Noud, Drew Bradley, Jack Berkbigler Second row: Branden Kern, Jake Williams, Assistant Coach Doug Wright, Head Coach Dene Schickedanz, Assistant Coach Adam Tyler, Chris Doyle, Dan Kornell GO TIGERS! 10 Varsity Field Hockey 2011 Seniors Front row: Anna Ceglinski, Maddie Knezik-Smith, Morgan Burton, Claire Warren Second row: Maggie Wolff, Cassie Boore, Amanda Harrison, Mallory Schroeder 2011 Coaches Front row: Maddie Knezik-Smith, Claire Warren, Annie Nickrent, Eliza Pauk, Sadie Pinell, Anna Ceglinski, Taylor Lybarger, Morgan Burton Second row: Shelby Warren, Cassie Boore, Mallory Schroeder, Amanda Harrison, Maggie Wolff, Tori Carrow, Abby Urbanek Third row: Megan Pranger, Ashley Bergman, Brie Hatton, Katie Horvath, Cathy Ward, Megan Black, Assistant Coaches Brie Hatton and Cathy Ward and Head Coach Meagann Martin Not pictured: Paige Pashea Katie Horvath Junior Varsity Field Hockey Front row: Amelia Biggs, Alexa Humphreys, Sara Duft, Noah Manibusan, Abby Anderson, Nicole Laub, Maggie Evans, Sadie Pinnell, Cristina Rivera, Hallie Umphrey Second row: Taylor Lybarger, Hallie Miller, Val Blandina, Cate Watters, Charlie Umphrey, Allyson Bergman, Maryssa Lynn, Kelsey Beimfohr, Eliza Pauk, Shelby Warren, Kate Hummel Third row: Abbey Rasche, Esther Mizel, Brie Hatton, Katie Horvath, Cathy Ward, Megan Black, Ashley Bergman, Meagann Martin Not pictured: Paige Pashea 11 2010 Varsity/JV Field Hockey Day Friday Monday Friday Saturday Sunday Wednesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Friday Wednesday Friday Saturday Thursday Friday Saturday Tuesday Thursday Friday Thursday Saturday Thursday Saturday Tuesday Thursday Saturday Date Aug. 26 Aug. 29 Sep. 02 Sep. 03 Sep. 04 Sep. 07 Sep. 14 Sep. 15 Sep. 16 Sep. 17 Sep. 19 Sep. 20 Sep. 21 Sep. 23 Sep. 28 Sep. 30 Oct. 01 Oct. 06 Oct. 07 Oct. 08 Oct. 11 Oct. 13 Oct. 14 Oct. 20 Oct. 22 Oct. 27 Oct. 29 Nov. 01 Nov. 03 Nov. 05 Opponent Orange−Black Scrimmage Brentwood High School @ Gateway Tournament @ Gateway Tournament @ Gateway Tournament Lutheran South High School Tiger Paws Scrimmage - JV/C @ St. Joseph Academy Whitfield High School @ Kincaid HS (Houston,TX) Riverview Gardens HS University City HS Oakville High School @ Visitation Academy Villa Duchesne HS @ KC Tournament @ KC Tournament Ursuline Academy @ Webster Groves HS @ Nerinx Hall High School Cor Jesu Academy John Burroughs HS @ Barat Academy @ MICDS @ Rosati Kain High School Midwest Tournament Midwest Tournament Midwest Tournament Midwest Tournament Midwest Tournament Place Edwardsville High School Edwardsville High School St. Louis Soccer Park St. Louis Soccer Park St. Louis Soccer Park Edwardsville High School Edwardsville High School St. Joseph Academy Edwardsville High School Whitfield High School Edwardsville High School Edwardsville High School Edwardsville High School Visitation Academy Edwardsville High School Pembroke Hill HS Pembroke Hill HS Edwardsville High School Webster Groves HS Nerinx Hall Edwardsville High School Edwardsville High School Barat Academy MICDS Midwest Soccer TBA TBA TBA TBA TBA Time 4:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m. TBA TBA 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:15 p.m. TBA TBA 4:00 p.m. 4:15 p.m. 12:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 4:15 p.m. 10:00 a.m. TBA TBA TBA TBA TBA Head Coach Katie Horvath Coach Horvath has been with the EHS field hockey program both as a player (1994 EHS Alumni/1998 SLU Alumni) and coach. After a solid 2010 season (17-6, 2nd place finish at the Gateway Classic, and #8 seed in the MWAA Finals), the Tigers look to fill vacancies with a variety of veteran athletes. Seniors Madison KnezikSmith, Morgan Burton, and Amanda Harrison are ready to lead this year’s squad with some younger but very skilled players, including Abby Urbanek (sophomore) and Megan Pranger (junior). Coach Horvath plans to use every player to make this season a success. “Although this season will feature many veterans, we will need to look toward the underclassmen to provide charge and relief during