His wife and son in tow, Ian gets extra
points for making the 1.8T Challenge a famrly affair. Fitted with a Recaro kid's seat and
enough luggage to support an army, Ian's
GTI reminded us of the brilliant utility that
is the Volkswasen Golf.
Producing aln admirable 198.3 whp, this
GTI was considerably more powerful than a stock vehicle and its torque delivery was
very smooth and progressive. Although its suspensionwas ideal for spirited street
use, a few hard laps around the track quickly exposedits limits, including the brakes.
No, Ian did not win but he did give us hope, especially those among us with big
families (Bidrawn). fu lan's family grows, chances are we'll see him next year in a
Passator A4 wagon.
