When submitting line-art it is required that all text be outlined.
Filenames should be limited to 30 characters in length using only alpha and numeric characters,
dashes, periods and underscores.
Important - Images:
Images that do not follow Valpak® submission guidelines will be handled as follows:
Valpak® will not issue franchise calls for artwork that does not follow Valpak® submission
guidelines. Valpak® will attempt to convert any RGB or spot colors to CMYK or Grayscale
whenever possible but cannot guarantee quality or color accuracy. Valpak® may attempt to improve
poor quality artwork for printing purposes. In this process an image may be altered slightly from its
original state to improve the final printed image. It is the responsibility of the franchise to submit
artwork following Valpak® submission guidelines. Artwork not submitted following Valpak®
submission guidelines will not be eligible for credit.
Map Guidelines
Road maps that have been downloaded from a web browser, such as MapQuest®,
Google Maps®, and Yahoo! Maps® are not acceptable due to copyright
infringements. Valpak® recommends that maps be created using a vector drawing
application such as Adobe Illustrator®. Maps should follow the same criteria
as vector clipart. If a map is supplied in a raster format, then it must contain a
minimum effective resolution of 600 dpi. Valpak® recommends that you create
simple maps with few roads and intersections.
Valpak® will attempt to rebuild any map that does not follow the above submission
guidelines—and your franchise will be assessed a nominal Map Charge.

Important Submission Policies
Important - colors:
Valpak® will attempt to convert any RGB or spot colors to CMYK or Grayscale whenever possible but
cannot guarantee quality or color accuracy. These conversions will be done automatically. Do not embed
color profiles into any files submitted as it may cause your file not to print properly or at all. It is the
responsibility of the franchise to submit artwork following Valpak® submission guidelines. Artwork not
submitted following Valpak® submission guidelines will not be eligible for credit.
Important - fonts:
When selecting fonts, it is recommended that only Type 1/PostScript/open type face fonts are used. Use
of any other font type (i.e. Multiple Master, True Type, Composite, etc.) may cause your ad to print
incorrectly or not at all. It is the responsibility of the franchise to submit artwork following Valpak®
submission guidelines. Artwork not submitted following Valpak® submission guidelines will not be eligible
for credit.
Important - Digital ad uploads:
If a new digital file is submitted for a referenced ad, or at proof stage and no changes are requested, Valpak
will use both sides of the new uploaded file will be used. Replacing your referenced ad, or proof ad.
When a new digital file is submitted for a referenced ad, or at proof stage, with a change request, Valpak
will only use the new digital file that changes are requested for. (i.e. if a change is requested for sd1 only,
and the new file submitted contains a PDF/Graphics for both sides, only the new side one file will be used.
If your intention is for both sides of a new digital file is to be used when requesting changes to only one
side of an ad, an instruction must be included to use both sides of the new file upload.

Products & Color Usage
Premium Color® (CP40, CP44)
These ads must be built using CMYK process colors only and can be 4/0 (cmyk/0), or 4/4 (cmyk/
cmyk). Images should be saved as grayscale or CMYK. Line-art should be created using CMYK
process colors.
Premium Color® (CP20)
Use the Premium Color® (CP20) examples found in the Premium Color® (CP20) Guide on how to
use the dual color combinations and the color breakdown specifications for each of the CP20 colors.
Images should be saved as grayscale. If your images or line art must be printed in the Premium
Color® (CP20) highlight color, then make sure to build a CMYK document according to the proper
color breakdown listed in the Premium Color® (CP20) examples.
Important: Do Not Use Spot Colors or Spot Color Channels!
Important: Valpak® Graphics will not color separate a grayscale or color halftone used within a
Premium Color® (CP20) product.
Keep in mind, because computer screens display colors differently than printed colors, the colors you see
in the Two Color examples may not match the printed version exactly.
Refer the document called Premium Color® (CP20) Guide for a visual representation of the various
CP20 color combinations.