competitions. We have a volumes of field depth this year...what we need to focus on is goalkeeping.” The Tigers are training 7 rookie keepers this season including 1 senior, 1 junior, 2 sophomores, and 2 freshmen. “This is tough position, mentally and physically. They will all see time in the net for us; it is just uncertain now who will take the helm.” The Tigers opened their season at home on August 29 against Brentwood. They will then travel to the Gateway Classic Tournament in St. Louis September 2 and 3. They will travel to Kansas City September 30 and October 1 to defend their 4-game sweep in 2009. “I can’t wait to see how this season unfolds!” 12 C Team Field Hockey Front row: Maddie Farrar, Noah Manibusan, Abby Andrews, Nicole Laub, Hallie Umphrey, Caroline Klette Second row: Cassie Klaus, Alexa Humphreys, Abbey Rasche, Allyson Bergman, Eleanor Green, Olivia Kalmer, Lydia Davey Third row: Assistant Coach Brie Hatton, Head Coach Katie Horvath, Nikki Sund, Assistant Coach Cathy Ward, Megan Black Day Wednesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Wednesday Monday Thursday Saturday Tuesday Thursday Thursday 2011 C Team Field Hockey Date Sep. 07 Sep. 14 Sep. 15 Sep. 16 Sep. 28 Oct. 03 Oct. 06 Oct. 08 Oct. 11 Oct. 13 Oct. 20 Opponent Liberty Middle School Tiger Paws Scrimmage @ St. Joseph Academy Lincoln M.S. LaBoube received her B.S. degree from the University of Southern Indiana and her Master’s degree in Education from SIUE. She is in her seventh year as head coach of the Lady Tigers golf team. Since LaBoube took over as head coach in 2005, the team has compiled a 120-14 won-loss record. The Lady Tigers have won four conference championships (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010), two regional championships (2005, 2006), and two sectional championships (2005, 2006). In 2008 and 2010, the team advanced to the sectional tournament. During the 2007 season, the Lady Tigers earned a national record with 112 consecutive dual-match wins, which earned the team 4th place in the nation. The girls golf team has made 21 state appearances, with 15 resulting in Top 10 finishes. In 2005, 2006, and 2007, the Lady Tigers golf team placed 6th, 3rd, and 7th respectively in the IHSA State Golf Tournament. Coach LaBoube established a junior varsity team in 2007, which continues to contribute toward the success of the girls golf program. The junior varsity team has compiled a record of 33-27. Each year the number of girl golfers is increasing with the support of the middle school intramural golf program. The 2011-12 season looks to be an exciting one for the Lady Tigers. The team plans to continue the winning tradition of the Tigers, and LaBoube expects the girls to be competitive. They have set their sights on winning the conference championship and advancing in postseason play. 15 Varsity Boys Soccer Front row: Brent Heinlein, Tyler Postol, Daniel Brennan, Brandon Baker, Matt Dehr, Landon Paul, Matt Agustin Second row: Robbie Tays, Hayden Hessler, Bailey Winfield, Casey Thebeau, Chris Pearson, Frank Verdu, Zach Schumacher, Tyler Swanner Third row: Coach Randy Chapman, Coach Ben Bishop, Randy Romann, Shrikanth Parthasarathy, Lance Ramsey, Daniel Fremont, Matt Clarkston, Jordan Terry, Papa Blankson, Coach Mark Heiderscheid, Coach Chad Laughlin Junior Varsity Boys Soccer Front row: Austin Donelson, Patrick England, Brandon Baker, Brenden Heaton, Adam McLean, Derek Heil Second row: Sean Connelly, Connor Wright, Justin Lowry, Caleb Szedlar, Josh Kowalis, Ryan Grimm, Jake Paschedag Third row: Garrison West, Sam Watts, Liam Burke, Michael Romann, Colin Dorris, Geno Weatherly, Coach Ben Bishop GO TIGERS GO! 16 2011 Varsity/Junior Varsity Boys Soccer Day Date Opponent Place Time Saturday Aug. 27 @ Centennial High School Centennial High School 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 30 * @ Belleville East HS Belleville East HS 5:00 p.m. Thursday Sep. 01 * O’Fallon High School EHS Sports Complex 5:00 p.m. Saturday Sep. 03 DeSmet Jesuit HS EHS Sports Complex 10:00 