Bridge
New Leigh Road Bridge
At the ceremony, which was attended by guests from all those involved
in delivering the project, including Slough Borough Council, Osborne
Engineers, SEGRO’s Chief Operating Officer Andy Gulliford, said:
“Today is a momentous landmark. At £10 million of private investment, the
new Leigh Road Bridge is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the
estate’s history and a great testament to the collaboration between all those
involved in delivering our shared vision for the continued improvement of
the Slough Trading Estate.
New Leigh Road Bridge
On the 14th October a ceremony was held to celebrate the successful
delivery of the 1000 tonne Leigh Road Bridge which was installed during
a night time operation in February and connected to the surrounding road
network over the summer.
Teams from SEGRO, Slough Borough Council, Osborne, Peter Brett
Associates, Network Rail and the Highways Agency worked together on the
project which is part of the ongoing improvement of the trading estate.
Now fully operational, traffic is able to flow more freely around the estate
with the original Brunel designed bridge now fully pedestrianised for
walkers and cyclists.
“But it’s also something more than a bridge. It’s a sign of our ongoing
commitment to Slough. Our five year development plan mirrors the
Council’s own economic plan for the town, and we believe that working
together, SEGRO and the Council can create an environment that inspires
confidence in the business community to invest in the town.”
Ruth Bagley, Chief Executive of Slough Borough Council, said:
“We congratulate SEGRO on their new bridge, as well as their vision for the
estate and their significant commitment to continue investing in Slough over
the coming years.
“SEGRO is Slough’s biggest landowner and as such our close partnership
with them plays a huge part in attracting and retaining the businesses
needed to grow our economy and maintain our status as a world class
economic hub.”

THUNDERBIRDS
ARE SEGRO
To the delight of the retro classic’s loyal fan
base, Thunderbirds has returned to the Slough
Trading Estate – where the show was originally
written, produced and filmed – to create three
new episodes. As part of the show’s 50th
anniversary, a kickstarter fund was launched by
a team led by producer Stephen La Riviere to
raise money for the project.
Filming for ‘Thunderbirds 1965’ is now underway, using audio recordings
first released in 1966 which featured the series’ original voice cast, as well
as contemporary music and sound effects.
La Riviere and his team are faithfully recreating puppets and sets using
all the classic Supermarionation techniques to produce the brand new
episodes in the distinctive Thunderbirds style.
Interest in the project has been huge and the estate has been abuzz with
regular visits from film crews, broadcasters and journalists. Just another
great example of the incredible range of activities that go on inside the
estate’s industrial units!

NEW HIGH DEFINITION CCTV
CAMERAS INSTALLED ON ESTATE
SEGRO and Business Watch have installed 10 new HiKVision
HD cameras with night time capability as part of the ongoing
enhancement in security on the trading estate.
New HiKVision
HD camera
These have replaced the existing analogue cameras and provide the operators
in the control room with an excellent view into areas which were sometimes
obscured by shadows during the hours of darkness, bringing increased security to
those who work and operate on the trading estate.
Business Watch has been operating on the estate since 1994. The aims
and objectives of the scheme are very simple:
“To create and maintain a safe and secure environment
for those who work and visit Slough Trading Estate”
Business Watch achieves this by working in partnership with SEGRO, Thames
Valley Police, Cordant Security, and of course the estate community to proactively
reduce the fear of crime within business and the community as a whole.
Operations are overseen by Business Watch’s state-of-the-art operations centre
which is equipped with CCTV monitoring equipment and is staffed 24 hours a
day by experienced SIA licensed operators.
Business Watch members qualify for reduced annual and call out rates.

INTERVIEW:
KIDD RAPINET
SOLICITORS
Kidd Rapinet Solicitors offer legal services to both
business and private clients on a wide range of
issues and have an office on the Slough Trading
Estate. estatelife interviewed Managing Partner
Philip Astles to find out more about the benefits
of operating from the estate.
“While we do all the usual work associated with
a high street solicitor office, we are continually
building our commercial offer. We like to
think of ourselves as ‘the right choice for both
business and family’ and our classic customer is
a director or business owner. Our services enable
us to provide legal support to people during
important business and personal milestones
including setting up a company and shareholder
agreements, domestic and corporate leasing, tax
arrangements and family matters such as wills
and divorce.”
Model office for the firm
“Since moving to Slough 15 year ago, our team
has grown significantly. We are proud of the
high level of service that we can offer, thanks
in part to our unique customer management
system. In SEGRO, we have found a very
professional landlord which is in sharp contrast
to our previous experience. It has been great
to get involved in the community side of the
estate such as hosting training days for Slough
Aspire and playing in the Slough Trading Estate
softball tournament. We would not hesitate to
recommend the estate as a business location – it
has helped us to achieve the status of ‘model
office’ in the Kidd Rapinet office network.”
To find out more visit www.kiddrapinet.co.uk
Our strength is our accessibility
“Solicitors need to be accessible during times of
stress and this is where our home on the Slough
Trading Estate has given us a real competitive
advantage. Our move from the high street to the
estate has brought a wide range of benefits and
has enabled us to grow our client base. The office
not only has a discreet location and plenty of
convenient parking, it has enabled us to expand
our employment services to both business
managers and employees looking to navigate the
complex laws which govern the workplace.”

FOUR NEW UNITS READY TO MARKET
SEGRO are pleased to bring 255-258 Ipswich Road – a brand new terrace
development of four production/warehouse units – to the market. The
industrial premises are being developed on a speculative basis to help meet
the demand for modern, high quality units on Slough Trading Estate.
Benefitting from a high specification, with a shared yard and fully fitted
offices to the first floor, it is anticipated that interest amongst occupiers
will be high. This leading-edge business environment will be ideal for
manufacturing, logistics or trade counter uses and will be available to
occupy in summer 2016. The scheme will include cycle rack spaces, high
levels of parking and LED lights.
255–258 Ipswich Road has been fast-tracked by the estate’s Simplified
Planning Zone status which enables the fast and flexible construction of
new buildings. This has been a key attraction for both new and existing
customers looking to move to the estate to expand their business.
