Testimonials
Conservation
Protect. Sustain. Grow.
“ Today I am more convinced than ever before
that conservation is the real cornerstone
of New Zealand's tourism industry .”
LES HUTCHINS, FOUNDER OF REAL JOURNEYS, 1998
“Wow. I was incredibly impressed with the level of service,
attention to detail, coach drivers, crew on board the Milford
Wanderer and just the way that nothing is an issue for your staff.
Our group was so blown away by the whole experience that
many said this was the best supplier trip they have ever been on
and will have a lifetime of memories to take away.”
Steve O’Connor – Regional Business Manager
L’Oreal New Zealand
Milford Sound Overnight Cruise Charter
“Real Journeys were very supportive of our event from start to
finish – which was only made possible by the goodwill of the
company. All staff we dealt with from management to those on
the ground were incredibly supportive and enthusiastic, a tribute
to a large and successful company that maintains its core values
derived from humble beginnings.”
Adam Fairmaid – GodZone Event Organiser
GodZone Adventure Race
Milford Sound & Queenstown transport
"You've been wonderful to deal with
and we're over the moon on how the
event went."

"The day was flawless and this trip
will be talked about by our guests
long into the future."
“Just wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team for
such a fantastic night on Friday – couldn’t have gone better.
You’ve been wonderful to deal with and we’re over the moon on
how the event went.”
Kyla Davies – VIP & Hospitality Manager
Winter Games NZ
TSS Earnslaw Wharf Side Event
“Real Journeys not only have incredible products, but they are
also a pleasure to work with. I have had the opportunity to work
with many of their products over the years and they have all
been wonderful experiences. One in particular was to Stewart
Island for a group of 90 guests. Stewart Island is a wonderland
of natural scenery, native wildlife and scenic activities. Real
Journeys supported many of our activities including a private
boat transfer to the Island. The day was flawless and this trip will
be talked about by our guests long into the future.”
Samantha Stirling
South Island Operations Manager
Orange Queenstown
The rise of NZ’s modern environmental movement can be traced back to one key event
in the 1960s: the Save Manapouri Campaign. Real Journeys founders Les and Olive
Hutchins were key figures in the fight against the Government’s plans to raise the lake
level. Their efforts didn’t just protect Manapouri – they inspired a nationwide change
of attitude in how we protect and conserve the environment. We are dedicated to
continuing their pioneering work.
The Leslie Hutchins Conservation Foundation was established in 1994 with this aim in
mind. Every year we contribute a percentage of our sales to ensure this vital charity
can support a number of conservation initiatives – everything from educational trips
to native bird relocations.
Real Journeys works closely with the Department of Conservation (DOC) on a range of
projects. We assist with the protection of the Kakapo, Whio, Kiwi and various penguin
species. Other projects we’ve partnered with DOC include a significant land restoration
at Walter Peak, rebuilding an iconic piece of early settler history in Dusky Sound and
coastal clean-up programmes in Fiordland and Stewart Island.
We are also committed to operating sustainably and minimising our footprint. From
recycling initiatives to investing in leading edge technology we always aim to go above
and beyond to protect our pristine environments.
For everyone at Real Journeys, looking after and
caring for our backyard isn’t policy – it’s a way of
life. By following in the footsteps of Les and Olive
we both honour the past and protect the future.

Glowworm
Caves
Magical underground world
of sculpted rock, rushing water
and a glowworm grotto.
Lying beneath the mountains on
Lake Te Anau’s western shores,
the Te Anau Glowworm Caves
are a subterranean network lit
by thousands of glowworms.
Drift in silence below
shimmering glowworms
This underground world is astonishingly beautiful.
By geological standards the caves are very young (12,000
years) and are still being carved out by the force of the river
that flows through them. The result is twisting limestone
passages filled with sculpted rock, whirlpools and a roaring
underground waterfall.
•• Small group guided tour of the caves by path and small boat
Deep inside the caves, beyond the noise of the water,
thousands of glowworms inhabit a silent hidden grotto.
They produce a glittering display that is truly extraordinary.
•• Cruise across Lake Te Anau by catamaran
•• English only commentary and nature guide
•• Complimentary tea and coffee
•• Tours available on a private charter basis