a.m. Wednesday Sep. 07 @ Gibault High School Gibault High School 5:00 p.m. Thursday Sep. 08 Granite City High School EHS Sports Complex 5:00 p.m. Saturday Sep. 10 Urbana High School EHS Sports Complex 12:00 p.m. Tuesday Sep. 13 * @ Collinsville High School Collinsville High School 5:00 p.m. Wednesday Sep. 14 Parkway South High School EHS Sports Complex 5:00 p.m. Friday Sep. 16 @ Morton Tournament - V Morton HS TBA Saturday Sep. 17 @ Morton Tournament - V Morton HS TBA Wednesday Sep. 21 Whitfield High School EHS Sports Complex 5:00 p.m. Saturday Sep. 24 @ Notre Dame −Peoria Peoria 4:15 p.m. Monday Sep. 26 CBC High School EHS Sports Complex 5:00 p.m. Tuesday Sep. 27 * @ Alton High School Alton High School 5:00 p.m. Saturday Oct. 08 @ Carbondale High School Carbondale High School 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 11 * Belleville West HS EHS Sports Complex 5:00 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 18 IHSA Regional Semi−Final TBA TBA Friday Oct. 21 IHSA Regional Final TBA TBA Tuesday Oct. 25 IHSA Sect.Semi−final TBA TBA Friday Oct. 28 IHSA Sectional Final TBA TBA Tuesday Nov. 01 IHSA Super Sectional TBA TBA Friday Nov. 04 IHSA State Final TBA TBA Saturday Nov. 05 IHSA State Final Championship TBA TBA 2011 Seniors 2011 Soccer Coaching Staff Front row: Matt Dehr, Daniel Brennan Second row: Daniel Assistant Coach Randy Chapman, Head Coach Mark Fremont, Zach Schumacher, Chris Pearson, Casey Thebeau, Heiderscheid, Assistant Coach Ben Bishop, Assistant Coach Papa Blankson Third row: Matt Agustin, Jordan Terry, Matt Chad Laughlin Clarkston, Robbie Tays, Shrikanth Parthasarathy, Randy Romann 17 Front row: Trent Daley, Andrew Effler, Ryan Bode, Kyle Carlson, Drew Flaugher, Colton Schneider, Nick Posey Second row: Cameron White, Suleman Bazai, Nick Dehr, Austin Pizzini, Juan Perez, Conor Charleston, Zach Morrisey, Kyle Swanson Third row: Coach Chad Laughlin, Joe Brammeier, McKenzie Holtmann, Blake Thomilson, Cody Ojeda, Fahd Shakeel, Jacob McClean Freshman Boys Soccer Day Wednesday Date Aug. 24 Wednesday 2011 Freshman Boys Soccer Opponent @ Triad High School Place Triad High School Time 4:15 p.m. Aug. 31 * Collinsville High School EHS Sports Complex 4:00 p.m. Tuesday Sep. 06 @ CBC High School CBC High School 4:00 p.m. Friday Sep. 09 St. Louis University HS EHS Sports Complex 4:30 p.m. Monday Sep. 12 * Granite City High School Edwardsville High School 4:00 p.m. Wednesday Sep. 14 * O’Fallon High School Edwardsville High School 4:00 p.m. Thursday Sep. 15 * @ Belleville East HS Belleville East HS 4:00 p.m. Tuesday Sep. 20 DeSmet Jesuit HS EHS Sports Complex 4:30 p.m. Wednesday Sep. 28 @ Waterloo High School Waterloo High School 4:00 p.m. Monday Oct. 03 * Alton High School Edwardsville High School 4:00 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 05 @ Collinsville High School Collinsville High School 3:30 p.m. Friday Oct. 07 * @ Belleville West HS Belleville West HS 4:00 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 11 @ Granite City High School Granite City 4:00 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 12 * @ O’Fallon High School O’Fallon High School 4:30 p.m. Good Luck Tigers! 18 Head Coach Mark Heiderscheid Mark Heiderscheid was hired as the varsity boys soccer coach for Edwardsville High School in 2000. During his tenure as head coach, Heiderscheid’s record is 175-58-26 and he has won 7 Southwestern Conference championships. Coach Heiderscheid has led the boys soccer team to the state finals in 2000, 2001, 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2010, and he has guided them to three state championship games. They finished 2nd in both 2001 and 2008. In 2000, the Edwardsville High School boys soccer team was crowned state champions when they defeated the #1 nationally ranked Lincoln-Way High School from Chicago by a score of 4-1. Last season, the Edwardsville boys soccer team finished with an overall record of 20-5-1. They made the final four for the third consecutive year finishing 3rd in the IHSA tournament. It marked