Santiago, Chile. Jesús, 18, lives alone with
his father Hector in a flat where the TV
covers up their inability to communicate.
The rest of the time, he dances in a K-pop
band, hangs out with friends and does

in public places, looking for a thrill. One
night, he finds it with his friends, being
involved in an irreversible misadventure.
If this event will make Jesús and Hector

Thick Lashes of Lauri Mäntyvaara is a debut feature written and directed by Hannaleena Hauru, whose short films have premiered in Berlinale
Generation and Cannes Critics’ week. The film was developed in Torino
Film Lab and Cinefondation Residence. The producer Jussi Rantamäki’s
previous feature film, The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki won the prix
un Certain Regard in Cannes 2016.