the 5th time that Coach Heiderscheid has led the program to the state semifinals. The Edwardsville boys soccer team has been nationally ranked in each of the three years that it reached the state championship game. In 2001, the program achieved a final national ranking of 14, and the 2000 state championship team ended with a #5 national ranking. The boys program has been a fixture in the St. Louis Post Dispatch “Top Ten” poll since 2000 and finished in the top two in both 2000 and 2008, the highest finish ever achieved among Illinois programs in boys soccer. The 2011 Soccer Tigers are eager to accept the challenge of appearing in another state final. They face a daunting task by facing their always tough Southwestern Conference rivals and a number of strong mid-state and Chicago area teams all eager to experience the thrill of the finals. The 2011 Tigers return 5 starters from last season. These include all-state senior goalkeeper Daniel Brennan. Starting in 3 state finals, Daniel brings a wealth of experience and is the vocal leader for the team. Two-year starter Robbie Tays will anchor the backfield along with fellow returning senior starter Matt Agustin. Creative midfielder Tyler Swanner and striker Chris Pearson were instrumental to the 2010 team’s potent attack, and the team’s success hinges on the pair being impact players this year. Tyler Postol and Frank Verdu were key subs last season and will join a formidable defense. Midfield subs that look to step into starting roles include Shrikanth Parthasarathy, Daniel Fremont, Casey Thebeau, and Lance Ramsey. Senior Matt Dehr returns as the backup goalkeeper for the Tigers. These players, along with Randy Romann, who comes back from missing last season due to injury, play with passion and maintain the same character as those players who graduated from last year’s third place squad. 2011 Varsity Roster No.Name Year 1 Daniel Brennan SR GK Matt Dehr SR GK Brandon Baker JR 2 S. Highlights from the 2010 Cross Country season included winning the Madison County Championships, along with winning five invitationals throughout the season. The 2010 team qualified for IHSA State Cross Country Championships for the third consecutive season and the 12th time in 13 years. The 2010 team will include nine returning members from last year’s post-season roster, including seniors Joel Burroughs, Brendan Colligan, Caden Cramsey, Austin Abegg, and Garrett Sweatt, along with juniors Ben Gabel, Ryker Frohock, Chad Maxwell, and Andrew Patterson. Additional seniors competing for Edwardsville this year include: Spencer Burkart, Steffan West, John Schoeberle, Charles Witzke, Michael Stubban, and Zach Bertels. The 2011 team should see the largest class of incoming freshman runners (17) in Coach Patrylak’s tenure, which should help raise the total number of athletes over the 50-member plateau for just the second time in school history. Currently there are 57 runners on this year’s roster (and we are always looking for more). With the large number of returning runners and incoming freshmen, highlighted by the hard work and miles put in over the summer, the 2011 boys cross-country team aims to repeat the success of the 2008, 2009, and 2010 seasons, culminating with our fourth consecutive appearance at the IHSA AAA Boys State Championship. Leading the charge will be Garrett Sweatt, looking to improve upon his 11th place All-State performance from 2010. Look for Garrett to lead the Tigers into the State Finals with a chance at the IHSA AAA Individual Championship. 20 Girls Cross Country Front row: Farida Samadzade, Julia Hannon, Erika Fulbright, Lizzie Lynn, Sarah Smith, Megan Keil, Ashlynn Latham Second row: Lizzie Anderson, Leah Oglesby, Courtney Lybarger, Mikaylah Burris, Katie Picchiotti, Briana Chamberlain Third row: Coach Steve Chapman, Allie Sweatt, Erica Bailey, Jasmine Hyatt, Nicole Doornink, Abi Clere, Olivia Emmerson, Willow Tolly, Coach George Patrylak Head Girls Coach Steve Chapman Coach Steve Chapman is starting his fourth year as the EHS girls cross country coach. Prior to coaching at EHS, he spent five years coaching cross country and track and field at Liberty Middle School. Prior to Liberty, he spent three years coaching at Edwardsville Middle School. This year’s team will be captained by senior co-captains Briana Chamberlain, Lizzie Anderson and Courtney Lybarger. These captains have fantastic accomplishments for EHS cross country in the past and will serve as great role models and team leaders this season. The 2010 team will return four girls with varsity experience: seniors Courtney Lybarger, Briana Chamberlain and Lizzie Anderson along with sophomore Allie Sweatt. Freshmen Lizzie Lynn and Erica Bailey join the team having attained high levels of success at the middle school level and will contend for varsity spots this season. The girls have spent the summer running in the heat and should be ready to step it up for the fall season. Team goals this year include a conference title and qualifying for the IHSA State Cross Country Meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria, IL. These tournaments, combined with a challenging non-conference dual-match slate (Lincoln-Way East, Loyola Academy, St. Joe’s Academy, Lafayette), prepare the team for the rigid post-season competitions at Sectional and State. 2011 Varsity Tennis Day Date Opponent Place Time Friday Aug. 26 @ Downer’s Grove South HS Downers Grove South 4:00 p.m. Saturday Aug. 27 @ New Trier Tournament New Trier 8:00 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 31 * Belleville East HS EHS Tennis Center 4:00 p.m. Thursday Sep. 01 Lafayette High School EHS Tennis Center 4:00 p.m. Friday Sep. 02 Heather Bradshaw Invitational EHS Tennis Center 1:00 p.m. Saturday Sep. 03 Heather Bradshaw Invitational EHS Tennis Center 8:00 a.m. Tuesday Sep. 06 * @ Alton High School Alton High School 4:00 p.m. Wednesday Sep. 07 @ Granite City High School Granite City 4:00 p.m. Friday Sep. 09 @ Columbia Quad Duals Columbia-Rock Bridge 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Sep. 13 * Belleville West HS EHS Tennis Center 4:00 p.m. Friday Sep. 16 @ Loyola Academy Loyola Academy 3:30 p.m. Saturday Sep. 17 @ Loyola Invitational Loyola Academy 8:30 a.m. Tuesday Sep. 20 @ Collinsville High School Collinsville High School 4:00 p.m. Friday Sep. 23 Southern Illinois Duals EHS Tennis Center 1:00 p.m. Saturday Sep. 24 Southern Illinois Duals EHS Tennis Center 8:00 a.m. Tuesday Sep. 27 * @ O’Fallon High School O’Fallon High School 4:00 p.m. Thursday Sep. 29 St. Joseph Academy EHS Tennis Center 4:00 p.m. Friday Sep. 30 @ Lincoln−Way East High School Lincoln−Way East HS 9:00 a.m. Saturday Oct. 01 @ Lincoln-Way Tournament Lincoln−Way East HS 11:00 a.m. Friday Oct. 07 * SWC Tournament TBA TBA Saturday Oct. 08 * SWC Tournament TBA TBA Saturday Oct. 15 IHSA Sectional TBA 8:00 a.m. Thursday Oct. 20 IHSA State Tournament TBA TBA Friday Oct. 21 IHSA State Tournament TBA TBA Saturday Oct. 22 IHSA State Tournament TBA TBA 23 Front row: Meredith Ferrari, Cassidee Bowen, Taylor Altenberger, Marissa St. Peters, Megan Crowe, Camille Herring Second row: Madison Darbon, Taylor Thiems, Sarah Busse, Hannah Cigliana, Autumn Miller, China Rongey, Betsy Cote Third row: Jordyn Failoni, Allison Stephens, Celeste Bremley, Rachel Jackson, Jenna Northcutt, Isabella Lilley, Molly Johnson Varsity Cheerleading Go Tigers! The Tiger Marching Band, which consists of 135 students, will compete in six contests this year and will perform an exhibition show at EHS’s fourth annual Tiger Ambush Classic, a marching band competition that will host 21 schools from Illinois and Missouri. This year’s show, “The Legacy Tree,” is an original composition written by Mark Higginbotham and arranged by Marvin Battle and Lawrence Rogers. Music selections include “Center of the World,” “The Song of the Tree,” “Dissension” and “The Legacy Tree.” Band members attended three weeks of rehearsals during the early summer to work on the music, to learn marching fundamentals, and to prepare physically for the marching season.
